You know, I was recently involved in a 'hardening' exercise (involving non-sexual closing of ports and services on production servers to reduce opportunity for hacker access..) and it dawned on me while playing Watch Dogs last night..many organizations pay expert security folks to come in and perform server hardening reviews for them, so why not have solid mercs do that in EvE for your PVE or indy corporation?

Imagine...

You hire Devils, arranging the duration and bounds of the 'hardening exercise'. For example, your team is provided with advice at the start of the week's festivities on what and how to fly.

The arranged hardening takes place, with Devil's hunting and trying to blap your guys. The fear is removed because its a friendly exercise based on education and learning, with actual ISK losses minimized by our guidance on what (not) to fly.

A pre-arranged 'uncle' or 'safe word' can also be used, for when your team wants a pause in hostilities to reflect on recent engagements...

At the end? You and your guys have learned to defend yourselves against skilled mercenaries, and are thus now able to defend yourself in the future against griefing organizations that will wardec you.

So ask yourself, do you hire Devil's for a hardening exercise...or continue to roll the dice and wait for that griefing dec to land and destroy all you have built?
