If you already have the hi resolution textures to ships, you should lead the devs to discover some way to deliver it to us.

We need hi resolution now! It like live the life without glasses, knowing they are somewhere near us.. Hi resolution are the rise of the new capsuler age!

I guess he doesnt mean that the download size is the issue but performance cuts from the client that arise with it.

I guess he doesn't mean performance cuts but deployment and asset management issues within the client.

The kind of thing you'd know about if you were a programmer.

Well they said they have most textures at 4 times the size. I assume that means 4 times the height and 4 times the width. That means 16 times the number of pixels. If we assume no additional colour depth, then the texture pack would be 16 times the size of the current texture download. So if the current textures take up at a guess 2GB, then the hi res pack would be 32GB. The 2GB is obviously just a guess, honestly have no idea.
