On autopilot: You can usually get away with APing a ship that takes effort to gank and isn't holding anything of value (example: a battleship with only ammo in cargo, and that's cheaply PVP fit with two or three 1600mm armor plates). But why take the risk? If you want things moved, train Contracting to level 1, and post a courier contract. Let someone else take the risk and pay them peanuts for it.

Alright! Thank for the contracting tip. I'll go and read more on it. It's something unfamiliar for me now.

This panic is common. You have no strong affinity with your ship yet, you do not yet know what you are truly capable of. Please believe me, if I tell you that at your character age, you can already make 100 million+ solo kills. People often freeze up the first time they are confronted with 'non-consentual open world pvp'. The best way to get rid of it is to go to lowsec in a cheap ship, and try to be the agressor instead. You lose some sec status, and due to inexperience, probably your ship... but the freezing up part will go away fast.

Yeah. I know of people who fly really strong Frigates. I'm currently training mine to Frigate V because I find Stealth Torp/Bombers interesting. But most PVP fits are Gunships. My Missile skills are mostly at level III so I'm not sure if it's wise to switch to Gunnery. Interceptors are an option too. Any advises for this?

I ain't bothering about that CEO though. I did my part to reply nicely and apologized for my "stupid questions". Apparently he found it amusing to kick his hostility up a notch feeling superior. I blocked him and found a 10 million bounty on my head. I'm now amused he actually spent 10 million on me. Kinda made my day :)

Hiya ! like many people here have said. I love your attitude for this game !
I myself am a new pilot .. roughly 1 months 21 days new. and I find frigates LOADS of fun and affordable.
I am playing with the idea of getting to frigate V as well as destroyer V on minmatar, caldari & Gallente just because I have found them to be great ships and fun !
I wanted to answer you abit about missiles .. now I know I'm really new as well to the game , but I find missiles and rockets to be really effective at least so far for PvE and I have survived really tough combat sites at long range using my missile skills even tho it took longer to destroy the enemy it may just be me needing better support skills in missiles tho.. I have noticed that blasters ( short range hybrid guns ) have incredible dps.

I LOVE the way the Caldari stealth bomber / covert ops frigate called MANTICORE looks ! have you seen it ?

Yeah I've seen it! It looks really cool. Can't wait to fly in one in a week. But I've read SBs are better in a fleet because solo PVP it's quite hard to fly even with a skilled pilot. For PVE needless to say, missiles does most of the trick. I've learnt to kite relatively okay, but still trying to improve on it. At least I'm not dying in missions now. Heh..

Wanna do PVPs real soon even if I risk losing loads of ships because fellow pilots will definitely teach me more in 1 fight than doing 10 other missions :)

Bounties are a sign of respect. Own it.

He won't be the last fake person you find, but there are a lot of helpful people out there as well. When you get in to PvP convo everybody that kills you and see what you could have done better. Many will laugh and say they are the king but most will actually give you constructive advice. MMOs are all about interacting with other people - that's what makes it fun!

And this forum is a great place to ask "stupid questions" as the people that hang out here understand you are new and remember what it was like to be confronted with such a steep learning curve. Unless you come in with a bad attitude or obviously have put in no effort to understand and want to be spoon-fed, you'll generally get civil and useful answers here.

There's plenty of in-game channels you can go to as well. Rookie chat is ok, but usually clogged up with "where is the veldspar???" and sometimes has bad advice. Eve Tutors is a well known channel for new player questions. J'Poll has her own channel for similar purposes. I'm always happy to answer questions in private chat or my public channel whenever I'm online as well. Use all the resources you can find, because it's a rough game to take on by yourself and it's much easier and way more fun with friends. Big smile

Yeah. Learnt to look at the blip of a bounty as an affirmation instead of an aggression :)

I'll start to join up some public channels then!

Unless it's Chibbra. You can trust him!
I should find some public channels. I need something to amuse me in-game when I'm just doing stuff, and it's not a chatty Local...

I will not comment on Chibbra. But as a general rule, if anyone wants anything from you, they are lying.

And my public channel is House Forelli. All are welcome! Though I will kick anyone uncivil or making fun of noobs. Big smile

Just wanted to add, the e-uni public chat is also a great place to ask questions when I'm not trolling people about their lack of tanks.

Super fast lock-on? Well if you cram a Slasher full of sensor boosts then yeah, you can lock & scramble a pod easily. However, a Slasher won't hold up against gate/station turrets for very long.

Alternative is common: Pick a frigate/cruiser with a lot of mid-slots and cram it full of remote sensor boosts, scripted for lock times, and use it too jack up someone else's lock timer. Y'know, someone in a bigger ship that actually can soak those defense guns easily.

Because the booster ship is never actually "officially" participating in combat (they'll go yellow for aiding a criminal, but that's it) then the auto-turrets won't engage them. After all, they're not actually attacking you, now are they?

Just in case you were wondering how this is done.

Yes I am definitely doing well. Very well indeed. The people here definitely are kind and gracious towards my apparent lack of knowledge at this moment.

By the way, I read your replies on other threads. I'm pleasantly surprised by your replies toward others. Which means you can be helpful as well. Kudos to that and keep up the good job :)

Now that I learnt more about the game, yes it's a fast lock-on, but my bad piloting skills at that point contributed too. Haha. He's flying an Incursus and he's one of the top PVP players as well. If it's now, I'll at least be more confident that when I can't tank the damage, I'll at least be able to navigate away safely :)

It's worth baring in mind that Killboards are only accurate if the player who's board it is has supplied the website with a current and accurate API code. If a player has not supplied an API their killboard will only show kills on, and losses to people who have supplied an API.

I have Eve university's public channel open at all times. People there are freindly and know a lot about the game. They have been a great help for me so far.
