Some attacks are not for profit and instead are just done because some one is bored or pissed and need attention

People who are whining about it's CCP's fault for not able to play the game. THERE IS LITTLE THEY CAN DO AGAINST A DDOS!

Ddos are cheap yet terrible effective, They will clog up servers with packages. And if the server migrates and the scriptkiddies want to keep it down they just move their attacks to the new location.

People make jokes about all kinds of terrible things. If you take things seriously 24/7 you'll get wound so tight that you'll end up making the news.

I don't think anyone really wants to see the DDOS guys hurt but it's always fun to joke.

I played world of warcraft for 8 years and they never lost the servers due to a DDoS attack.
