One of my characters started with just a Golem as a proverbial fishing pole. Wanted to see what the ISK could be like. Four... five days later she's got 300 mil + of loot, and 110 mil in wallet. Another 50k LP. Not bad for the afk safety of high sec.

A marauder is for one character that wants to shoot its way to ISK for a PLEX in a week and a half. I consider it a gift to high sec lurkers who level up their Raven.

Faster lvl 4's? no. You can blitz through 4's in a pirate BS much faster and at greater range creating less risk and more ISK.

If you asked me, I'd luv to see Marauders used more in pvp but their cost is prohibitive.

My advice, skip the Marauder and go for pirate BS. More dmg, faster runs, less ISK, less risk.

Marauders were designed for PvE , however due to the Introduction of Bastion Module I they have become more and more alive in PvP due to the sheer resistance of EWAR , such as Jams, TDs & Sensor Damps...

A lot of **** talk is in this Thread I gotta say regarding to the PvP side of Marauders, as a guy who Flies Marauders in PvP and makes Videos with them (can't link channel cause am at work) but if you look up Cruising Lands you will see....

But let me Explain:

Leyo - I give him props does a great job in his Golem killing a bunch of FW Scrubs, but any ****** can do that if they don't know how to kill a Golem (quiet simple believe me.)

But Personally having used all 4 Marauders for PvP I have come to a conclusion:

Vargur : The Best of them all you can fit it with an Active Tank ( Pith X Booster + 2x Cap Booster) or ASB ( x3 ) , you will always have atleast 1.1k DPS with tracking allowing you to even shoot Frigates at a decent range.
You also have the ability to shoot at Logi at 50-60km due to the sweet love of Barrage Blink

Golem: This thing can be a beast (see Leyos Vids) but is very tight on fitting requirements needing you to have near maximum Skills and even then you prolly need an implant or 2 if you want to fit Torps Neuts + an Active Tank.
Personally I have tried it and I just don't like how missiles aren't that great at the moment (cough cough CCP fix this ****.)

Kronos: Again an absolutely beast even with Mediocore Fitting Skills you will be able to fit this Baby with a Beautiful Dual Rep tank with Neutrons.
Again if you use Null you can hit out to roughly 30kms~~ (Thank you Bastion Fall off + Optimal !!)
Sadly unlike the ASBs Anc Reppers take Capacitor (most stupidest **** ever) but I would always recommend to fit 2x Reps of Faction/Deadspace.
The DPS in a Kronos can be quiet deadly as you don't need to fit a full Tank to have a monster on your hands :3

Paladin: I've only used it once , and i don't really feel comfortable commenting :<

Either way Guys, the Marauders are just fine (except needing a little fitting tweak on both the Golem & Paladin) and they do just fine in PvP even against Frigate (insert another F word here) , but you just got to pick your fights and make sure that the alliance you are shooting doesn't have a cyno handy ( been a victim of that plenty times! wahey! ) .

Amen but I disagree that the vargur can hit frigs well. at range ye, but they have to be moving slow or not at all in my experience. The vargur can't track cruisers orbiting close that's how u kill it...

Yes i agree if you let them come too close however a good PvPer prioritizes his attacks accordingly to the Hull Seize and not always the damage dealers, that's why if you see a cruiser closing in you web scram him and bbq him : )

Yes, you are right... A 2bil isk ship fit with DED mods can take on 2bil worth of cruisers and Battlecruisers and still produce a loss mail. How very ignorant of me for pointing that out. Roll

They certainly sucked in the last AT. There was certainly no occasion where the only things left at the end were the marauders having wiped the entire enemy fleet. Nope.

I think my favourite part of the thread was where you think you'll keep a marauder in place without a scram, I can only assume you believe the pilot to be a complete fool.

Sadly, they decided to only hand high native recharge to the paladin and none of the others. So the only baby archon you can use is a paladin with full rack of armor-RR that just barely fits, while a small mini-nid with shield-RR doesn't exist :(

Funnily, whether you armor- or shieldtank your baby-archon doesn't matter, numbers end up being the same with shield having a fair bit more buffer. What the ****.

Confirming that Bastion Modules are a godsend against Guristas and Serpentis missions with heavy ECM or damps. Pirate battleships tend to not fare as well as marauders on these missions because their DPS is shut down so much of the time. But in largely EWar-free missions, yeah, Pirate battleships will tend to get the job done faster.

I use a Paladin fitted with mega pulse lasers t2 for level 4 missions...
I simply love blasting **** at 58 km with 1168 dps with my turrets

Golem is love, finally got around to get one, fitted with double-rigors though for PVE. pulls only 974DPS with current implants and skills, but I like it very much despite the slow damage application.

I was under the impression that the Golem would be the king of Marauders for PVE as Caldari ships typically are. Is that not the case?

I know that the Rattler can get upwards of 1500 dps if fit well and my Paladin gets over 1200 with conflag, but then again I suppose the dps shown on the golem is per second not per volley, and it can shoot the farthest of any Marauder...
