I play Dust 514 religiously...you may recognize my screen name as I'm a remote explosives menace on the battlefield.

I just downloaded EVE and started rocking out on the starter missions and lo and behold, I wasn't out of the royal academy school place for a minute before I got blown up.

So now I have no armor repair thing and gatling laser whatever multifrequency deal......and lo and behold I can't buy them from the market because they cost $149,000 isk and I only have 5000

so I can't complete the tutorial...what the hell do I do? This is freaking ridiculous. I'm supposed to PAY my money from my job to play THIS game when I can't even get through the starter missions and learn how to play the game without being killed IN ONE MINUTE?

Seriously?

You have been really unlucky.

If you need help the GMs can help you out, they can restore you ship and stuff in a couple of minutes.

If that doesn't help contact me in game and I can help you with a little ISK.

-

Dust is easy: you have a team, the other side has a team, everyone shoots and have fun.

Eve isn't that easy. P

Objective sighted. Target locked. Lasers activated. Pew-pew-pew. Die roid..., DIE!

I don't expect it to be easy....but I expect to be able to get my bearings and learn HOW to play the game and then if I suck, I suck but I suck honestly and not because imperial navy whatever whatever's just kill me the second I leave the captain's quarters.

Its just no bueno...you know? Imagine someone brought you a pile of wood and woodworking tools and said build me a chair in 5 minutes and if you don't I'm going to blow your head off with this here shotgun.

That hardly seems fair to me *shrugs* that's all.

How did you die? Was it a player, or NPC?

Edit: And were you in a mission?

You can check what killed you by going to your character portrait, and going to "Combat Log"

Eve will make you work a solid month all on your own for your first cookie. Then kick you in the nuts and take that cookie, and laugh at you for thinking you could have a cookie at all.

It says "No Kills"

I keep getting killed by "Imperial Navy" something or other...everytime I poke my head out of the royal school deal and try to go anywhere the second I arrive, I've got imperial navy something or others in my ass killing me.

When I got the weapons or repair system things or whatever else, I wasn't even out of the royal academy for 60 seconds before I was dead.

Something does not smell right.... You should not be getting killed right outside the station unless you fired on another player... We need more info before we can help...

Wait a minute, I see you are in a player corporation... I am guessing that your corp is involved in faction warfare and you are doing tutorials in enemy territory... drop back to an NPC corp for the tutorials. Also ask your corp about this situation, someone should be able to fill you in.

Edit: I see my comment is now irrelevant, and the problem has been solved.

Faction warfare limits your options in EvE rather than expanding them as it does in Dust. As suggested, stay in a rookie/non FW corp until you get your bearings. Then let a large chunk of space shoot at you.

I did a little digging and I suspect we may be getting trolled here... OP was in game for 10 minutes before joining a 1 man corp? Just doesn't seem kosher to me.

Here's the full story;

I opened EVE this morning, logged in and made my new character. I got in on this trial account deal and I walked around the captains quarters because its exactly the same as the merc quarters in Dust. I was pleased with this and being able to sit down on the couch lol

I opened the chat, added "comms.tnz" for The Neutral Zone (the corp I am in in Dust/Eve) and then opened the corp finder, searched out Neutral Zone, found it...applied, clicked over to the ps3 and accept my own application (I'm director of nzone)

I did what the tutorial said...hopped in my little capsule and warped out to pick up my ship. As soon as my little capsule guy got into the bigger impairor ship...I sat there for a minute reading the tutorial, BOOM! Blown up.

I was like well crap....but I saw an insurance message pop up and it was like hey we gave you a new ship so you're not SOL and I was like oh cool.

So I repeated the process, went and used to activation gate to hit a cargo bay thing like the tutorial said....hit the cargo bay, boom..immediately blown up by imperial navy something or other.

This happened 4 more times until FINALLY I got away and warped back to the school. I sat outside the school for a minute while I nuked myself a sammich in the microwave, came back...ship blown up sitting right outside the academy.

I was pissed by then but I did the next mission and it gave me some guns and repair stuff and I did the fittings and within 60 seconds of leaving the academy dock, I was dead.

Now I have nothing to complete the tutorial, no money to replace the crap and I'm sort of annoyed with that.

Leave your dust corp, it is what is causing your problems as it has bad standings with the empire you are trying to do tutorials in.

When you dock while in a pos you should be given a new rookie ship, check your ship hangar. With that ship you should be able to continue the tutorial.

Ok, so the deal is the corp you joined is involved with "Faction Warfare".

Basically, the Caldari / Amarr are on one side, and the Gallente and Minmatar are on the other side.

Lets say, for example, that you are in Caldari space, but on the Minmatar / Gallente team of faction warfare. The Caldari navy is going to attack you on site.

To remedy this, you must leave your corporation. Faction Warfare effectively makes you "kill on site" in half of empire space.

As for the lost modules and ships, you can either go to another starter zone and start the tutorial over, or you can open a ticket to a MG (I don't know if they will send you stuff), or you can create a new character, or if someone is willing to send you ISK, you can buy new stuff. You can also fly to any station while in your pod, and you will be given a free ship.

The stuff you lost is next to worthless, so don't sweat it.

Edit: It may also be because the corporation you are in has bad standings with the empire that controls the area of space you are in.

Eve will make you work a solid month all on your own for your first cookie. Then kick you in the nuts and take that cookie, and laugh at you for thinking you could have a cookie at all.

I'm not trying to "troll" anyone bro...I'm just trying to get a fair shake to learn the game like everyone else.

We see a lot of trolling on these forums (New Citizen Q&A in particular). Don't take his suspicion personally Cool

Also, he posted that before you explained what was going on :)

Hey everyone, thanks a lot for offering me help and assistance in this matter. I didn't realize our chosen side in Dust would impact EVE.

That makes perfect sense....thanks a lot, its saved me a lot of stress. I'm just going to biomass this character and remake it tomorrow :D

Thanks again...you were all really helpful.

You are welcome. Sorry for the lack of trust up there, have had people in the past pretending to be noobies just to mess with this forum. Good luck in your next incarnation, and stay away from player corporations at least until you have a better understanding of the ramifications of joining one :).

That he did!

To be fair, I probably would have done the same thing coming from dust, but you'd think he would have chosen the same race as his dust corp.
