Still holding on to the negativity personality huh?.....Roll

Anyhow, there's a nice amount of detail in this initial release in both interior and exterior views, and fun to hide behind asteroids to surprise targets, and that IFCS can be turned on of off which the off position allows way more aggressive maneuvers( to the point of passing out).

Being one of the earliest backers, i'll get to play the multiplayer side soon.....Twisted

No, but I think people who are developing a game set in space where you fly a spacecraft should know the difference between Geforce and g-force. It is not rocket science, now is it?

I agree, there was a substantial amount of information in this video but it remains to be seen how latency might affect it in larger skirmishes with other players. I know that the game will run instanced but do they have a cap on the number of players in one instance?

Not even CIG know the upper limit but it was quoted as being possibly 50~60 ships, which is understandable since all ships have full physics, have damage models and collision models, black out on extreme maneuvers and even the weapons are subject to physics behavior and available power from the ships core.

You can have an initial volley of energy weapons but the power core will have to recharge, and the same goes for shields as they absorb enemy fire and you can transfer power from one side to the side that's getting hit, and in the meantime you fire back with missiles while the power core regenerates, and the same applies to afterburners relative to power too.....It's why a pretty good joystick is recommended with a lot of buttons that can be mapped to specific functions....You feel a lot more like a pilot in this game.

All of this going on generates a lot of traffic on a network, and CIG stated it isn't intended to have 500+ ship fights like in eve...There's too much data to move not to mention rendering that many ships in that kind of detail will kill any PC setup on the market.

Latest 5 ships in competition for a light bomber, made by users and the final winner is on one month.

https://robertsspaceindustries.com/comm-link/transmission/13861-The-Next-Great-Starship-Episode-12-Vote-For-The-Save

Best ones are the first one at 2m30sec and the last one, though it looks too sleek for a light bomber but does look awesome just the same.

Following my previous post, we have to keep in mind that some of the ships released in the 2nd part of the DFM will be multi crew ships with up to 8 people, so you can imagine the madness in a firefight where the ship captain is trying to control all the systems on the ship, and 7 other guys manning turrets trying to shoot hostiles down.

It just gets nuttier as the ships get bigger with more crew and the ability to deploy their own fighters, so one can imagine the firefights not so much because there are a lot of ships at one given time, but all the gameplay complexity that comes with it and the ability to have boarding parties and the targets ship crew trying to defend it, while a ship battle is going on outside.....

Or run out of arguments as more and more of the game gets released as time goes on.....I know, it's hard to admit that one can be wrong and automatically assume the worst.

The DFM Has been delayed AGAIN!!!

https://robertsspaceindustries.com/comm-link/transmission/13863-Arena-Commander-Weekly-Report-May-5-9

" I know you’re all impatient to get your hands on the DFM, and believe me we’re all very eager to have it in the state that we can start to roll out it to all of you but as in any ambitious undertaking there’s still some details that we’re busy wrapping up in terms of the backend end, build deployment, matchmaking and network stability over the internet – All the while trying to balance and tune the core gameplay of the DFM.

We’ll have more exact dates to share by the end of next week, which we’ll update you with in next week’s report, but the goal is to start rolling out the DFM towards the end of this month...."

I actually feel bad for all the backers. You all have been ripped off...... I doubt this game will ever come out.

Maybe you have a bad case of ADD, but DFM stands for Dog - Fighting - Multiplayer and call me crazy but I seem to have mentioned this several posts ago, assuming you actually bothered to read them, that initially we'll have single player with NPC's to get used to the ship and setup all the controls.

The multiplayer portion will be announced in a few days and they have to get as many servers up and running for the initial 250 000 people that might log on, and it'll follow the citizen number( the day I signed up and contributed), which i'm citizen 15236.

Understand now or do I have to make it even simpler to understand?...

By all means, please continue to keep making up excuses and deflections. The DFM has been delayed how many times now???

This would be the Fourth

I guess backers can look forward to its release at the "end of the month" in 2026. Big smile

There was no official release date ever...the Most you or I can say is that they were hoping for a given date.

The December release would have happened if they continued to use the Crysis network code, but since it wasn't good enough for the final game, they saw no point in Alpha/ beta testing with that, so they made their own in the meantime and it turns out that the DFM is in good enough shape right now to be considered Beta, as most of the software bugs causing crashers and visual problems or ships not handling properly are dealt with already.

So what we're getting is already a beta mainly for ship and weapon balancing and checking network performance.

Have a nice day.

Hey now, big boys don't cry. At least Elite Dangerous has a premium beta out now that lets you play multiplayer and fight against friend and foe alike.

Since you have already paid for Star Citizen, you might as well chunk down the cash for Elite Dangerous and that has to be some kind of comfort right?

I can wait a few more days, though I must say elite dangerous does look nice when I saw the latest video, especially the docking in station feature and it also has Neutonian physics too.

One of the things that really impressed me with the Elite videos I've seen is that they really nailed being immersed in the cockpit of a spaceship. The sound design seems absolutely top notch, and the physics you mentioned seem to add a lot to the combat.

It's super early to tell whether SC will deliver on those points in the same way, but the in cockpit footage being shown is very promising. It's too bad that the DFM continues to be more of an acronym for "delayed for months" than "dogfighting module", because I'd love to be trying it out.

Well, considering the fanboy crusade you and raven got going for Star Citizen, I do hope Star Citizen turns out to be good but personally I find Elite Dangerous more immersive (that sound design.. ) and to be a more more fleshed out game than Star Citizen.
