So you play a game despite what the game is.

Back to square one again: YOU don't define the game in a sandbox. I can play EvE just to see pretty Hubble images if I want, and since you're not paying my sub, you have zero say on the matter.

The game isn't your definition.

But thanks for showing why EvE's crime system isn't in other games. Yeah, go ahead, mock and be a school yard bully with your rag tag team of busybodies for even more effect. Drag in 4chan even. And see why it's not healthy.

Sure, but why not just use your normal web browser to visit the same sites?

Other than that, of course he (and everyone else) can define the game. That's the beauty of the interconnectedness of a multiplayer sandbox.

Actually, being judged by thugs is a compliment.

I don't accept this EvE criminal culture. Just play the game for it's elements, and keep far, far, far away from what the criminals consider "fun".

That's your cup of tea, just don't bring it to other games that's a tad healthier in the mental department. Straight

But it's OK for you to push your agenda and idea of "fun" to people who believe the freedom to have a criminal culture is what makes Eve what it is?

You either genuinely believe your own rhetoric, or you're a troll playing the metagame, either way you're a hypocrite.

This demonstrates another problem you have. "The Lens" through which you view everything is cracked ie your perceptions are bad which leads to bad conclusions.

If your lens worked properly, you would see that I did not speak AT ALL about how you choose to play the game. I don't care that you spend 15 bucks a month to fly around looking at pretend stars when you could look at real ones by stepping outside and looking up at night (lol). I don't care if your idea of enjoyment if autopilotion from Rens to Jita and back again all day. TO EACH HIS OWN.

I don't not try to define the game.

YOU defined the game and it's community, and have basically said that you don't care for it. This game was created by Icelandic psychos to be "cold, harsh and dark" and to attract a certain crowd. It has done that.

Yet here you (ms "Johnny come lately") come, playing a game whose core, whose SPIRIT you despise while having the gall to suggest that there is something wrong with those of us who actually like EVE and it's community for what it is: raw, nearly unfiltered adult gaming. In other words, we're the normal ones, your the crazy crackpot that people tend to avoid in the streets lol.

You're constant deriding of this community (based on ignorance, you should have researched EVE before choosing to download and play) is as dumb as someone walking into a place CLEARLY marked "strip club" and then getting mad because you see exposed boobs. Not paying attention to where you are (and understanding the history of the place) is YOUR fault, not the game's. And not mine.

I'm just going to add this in here and let people run with it.

One of the things I like about SC is you don't get a new ship when you die. In fact, you don't get a ship when you start out (unless if you pay for one with real $ or run through the military and buy one after x amount of missions). So, it's highly possible you can play the entire SC game without owning a ship. Like instead of owning a ship, you can just work with someone on another ship.
(BTW, like EVE. There is a ship insurance. Unlike EVE, there are already restrictions on when it will be used. Below is a quote from RSI (the makers of SC)
"Insurance may be temporarily suspended for ships with outstanding bounties.Proven cases of insurance fraud will result in invalidation of insurance on that ship and may result in large in-game fines.")
Also, unlike EVE. You can lose your ship in other ways of PVP/E. You can run out of fuel, people can take over your ship, someone can take out your engines, etc. So between the 2. You have a higher likely of losing a ship (based on what we know so far)

Then to top it off, there is a rating system like on ebay. If you suck at working on a ship, people will rate you low (you can also rate them low). But, this means no one will hire you if you suck. So... thats the end of your game.
(I think an example of the rating system is freelancer.com. If I hire someone and they suck. I can give them a super low rating, and they most likely won't get another job. (I've done that, and that has happen to some people that I gave low ratings too))

While on EVE you have a no ship no problem. You just get another ship. In fact, you can suck at whatever, and you can just keep getting new ships. Of course word can get around, and that may keep people from playing with you. But, since there is rating system, there is no word to mouth and your employment history. (I'm not talking about joining a corp. I'm talking about doing whatever with a group or corp.)
People says EVE doesn't hold your hand and it's like RL. Well what I said above is how EVE holds your hand.

Free noob ships and ship insurance isn't hand holding.

And you speak as if SC already exists. I wish I had the guts to argue an existing games features vs a proposed game's wishlist lol.

Compared to SC where you don't get a ship unless if you have insurance on it. Yes it is.

The insurance part isn't. But, having no insurance restrictions is.

Yes SC isn't out yet, but I'm going off of what they wrote down as what will happen. It's kinda like if CCP wrote some update they are going to add in the future (which I think they should). We must assume it's going to come out if a company like CCP or RSI writes this crap down.

BTW CCP's future updates is fair game in here. Even more so when they have a release date (or about) attach to them.

I think you can on here in EVE and SC. Like in the starter systems in both games, you can't really die from PVP. But, you can outside of that. But like EVE, there will be cops to take out down. (IDK if they blow you up like they do here. Or arrest you like they would in RL)

Knights Armament wrote:

Sadly, I think that's common now in MMO. The good thing that SC crew said is they will have a limit on how much you can buy per month or something. They said this should stop the rich in RL from overpowering everyone else.
They didn't say what the limit was. So this could be nothing more than smoke.

EvE is a time sink. These time sinks exist when the lonely, the unemployed or disabled have nothing else to do (otherwise people wouldn't need these games as time sinks, just amusement and in a healthier environment).

I will admit EVE is a time sink. But, normal people have needs and get bored too. I'm not saying there isn't any unemployed or disabled people on EVE. But the statement you quoted was a blanket statement. It was meant to cover all types of people.

As far as the "social experiments". There is a lot easier and cheaper ways to do these types of experiments. So what I am getting at is. While it could be a "social experiment" to some players. EVE is a game, and nothing more. (I wouldn't doubt some teachers are having their students go in EVE and test their social experiments. Many physiology teachers do this with other games, sites, and so on. But, these experiments tend to last about a week or less.)
