We are glad to inform you that with immediate effect we introduce mandatory email verification for all new EVE Online accounts. Already existing accounts can optionally verify their email with an according button on Account Management.

We have also added a nice little feature that may help those of you with multiple accounts; you can see all accounts with the same email, directly from Account Management.

For more details how to verify your email and the benefits of email verification, please read CCP Stillman's dev blog Email verification and you!

Cool. Will this become mandatory for existing accounts at some point? And also, will we ever be able to use the security dongle we got at fanfest... 2012?

once we’re ready to discuss further some of the other projects we’re working on, accounts with verified email will be able to opt into these new systems without having to verify their email at that time.

Or an app! I don't need anything else on my keychain!

Enter grid and you're already dead, destined to be reborn and fight another day.

Does this mean I can type the email of a friend an see his username or even if he has more accounts? I think nobody uses a seperate email only for EVE or much less for every account.

EDIT:
I had my second account showing there. Then I changed it to a friends email* and back again and now it shows another of my accounts and a random one that I never heard of.

*he verified it

Nice, but the confirmation email (at least the German one) is a bit annoying to use:

- The activation link isn't clickable.
- The activation link is right inside text, so copying it is even harder.

Could you add a paragraph right before and after the link and make it clickable in the HTML version of the mail?

Do you use hotmail? It tried it and it wasn't clickable in hotmail but in googlemail it is.

Yeah. Hack one, hack all, beacause most use the same password for all accounts.

Exactly and this way, they suddenly got the list of all accounts instantly.

Might as well list all the characters on each account too. That way when they try to login to account management from a different IP later they don't have to go login to the game first to get a name of a character on that account to answer the challenge question.

I don't judge people by their race, religion, color, size, age, gender, or ethnicity. I judge them by their grammar, spelling, syntax, punctuation, clarity of expression, and logical consistency.

yep... that's not cool when you get hacked but why on earth would you use the same password twice? On the interwebbz? Now that's just asking for trouble.

2011.

I suspect that was Sreegs' baby and with his departure I'm not holding my breath for anything to happen with them soon.

I tried to verify my email but received mail on russian. Why? Language preference based on my location or there are other criteria? How to stop this "we know better what you need" madness from CCP side and choose default language once and for all?

Also email verification is a good thing, but when will we get proper Email Authorization that is common standard in other MMO's? (Switched IP subnetwork, provider or location? Get an email!)

And whatever you do, don't accidently click that second link.

Nice is this the first step towards having a single account for all characters/subscriptions?

If I could add a suggestion. I verified all my accounts. I use a Gmail account. When they all come in with the same subject line they all get put in the same thread. Maybe put like a unique request identifier or something in the subject line. This way they don't all collapse. Just My 2 cents.
