It is the same system of training multiple characters on one account that we have now, but with a shiny new name.

De'Veldrin's Corollary (to Malcanis' Law): Any idea that seeks to limit the ability of a large nullsec bloc to do something in the name of allowing more small groups into sov null will inevitably make it that much harder for small groups to enter sov null.

The only difference between this and the current plex system, is you can now buy these certs with aur also from the New Eden store, otherwise it's literally the same thing.

The certificate costs 3500 AUR, the same amount of AUR you can redeem from a PLEX.

I want to say the only difference is you'll be able to buy them in smaller than 30 day increments (which would be nice for adding say, one skill to an alt), but I can't find where I thought I read that.

Anyone else remember seeing that, or was it is a fever dream of mine?

Why is CCP releasing this certificate? If it activates MCT just the same as a PLEX, and it costs the same amount of AUR that you get from using a PLEX... why not just keep using PLEX?

It seems rather pointless to me. Maybe I'm missing something.

Oh, and it helps drain people's wallets of the free Aurum that CCP handed out a while ago.

This is interesting.. it's like getting 1 free MCT for every 8 you buy with AUR (assuming $17.50 price of PLEX).

A more direct approach I guess? Perhaps there are those out there confused at how to actually do the multiple character training with plex, this possibly making it more visible.

I wouldn't be surprised if part of it is to ease off some of the “usage pressure” on PLEX. It's been speculated that some of the price increase can be traced back to the myriad of additional uses for PLEX that have been rolled out through the years (although Dr. Eyjo always said the correlation was utterly minute… but then, that was all before MCT was introduced).

If this particular service became more related to the MCT than PLEX over time, especially if you could get them more cheaply, then that particular pressure would shift over to the MCTs instead and create a slightly lower demand for PLEX.
