Alrighty since this is the proper sub forum for technical issues hopefully we'll get some results. For those of us sadly stuck with Comcast as an ISP over the past two nights at around 10 pm Pacific Standard Time the socket has been closed on my connection to TQ and the connection to TQ's ip using trace route showed this:

16ms 19ms 24ms he-1-6-0-0-cr01.sanjose.ca.ibone.comcast.net [68.86.90.157]

After this line 5 ping the connection attempts to 87.237.38.200 result in a 100% packet loss. I've been on the phone with lvl 2 Comcast techs Roll and they literally have NO clue what is going on at all. One tech even said it was CCP's job to contact THEM about their network going bonkers.

I spoke to my fourth tech tonight about 25 minutes ago and he said it also was not only effecting the East Bay or general San Fran area but now Washington State when he too tried a trace route to TQ's ip resulting in the same packet loss. Seems like no one at Comcast knows what the hell is going on.

So can someone here at CCP possibly contact someone at Comcast and kick them in the ass to fix this? I'll be calling them back in an hour to "verify" that this was even put on their alert bulletin.

If you are having issues connecting or the server timing out on TQ and you have Comcast as an isp please post below and call them!

San Francisco Bay Area, CA Comcast
Happened last night at 10:00 PM sharp, happened again 10:00 PM.
Also cannot access the EVE support page, and the forums themselves run slow as molasses.

Confirming the same here. I can sign into my account through the Launcher, but can't connect to EVE with the following message:

"Could not connect to the specified address. Odds are that you have not established an internet connection, the server isn't running, or the server address or port number was wrong."

Location: San Francisco, CA

I've disabled my Norton Firewall, opened the 26000 and 3724 ports in my router, cleared the cache in the Launcher, ran a virus scan, manually changed the port via the Prefs.ini file to 26000, and more. Comcast is about all that is left at this point...

Just got off the phone with another tech who ironically games and was very perplexed by the issue seeing as my personal internet is fine, equipment is fine etc. He ran a traceroute as well and saw the issue with the node. I kinda caught it earlier and him and I sort of froze when I emphasized the bolded below on the faulty node:

sanjose.ca.ibone.comcast.net

I dunno about anyone else but "i bone comcast.net" doesn't sound like an actual official node so I'm leaning toward it being malicious. He said he's asking questions and trying to get any sort of answer and either they are hiding the fact their network was compromised or that they really have no clue what is going on...

San Francisco here too. Yesterday I ended up watching Hulu Plus in HD from 10PM until 5AM while waiting for Eve to return and had no other problems with other non-Eve connectivity during that time. Our house has been running Hulu and Netflix simultaneously while my other roommate is playing Minecraft and I have been poking around on the web with no issues during tonight's Eve outage. As I mentioned on the previous post this is why I mistakenly thought the problem was with CCP.

When I use my AT&T mobile ISP the avatars load just fine on the forums, and others have confirmed that this issue is indeed with Comcast. My question is if this issue is specifically targeted to Eve online, or something else rather specialized that Eve is a part of since the rest of my services seem unaffected.

this will help:

1. get aws cloud micro instance on ireland cloud (or some other to taste), micro instances are free
2. launch instance
3. download putty & puttygen
4. use puttygen to convert key
5. configure putty to connect to aws instance and forward port 26000
6. connect
7. launch eve.exe /server:localhost
8. play

only problem I have with this setup is that eve lost ui settings (like which chat channels you we're on etc)

I'm curious if there's easier way to do it.

PS.
just add elastic ip to the instance or they will bill you some tiny amount, you can of course start/stop instance so it's active when you play

...and we are back, about the same time as yesterday. Should I expect the connection to be down between 10PM and 4AM tomorrow too?

Somewhat odd that it seems to come back right after downtime isn't it?

To all facing this problem, I too confirm your experience. This has happened two nights in a row due to the San Jose node. Interesting I get this behavior after being routed to the San Jose node (and a few preliminary bounces) from Albuquerque, NM. I note that currently, my routing now goes from:

Albuquerque -> Los Angeles -> Texas (Usually this would show San Jose) -> Onward to CCP land eventually

Here the San Jose node seems to be removed entirely. I'll also contact Comcast prior to heading into work.

If the behavior is a pattern of a bot or a faulty node then yes. Seems like downtime temporarily fixes whatever issue it is then again around 10 pm drops like a stone.

Also had this problem, glad to know it isn't CCP.

Finding new and interesting ways to hate Comcast.

I'm staring at my client loader right now with this error code where my login should be:

Error -105 when loading url https://login.eveonline.com/oauth/authorize/?client_id=eveLauncherTQ&lang=en&response_type=token&redirect_uri=https://login.eveonline.com/launcher?client_id=eveLauncherTQ&scope=eveClientToken

Was on the phone with Comcast last night, and they put the blame back on CCP. Looks like I'm in Limbo and still can't connect.

Update: Went past Level 2 support to the Hardware Networking Support group. They verified there was a problem, but they don't have any active work being done to correct it and they're not real sure where the problem is.

"sanjose.ca.ibone.comcast.net" is a valid node, and ibone = international backbone (which takes you right out of the country).

The best they could tell me was to look into a VPN service to bypass the bad node in the San Francisco area. So that's my next plan of attack.

Update: Comcast's last update to its router reset the firewall to "Typical Security (Medium)" settings. Dropping the security settings down Minimum Security has restored my connection.

Note: I'm not suggesting you reduce your hardware firewall settings to overcome this problem, only sharing what I did to address my problems. Make sure to stay safe. :-)
