This has been more about selling one persons vision for a game they would like to play than it has been about the game its self.

It is the first game where I have ever thought, well I will need a new computer just for that, No Worries.
$500 for a HOTAS and another $500 for Pedals, sounds good.
I might want 3 bigger monitors and an TrackIR, awesome.

Will it compete with EvE, yes/no it is similar as it is a space game but it will more pull on the strings of everyone who played Wing Commander, Freelancer or even Elite.

And the graphics so far are just out of this world and make EvE look like an old VGA game by comparison.Lol

As to the ships we can buy now, they are apparently a small amount compared to what will be available at launch, especially the capitals.

Heh. Such obvious parallels between SC cheerleaders, such as yourself, and Apple nerds that it is just tragic.

The difference being that the petty smug minority it's EVE players, not SC pledgers and supporters.Lol

Petty, smug minority here. Am I the only person who watched their much-ballyhooed motion capture for avatar movement and thought that the result was terrible? The pilot walks, runs and especially climbs like a cyborg on meth. There's nothing natural about it.

As to the rest of it: the idea is interesting, and the concept art sure is pretty--but then, so is EVE's. As for the rest, I'm content to reserve judgment until it ships.

Does sound a bit like something a Apple loving person would say.

Now admit I have a $400 joystick/pedals and trackIR but its certainly not for StarCitizen. Nor would I feel the need to purchase such hardware before the game is even released.

You mean the not-even-alpha placeholder animation on the hangar module? Something makes me think that it's not exactly what they were talking about.

Ironically, the not-even-alpha placeholder avatar in SC already can do more things than ours do in EVE.

Chris Roberts was always about story telling and graphics that only support the newest hardware.

Most Gamers are always judging new games on what they can perceive first: screenshots, trailers, hear-say, first impression tests, demos ...

Of course eve is in a bad position:
- the number of subscription based games dwindles.
- people willingly pay more to a F2P or over-hyped AAA title (but usually also quit faster. Low entry and exit barriers)
- people think they can't catch up with vets in EVE because it's been out for then years. (Thanks other MMOs for indoctrinting people.)

Yet eve is the only place where your virtual items matter (you can potentially lose everything). Everything else is just cool for a couple of months ... and only if you haven't experienced anything better. I have 2 games that made my heart race: Doom in 1993 and eve since I've been playing.

I'll stick with eve.

Don't anger the forum gods.

Quite possibly, I will go play with my IPod while you can keep using your ZuneLol

The basic fact is SC looks exciting and does not have a publisher to worry about, while EvE is so worried about their own Greed little else matters to them any more. Look at their development budget, up 50% and what does EvE get? A crappy patch, nothing more. They are so busy on their other games and tablet interactions they seem to have forgotten about EvE.

SC is not funding WoD, Dust 514 and Valkyrie, they are just working on SC and it shows.

Any spelling, grammatical and punctuation errors are because frankly, I don't care!!

Zune? I already got a phone that are quite capable handling whatever music fileformat I happen to throw at it. Get with the times...

Well, it does sound to me that you're more busy with convincing yourself that Star Citizen is exciting than providing any solid arguments for why every one, especially staunch sceptics like me, should be excited for Star Citizen. I haven't seen anything from Chris Roberts that was jaw dropping and made me jump out of the chair and shout 'holy tapdancing shitballs!" with arms raised.

It would be rather strange if Chris Roberts suddenly decided to work on a another developer's properties just like that, one might say?

Frankly I am happy not to provide you with any evidence.

For the same reasons I started playing EvE are the same reasons I am going to play SC.

EvE was more advanced than SC is now, when I started playing but it was still bloody horrible, there were so many things wrong with it, the POS code was crap, the whole of Null sec was crap, lo-sec did not really have a point ect..

What EvE did have back then was a vision, it sold me on what it wanted to become with WiS and atmospheric flight, huge battles with meaning and fun along the way.

Years down the track we still have crap POS code, crap Nullsec, lo-sec still really has no meaning, no WiS, no atmospheric flight, and even though we have huge battles CCP has made that into he who has the biggest cheque book wins.

There is no exciting vision for the future here for EvE, there is for WoD, EvE Valkyrie and well Dust is just a corpse that they throw money at.

Now maybe Chris Roberts vision does not start as wonderfully great as we all hope it to be but they will continue to work and that vision will continue to be there and who knows maybe in 8 years he will lose his vision and start to believe 'Greed is Good'

That is why I will back SC because it has a vision, while CCP seems to just grope around in the dark and fund development on everything but EvE. Look at their development budget 50% increase for 6 months up to 12 million dollars and what does EvE get? A patch, nothing more.

Any spelling, grammatical and punctuation errors are because frankly, I don't care!!

I know how that feels. It's been years since the last time I had an answer to someone asking "Why should I play EVE Online?".

First it looked like "why should I do crack?", now it's feeling like "why should I do krokodil?"

Don't need to bother, son. Probably you won't like it. And if you like it, the world will be a nicer place if you don't develop that potential for depravity. Lol

For someone so incredibly butthurt over a stupid game, you certainly should click that uninstall button and erase whatever trace of EVE Online left on your computer. Reading your posts has since long turned into like reading someone inflicting self-harm rather than doing the intelligent thing and seek help.

Lack of better things to do with your time and/or life than to whinge about a computer game on the game forum, I imagine?

It's a metaphore on how EVE is addictive, it's not the real stuff, it's destructive, and has become worst on all three accounts over a period of time.

Halloween is here! I too have embodied the spirit! The world swirls around me as the Citizen's voices grow lowder!!!"

Just logged in to my account on RSI Store and bought the "Name A Newly Discovered Star System" pack for $5000 USD. Roberts emailed me and told me there was none left but I gave him the money anyway. Then bought a "Shut Up And Take My Money" pack on top for another $5 USD.

Why would I delete a game with years of paid game time? Even if I don't like the game, I still get to play on the forums but you see I do like EvE, it is CCPs actions and poor customer service I have a problem with.

And as you have had so much time to read all of these posts of mine, which one of us has no life? Lol
