This is for all people who are complaining all day long how bad incarna performs.

I know that my PC is not the very best... its has a windows performancerating of 5.8 or something...

I run eveonline stretched on 2 monitors in 3200 x 1024/1080 (a) is 1920x180 b) 1280x1024) and I get between 20 and 30 frames in station and between 50 and 100 frames in space...

So I cannot really complain..Sure I would like to have >50 in station too.

I have all settings on high/highest, except of shadows...which drains fps.

Yesterday a friend borrowed me crysis2..

I run it in 1920x1080 with all settings on high (that is the lowest setting in crysis) and get lousy 13 fps.

The funny thing is..while running incarna...gpu temp is rising up to >80° and I think the fans are starting to lift of...
while playing crysis the system is very quiet...gpu is around 50°C and fan (autospeed) is at 28%

I wonder what would happen if ccp clashes crytek and if they would build UBERENGINE.

Loud and lousy performance one might think.. :D I would go for quiet gfxcard and higher framerate.. :D

However..in 1024x768 it is almost playable...videos are lagging...sounds are stuttering...

Incarna seems to use more ressources, but performs better.

crysis 2 looks good
incarna does not

crysis 2 is designed to be hardware intensive
no MMO is designed require processing power on the scale of the highest performance games at the time.

crysis 2, also has things going on the screen, incarna has relatively nothing.

I don't have to read this to know that it's a comparison of the performance of Crysis, a game known to tax the power of computers GPUs and CPUs, with CQ which is seen to be worse aesthetically then Crysis but pushes GPUs and CPUs worse.

The thing is that CCP's engine for working with avatars is brand new and has only had minor optimization done to it thus far (Duality was WAY worse so there HAS been optimization done....just not enough of it)

I wouldn't expect CCP to licence an existing engine (like Entropia Universe has by using cryEngine) cause they're just stubborn leaders in innovation the way they are. I don't like the bad performance as much as the next guy but I'm willing to wait and see what CCP makes of this in the long run seeing as how this engine is as revolutionary to them as was the creation of EVE itself back in the late 90s

It can only get better from here....right?

Regardless, Crysis 2 gives the player a lot more than just a room with a couch and a door.

Crysis 2 is less demanding on a system than the original Crysis.

The new Incarna engine seems to produce a 3D environment about on the same level of quality that CryEngine does, but we haven't really seen more than just CQ, so not sure if it will actually be on par with the original CryEngine or not. Granted, cloth is VERY VERY lacking in detail so far. It behaves more like a pasted on texture, which I was rather disappointed about.

I run CQ at max settings and get around 30-40 fps with an ATI HD 6750. My processor is a bit old though, and only dual core (E8200). My GPU temps stay below 60C, average is around 57/58C, gets up to 62C if I have 2 clients running.

I had to replace my HD 2600 XT last weekend because it was overheating playing EVE. Something in the last couple updates released over the past few weeks started majorly taxing my card for no apparent reason. I had some Best Buy cards laying around so I went and got a new video card and my machine has been running much better while running 2 clients. Not sure what happened to cause my old card to go from running around 68C to 74C and peg the GPU at 98-100% utilization while running just 1 client.

Beyond the fact that the CQ looks like crap (which I think is mainly the lighting) for how resource intensive it is, the biggest gripe I have with it is that it's got horrible movement and camera controls. Really it's just abhorrent. If they think anyone who's touched a real avatar based game is going to be anything but frustrated with this system they're seriously deluded.

No strafe no ability to put camera in chase mode, no first person perspective, can't look at your avatar from the front.

There is no excuse for this, they should have simply licensed someone else's engine that works and has good controls would have saved a fortune and ended up with a better product, plus they'd have had to put a transition to change engines which would mean we'd have had a friggin disembark button. As Jade said they decided to reinvent the wheel only they ended up with a wheel that isn't quire round and the edges rub on the suspension.

The CQ isn't shipping level work it's more on level with a pre-alpha technology demo and a poor one at that..

Seriously gamers typically value game-play over visuals. Hell just look at WoW looks like **** sells like hotcakes.

I can't stand when people cannot communicate properly.

You 'borrow' something from someone.

You 'lend' something to someone.

The pass tense of the verb 'lend' is 'lent'

So what you mean to say, is "Yesterday a friend lent me Crysis 2"

Compare the large world of Crysis and all that's going on. You have crazy level of detail, tons of enemies shooting at you, dynamic elements like tree leaves swaying in the wind, etc. And it looks stunning. Crysis was always built with the highest of the highest end hardware in mind and is meant to push the limits of current technology to its extremes.

Incarna (so far) is a tiny, static room with no one but you (Forever Alone Minmatar Closet, as someone on EN24 posted), and zero dynamic content. Yes, it looks decent, and is the best there is for an MMO, but it doesn't even hold up to other current and past FPSes out there in terms of overall quality. The level of detail is nowhere near as high as other run of the mill FPS 3D engines on the market, and it's practically setting peoples' GPUs ablaze.

If you think that's acceptable, you seriously need your head examined.

People were constantly telling me I was crazy. For a long time I didn't believe them, but after a while, I started to think they might be right.

But it turns out that they were all wrong. One of the voices in my head is a psychiatrist and he says I'm perfectly sane.

I must be the only person who's computer doesn't explode when running Captain's quarters. Given that I'm running on a crappy package dell, I have to question what's up with the rest of your computers.

CCP already said CQ is a stepping stone toward what they really want to do; it's a large scale test. Take a minute, take a deep breath, plug in a new monitor to replace the one you punched through, and let them work out the kinds. CCP has always advanced the game by making a long series of small improvements rather than knee jerk overhauls. It's one of the reasons it tends to work in the end. I don't see why this should be any different.

you might laugh...wifes computer is also a crappy package dell upgraded with my hyper advanced nvidia 96something GTS 4wheeled 16Valve wtf... and she is getting 7 fps...and she still plays it with incarna on, because her char is so sexy.

Funny, I (and most others) seem to find crysis2 runs better, cooler, and better looking than CQ... What?

Check your drivers for any funky settings you may be forcing.

Captain's Quarters provide the perfect amount of space and privacy for doing hookers. Crysis 2 provides an entire city where hookers once lived. Discuss

The reported Windows Experience Index doesn't mean squat about your computer.

Unless you go into the details, it gives you the lowest score which is most likely your primary HDD. My tower says 5.9 because of that, but everything that matters is 7.5/7.7. And that in itself shows how worthless the check is for gaming because my graphics card is only a GTX 295 and there are only 0.2 points left on the scale to account for upgrades.

I think some people are getting confused with Crysis 1 and Crysis 2.
Crysis 1 was a game only the people with the scarily good computers could play on highest settings when Crysis 2 was optimized extremely well so normal computers can actually play it on a good setting, probobly because it also came out on consoles

Plus Incarna doesn't look bad its just unoptimized and a bit dark and small

Now, more than ever, we need a dislike button.

Windows index for me is 7.0 with my video card (ATi 6770) being the 'weakest link'. I have an SSD, so my drive rates at 7.2. And I can easily run 2 clients with CQ enabled. Although running a 3rd jacks my temperature up significantly. I'm not sure what CCP did, but in the original release of Incarna 1.0, running 1 client sent my temperature through the roof and it was slow running only 1 client. I disabled the CQ right there, and only re-enabled it recently. I'm not sure what CCP did since then, but it seems to have alleviated a lot of the performance issues.

People were constantly telling me I was crazy. For a long time I didn't believe them, but after a while, I started to think they might be right.

But it turns out that they were all wrong. One of the voices in my head is a psychiatrist and he says I'm perfectly sane.
