Chris Roberts and CIG are doing in Star Citizen what CCP failed/refused to do in EVE Online. Even if they're taking their time to build the game right, it's only fair that they're the ones reaping the rewards for their dedication and hard work with a multi-million dollar cake.

I think they're running out of objectives if that's what's left to finance right up to the 46 million mark.....Roll

I voted for the space plant. Just wish the binary star system had won one of the previous polls' rewards. Better than smoking an alien space plant watching the sunset is only smoking it watching 2 sunsets Lol

Also the $42 million reward was a Gladius light fighter for Squadron 42. Maybe after this poll is done they'll start rewarding those TNGS competition ships for Star Citizen. That'd be awesome.

Few brutal looking ones in that competition also like how on few of them interior is not flat surface like on constellation on that ship u can pretty much see a dude in toilet and boarding party can put a bullet in your head from pretty much anywhere .

where some contest ships have nice break up multi floor interior.

You choke behind a smile a fake behind the fear

Other than that terrible dog fight demo has anyone seen any actual game content, gameplay or otherwise "tangible" results?

Chris Roberts will be happy to talk about it, after you spend a little bit of money.

Aren't all these stretch targets nothing but feature creep?

I will be impressed if anything is delivered in the end.

The dogfighting demo is going to be released in may just so you know, along with the arena commander and 4 game modes.

Nope. I signed up in the kickstarter phase in late 2012 and have 4 ships to try out, so it'll be fun flying in first person view, with real physics and ships that receive damage, where depending on how extensive, will impact the handling and overall performance of the ship....Blacking out due to extreme G-forces is a nice touch too, same as being able to destroy asteroids and even getting your own ship destroyed if you collide with one of them and ship boarding should be fun too.

Basically all sorts of stuff EVE doesn't have at all, and I've been hearing about EVE Valkerie for a while now, and haven't seen anything in terms of release date or beta testing for that matter....

I just keep hearing all the negative posts by the same people ever since this thread started a long time ago, so now that the game combat module is about to be released, they're having to eat their own words that a game that will push the limits of a PC, giving the finger to consoles and fully funded by end users is happening for real.

Anyone willing to place odds on the entire house of cards collapsing at the $50 million mark?

Experience has shown me that one can never be disappointed in the expectation of people disappointing. Especially when expectations are astronomical, money has already changed hands and an initial demonstration flops.

I was hunting for sick loot, but all I could get my hands on were 50 corpses[:|]..............[:=d]

Let me show you what a "house of cards collapsing" looks like: http://www.ccpgames.com/en/public-relations/press-releases/article/77171/ccp-games-halts-development-of-world-of-darkness-mmo/

If I were to place any odds I'd rather play safe and bet on how next year around this time both Dust and Valkyrie will be offline and their teams laid off and/or assigned back to EVE Online's skeleton crew.

Dust is practically a sure thing it will be since we now have the PS4 on the market, there's no news that there will be a version of it for this latest console, so all it's left with is a shrinking PS3 market as there's no PC version and no Microsoft version for the X360 or the Xbox 1.....It's got no where to go basically.

And yes, world of darkness is dead, even though I haven't seen even a demo of it and development started in 2006 when CCP acquired white horse, so 8 years later and it got officially killed.

Let's just say CCP aren't exactly a good reference when it comes to game releases and timelines and content releases.....They take they're sweet ass time.

Ok lets do a comparison. EvE Valkaryie, was demo'd at fan fest last year. It was a simple technical demo that a small team of CCP employees made to show off the rift. At fan fest it was announced that due to the demand ccp has decided to make it a full fledge game. So Valk has been in development for 1 year. And in that time, it has been displayed and in a playable mode at E3. GDC, and eve vegas.

Star Citizen has been in development since 2012. In that time you got a website.. and a hanger mod.. and that's it. People have forked over 46m for vapor. Drooling over something no one has played, yet oddly instead of focusing his money on making the damn game and growing it, he keeps adding random stuff. Some of which will increase dev time.

On the contrary, CCP has taken there own money to devlope a game, that the fans wanted. They have not asked us for any money, and have not been changing or adding goals that we know of.

Compairing the two is a joke. SC is either going to crash and burn because its too damn complex and won't make it (complex as in crap added to it), will be a smash hit, or will never see it to market.

If we take chris Roberts track record, he had to sell one of his games (wing commander or freelancer I don't remember which) because he keept adding crap, costing more money, and pushing the date back. Said game was then cut in 1/2 and was still a good game. Chris also made that pile of dog **** wing commander movie.

The point is, as no one has played squat of SC, you really do not know how it will be. But I can find several thousand people who have played Valk.

SC and EvE are not in the same leage, which is fine. It mearly means people who wan to can easily play both, and neither should 'kill' the other. I personally think Chris is just milking you all for all you are worth. And I would rather have a game in my hands I can play, then give them money so they can 'build a high tech sound studio' which they should of had already. I'm either going to laugh my ass off when the hype for this game turns out to be hype, or i'll applaud a good game. We will see,

The negative post tend to be people who look at you (the ones going 'ooh a new goal? take my money!" "oh I have to buy something to post on the forums?!? take my money!) like you all are crazy.

Kick starting is fine, but that's the point to 'kick start' a project. Chris has turned this into 'gullible people fund my project, I don't use any of my own money tee hee' in the end, you will also get none of the rewards.

But as I said, if its a good game then sweet. I'm not perfect, hell I thought the ipad would flop, what do I know lol.

I haven't put a dime in it since the release of the retaliator heavy bomber which happened last year, and the main ship in the initial kickstarter phase before that was a constellation package.

So I haven't been pouring money into it with every new objective that gets added, only the ones that interest me.

Comparisons, track records and rants apart, this is what it boils down to:

Chris Roberts and CIG managed to get $50 million in their pockets without even releasing a playable game.
CCP has a playable game but is facing financial trouble, getting loans and laying off 100 employee teams.

CIG commited to deliver the game that the majority of space mmo enthusiasts wants to play.
CCP had the chance to do it in 10 years in EVE Online development but chose not to.

CCP managers enjoy having a working game while going bankrupt. CIG would rather have a game in development and be wealthy.
