Okay, so high sec literally means "high security." This could be interpreted as being in a major metropolitan city, a country with a good police force, etc. etc.

How is it okay in EVE for CODE/New Order to extort money to exist in high-sec space, when every free country around the world makes extortion illegal?

If you do not pay, they then proceed to destroy your ship - ganking you in high sec - forcing you to lose ISK. This is the equivalent of destruction of property.

So, CODE/New Order is extorting people for money, and then assaulting them when it doesn't exist/their target doesn't pay.

Is this Sharia Law in EVE now? Do I have to be worried about being escorted by a male while in public?

If this is the case, CCP please make veils a mandatory clothing option on all females in the game. Otherwise we might break CODE's laws.

Oh my.

CODE is feeling left out again. Poor CODE. I guess when no one else will talk about you, you have to do it yourself.

I don't believe in CODE?

They just wardec'd my corp because one of my corpmates was running missions, the "agent" hopped in and nuked him.

Just wondering how the heck this is allowed in high sec to begin with.

I've gone round and round with this concept. Advanced civilization visa vis allowable behavior and expression or exercise of sovereignty. I've always thought this was laughably inconsistant in EVE. How it is carried through here smacks of a serious lack of understanding of how sophistication occurs. Sophistication is how high technology occurs. One must first organize a society.

What they fail to understand clearly, or show signs of understanding at the very least, is the nature of this organization. I've said time and again it makes the overall "immersion" thing a bit on the ridiculous side, and is just a tad bit confusing to all but the sociopathic among us. Eventually, I did my own ipso-facto, therefore the CCP staff must be....and you can run with it from there.

We must accommodate the idiocracy.

I like the part where it somehow was sexist.

In the discussion with this "agent" I can say sociopath definitely fit him. He tried hard to control the conversation and was quick to point out any of my errors and put his intelligence above my own. I feel awful for any small children or animals that come into contact with this guy. Still, I wonder if such facist like tactics are really condoned by CCP and if they know about the blatant disregard for CCP's economic and social structure.

Hah. I was mentioning how they require you to pay them to exist. They are not the government, they are a corporation running around pretending to be a government.

Thus, they are a terrorist organization, only out to gain money. How is it possible that CCP allows a corporation in their game that generates money by terrorizing the people who only want to enjoy the universe and game that they created?

In essence, because CODE has a bunch of money, and they buy ships/equipment, CCP is helping protect and allow a terrorist organization to exist.

Yeah, I'm totally a Code alt. You spotted me, all right.

Oh, is this where I put the /endsarcasm point?

Because that, my friend, was sarcasm. I am in no way, shape, or form affiliated with Code. Their rules are draconian in nature, and I want them removed with prejudice.

You're an alt, you just don't know it yet.

Remember that whenever you have a bad day in EVE, the correct reponse is "Thank you CCP, may I please have another?"

To the OP: How is it that in a major metropolitan area like new york, there is still crime then? The difference here being: if they attack you, they will actually lose their ship, instead of getting away with it. Dont want to get ganked: protect yourself and make it less worthwhile to gank you. Mine in a procuror if you're near an area they operate in, put a tank on your industrials, do missions in ships which aren't pimped out, just to give a few examples.

High sec doesn't mean there's no risk, it just means that there's a police force (concord) which will avenge your death (or save you if you actually fit your ship tto survive more than 1 or 2 volleys.

Some of us take pride in our ability to avoid shitposting too much, and therefore, see no need to hide behind alts.

I can at least take pride in that last part.

This is true, there is always crime.

But the thing is, the people committing the crimes are punished way harsher than "We're going to take your car away."

Remind me again of countries that have no criminal activity?

I find what code do (or the reasons they use to justify it) to be basically silly, but the open sandbox nature allows it. The risk to themselves is for their ships to be impounded by Concord. The risk to my miner alt is someone is going to come along and blow it up to make contant for themselves.

Just ignore what happens and dont react to it because ultimately the tears fuel them. Plus it doesn't take much intelliegence to follow a script, even Lancelot Link was able to do it and he was a monkey Big smile
