I will just link the timestamp for the dogfighting test (1:26:05 and onwards)

Warning: massive salivation, stressful wide eye opening and unprompted OMFGing may occur.

Oh, and they're just a couple thousand dollars away from making the 35th million... but that will be news tomorrow.

tbh, that "feels" terrible, I realise it's just an alpha demo but it's just like any other game Roberts ever made; looks cool, plays terrible.

looks way better than EVE....Check.
Has realistic physics for the ships...Check.
Has joystick support and plays in first person view...Check.
Has oculous VR support for those wearing VR heatsets for ultimate immersion...Check.
Has way more realistic damage models where ships will be falling to pieces by enemy gun fire....Check.
Has the same G force effect that make todays pilots pass out in extremely demanding maneuvers...Check.

I can see why some hard core EVE fans try to say it's crap before even trying it to begin with.....P

Well, it was supposed to be out in December, wasn't it.

And it's just a part of a game that's not even close to done yet, the combat is pretty much meaningless anyway.

And, 35 million reached.

This goal has been achieved through contributions from existing pledgers but also with pledges from over 6,000 new pledgers.

The 35 million stretch goal was the unlocking of a specialyzed information runner ship:

Drake Herald – Knowledge is power, and one of the most valuable commodities is pure information: the 1s and 0s behind everything from UEC ledgers to Citizenship ratings. Whether it’s colonists struggling to stay in contact with the UEE’s central worlds or criminals trading in illicit data, there will always be a need to securely move data. The Drake Herald, small, armored ship, is designed to fit that need and safely get that information from Point A to Point B. Featuring a powerful central engine (for high speed transit and generating the power needed for effective data encryption/containment), advanced encryption software and an armored computer core, the Herald is unique among personal spacecraft in that it is designed to be easily ‘cleaned’ when in danger of capture. The Herald includes an array of heavy duty internal options for data protection, including redundant power subsystems and EMP shielding, and a high-powered broadcast array for data transmission.

The goal for the 36tth million was voited by the community and willb ea star system showing a blach hole event horizon.

The goal for the 37th million stretch goal has been voted as a stelar graveyard:

Tanga System – At the heart of an unusual rectangular planetary nebula (see reference), lies Tanga System. The inner planets engulfed the star entered the red giant phase. The expanded habitable zone unfroze a small world on the former outer ring and for several hundred million years made it habitable. Life began to emerge and was just reaching a primitive state when the star collapsed into a white dwarf, throwing the planet back into a deep freeze, then blasting the atmosphere away with the resulting planetary nebula. That’s how the system was found: Only two worlds (speculation that there could have been three to four more) but both are dead planets with no atmosphere.

Voting for the 38th million goal is going on.

Initially it was, but that was with it using the multiplayer code that's built into the cryengine 3 dev kit, as the initial alpha involved a lot less players being eligible, so that would have been good enough to handle the workload.

Given that the amount of alpha slots has doubled, and that servers will be set up in europe and asia, and not just in the USA as was the case with the original plan, the dev team has to develop their own network code to handle all that extra workload....Cryengine's built in network won't handle it basically, hence the delay.

Is a multiplayer game not an MMO
Doesn't have a proper economy
Isn't made yet - Therefore too early too get man juice yet.

Does have a persistent universe where the actions of all players affect the game and it's economy, so that covers your first 2 points as it does quality as features of an MMO, but you are right it isn't done yet so we'll see what happens.

So far, the main distinction with EVE is that EVE runs on a single massive server and has no instancing, so anyone can find anyone else at a given moment and **** on their parade if they have the means to do it......Star citizen will be split across multiple servers and will have instancing for at least some of it's content.....

For some of those reasons is that I am personally not that convinced, because SC seems to behave with today's laws of physics, engineering and flying models. For a futuristic sim, it doesn't seem to look too far ahead into the future, like EVE. If I want to fly a thing that resembled a plane in today's world, I'd stick to my DCS A-10. Maybe it's me, but the rookie ships, look really bland. They're all symmetrical, and even have wheels. EVE spaceship design is far ahead in that dept. Perhaps Valkyrie will bring some of the elements from SC, that EVE lacks. Like walking inside the ships and hangars.
My theory is that Valkyrie could be the answer to SC. But somehow I doubt they can take on Chris Roberts with the absolute lack of knowledge in avatar gameplay that CCP has got.
I for one, will play it. And since I've only got time in life for one game at a time, will unsub while trying SC.

For that to happen, 2 things need to happen:

1: Star Citizen eventually getting boring as all possible objectives are achieved wich like all games will eventually happen, but might take a few years if GIC stays on the ball with content releases..

2: EVE adding objectives even for those that have 200+ million skill points and all the isk they could ever want and are alreardy flying the largest and most expensive ships in the game, as well as having the best hardwires and atribute implants and as of right now, they're still training skills and it won't be too long before a lot of vets are masters in several fields, even if they don't have level 5 in everyone of them.

There are some that already have over 250 skills at lvl 5 as it is you know?.

Off topic Post regarding another game with no input to the discussion at hand removed.

I feel like no game will be everything for everybody.
I encourage everyone who is curious about Star Citizen to try it when it releases.

Eve will be there when you find out it is not perfect either.
Come back to Eve and tell your CSM rep how Eve can be better.

Everyone Here who stays subbed and work hard everyday, (Either at CCP or as Players Creating Content) will be trying to make Eve the best it can be.

Lessons will be learned. Either way.

Arguing about a game that is not actually competition until it releases is just ship spinning.

Are you aware that, despite CCP having 6 years of headstart, I will play with an avatar first in Star Citizen, second in Elite: Dangeorus and maybe (MAYBE!!) third in EVE Online?

Picture me unimpressed.

That is as maybe but both of these games are at their core games about spaceships. Elite is one of the first games I played and the Wing Commander | Freelancer | X-Wing | Tie-Fighter games all have space combat as their core gameplay. Not that I have any objection to avatar gameplay, the original concept of WiS as most ppl understood it before Incarna was as an extension of the Eve Universe where avatars would let us do stuff like gambling, smuggling, assasination etc not just stand around posturing as in Terra What?
