Okay CCP you add 31 sliders for changing every possible sound effect's volume but not even a simple check box for jump animation?

It appears they care about ears (the outer parts), but they don't care about the inner ears.Evil

CCP, SAVE THE (snip) INNER EARS TOOAttention

CCP, there are off buttons for ship explosions, missile effects, turret effects, etc. "Immersion" does not seem to be harmed by those. So, please give us a persisting off button for the jump gate and autoscan visuals.

I have removed some rule breaking posts and those quoting them. As always I let some edge cases stay.
Please people, keep it on topic and above all civil!

The Rules:
4. Personal attacks are prohibited.

Commonly known as flaming, personal attacks are posts that are designed to personally berate or insult another forum user. Posts of this nature are not beneficial to the community spirit that CCP promote and as such they will not be tolerated.

26. Off-topic posting is prohibited.

Off-topic posting is permitted within reason, as sometimes a single comment may color or lighten the tone of discussion. However, excessive posting of off-topic remarks in an attempt to derail a thread may result in the thread being locked, or a forum warning being issued.

I'm probably missing something, but I haven't seen any difference in the jumping animation.

As per Kronos Patch notes, - http://community.eveonline.com/news/patch-notes/patch-notes-for-kronos

"FIXES

Graphics:

Graphical adjustments to Jump Tunnel effect, less rotation and distortion intensity in tunnel."

~1yr later & 100 jumps inside of only a few minutes (Leopard is a great joy-ride ship)....

I think you've fixed it.

Thank you, devs & ccp.

They only way I found to avoid the jump effect was to keep eve client turned off. It worked perfectly for the last
couple of months.

Still doesn't remove the forced camera pan when jumping through a gate.

The resistance to just giving us an off button for this unnecessary, nauseating, and irritating visual fluff is comical at this point. I see some dev or the Psssshhhhhh Managing Exec who championed the effects sitting behind some desk with crossed arms and a pouty face loudly muttering I won't I won't I won't.Roll

I'm glad it's working better for some of you. I'm still having issues, but since it doesn't look like they've touched the lighting effects at all, I suppose that's to be expected.

I logged on the day after the patch, and literally had to quit within half an hour due to a headache after a few jumps.

Why a switch on/off? Because the new animation doesn't add anything to gameplay and it's graphically annoying. In other words, it's worse than bad: it's useless. Simple as that.     _ - Kina Ayami_

I executed around 100 jumps over the weekend. I love the new graphics, personally.

It is vital we are given an option to disable this.

I am trying to run 8 characters doing PVP. The jump effects make this nearly impossible. When I jump all 8 through a gate at once, my game literally freezes up for several dozen seconds. In that time a character or two will usually not receive the command to jump through, and end up sitting at the previous gate @ 0. By the time the game is unfrozen, those characters can easily be popped already.

The inherent risks associated with having this happen in a combat situation coupled with the frustration of having your game freeze up for dozens of seconds has caused me to completely give up on multibox PVP.

You have someone who's looking to provide emergent gameplay for the community and he has to quit doing so because the game lags too much when switching systems. That is not a healthy situation for a game that requires growth to be in.

EDIT: I have become aware that it might not be the actual jump effects causing the lag. It could be a separate issue related to servers (i.e. it might lag when it has to process 8+ chars from one connection). None the less, I can say one thing for sure: None of this happened pre-Odyssey.

yeah it has gotten better with the kronos fix, but still enough to make me nauseous when I have to make several jumps in rapid succession (such as burning with an intie as fast as i can some 20 jumps or so). why is a button to turn it off so darn hard? or just a setting that puts a black box over it.. anything!

I think CCP will fix this sooner or later.... I hope so anyways.

Don't get me wrong I love fancy graphics but a canned animation doesn't qualify. Now if you had to manually pilot though the jump gate that would be interesting.

Very much ^this.

EVE was never a game that had to "look good". The looks are a pure nice-to-have and totally irrelevant to all aspects of what makes EVE worth playing.

I find it highly irritating when CCP changes things without giving us the option to keep it the way it was.

If you think you can attract more/new players by giving us pointless shiny effects then you are dead wrong and wasting money on 3d artists tbh.

Seeing as how I was one of the early (and perhaps too vocal) critics of this "upgrade", l can't help but be amused that it's still a problem after my year long...vacation. Admittedly, it's better than it used to be, but that's not saying much, considering that a loading bar and blackout functioned better on just about every level, other than "ohhh, shiny".

Interesting. This thread is still going after 93 pages and over 12 months.* 'Can we turn off the new jump animation?' doesn't seem like such a hot topic, but I guess you never know....

I guess it depends on your perspective. If it was making you want to vomit it would be important. The only fix of "look away" while your playing is just silly.

It doesn't make me want to vomit so it's not that important to me. It's more of in the annoying category. I can sympathize because "Camera shake" makes me sick. Thankfully CCP has a check box to turn that off. There's no way I could play Eve if that wasn't there. I love Eve but not to the point of vomiting every time I play.

been playing EVE for almost a year now. The new method for warping is the only method I know of. But I can confidently say that warp jumping animation is the worst part of the game that I have experienced so far. I play on a pretty powerful laptop - Core I7, 8gig, HD Graphics. And I cannot simply upgrade at this time. Warp drive animations cause a slew of issues for me, every single time I jump - which includes but not limited to: (1) my graphic driver crashes every jump : "Display driver igfx stopped responding and has successfully recovered.", (2) background programs crash with windows windows error report - mainly IExporer but sometimes even EVE will crash. (3) after the warp, when it goes to black-screen, my monitor stops getting signal from PC and goes into stand-by mode, which I then need to fiddle around with the input settings just to get my display back.

So ya, I could definitely use a way to disable this feature.
