Star Citizen is way overhyped. People seem to forget that pretty much all the major features were cut out from Freelancer before it was released and the game wasn't that good. It was also meant to come out 2000 but it got delayed to 2003 and they started working on it 1997 so that's 6 years.

Freelancer was good, just not as good as it promised it would be. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Freelancer_%28video_game%29#Reception ("i know wikipedia isn't a "source" but it links to sources lol). I loved Freelancer and liked privateer, and the Wing Commander games remain some of my most treasured videogame memories (Die Kilrathi DIE!).

i even read those god-awful Wing Commander Novels lol.

And with the advances in game making and technology, Star Citizen probably won't suck. But it probably will not be this "messiah" game that people are getting their hopes up for. Even is it is half as epic as Roberts wants it to be (which means I will play it, I love his games), it still won't be EVE.

There are people who play EVE (as evidenced by some who posted in this thread) who just play this game because they like space and EVE is the best (but not only) space game around. But they'd prefer a more tactical "pilot level" experience. Those people will leave EVE and never look back, but then, they were never really part of EVE to begin with, now were they?

But that's ok, to each his own. The suggestion of this thread that CCP should somehow make major changes to EVE to keep a few "fighter jocks" who shouldn't be here anyways is silly, in fact it's just those same fight jocks being opportunistic (trying to stoke community fear to get ccp to give them what they want, macharieal with joysticks lol).

I've said it before, I'll say it again, the only thing that has ever and can ever negatively affect EVE online starts with a "C" and ends with "rowd Control Productions".

EvE is a time sink. These time sinks exist when the lonely, the unemployed or disabled have nothing else to do (otherwise people wouldn't need these games as time sinks, just amusement and in a healthier environment).

After listening to that audio of the Rev going down, and listening to grown men act like that, yeah who plays these games aren't the norm, especially if this social experiment called EvE doesn't have firm controls (and outside supervision, because how tunnel vision works).

EvE operates like that Stanford prison experiment, but this time the profs aren't pulling it when it gets out of control (they can't even police it at this stage, it's now the cultural "norm", and like how crime festers in the slums of society where it's more accepted, it weaved itself into it's EvE's society to where it works as a flophouse). That social experimentation stuff isn't done in MMOs because it hurts people (ethically wrong, in an industry that doesn't police itself even). EvE's rep is it's tough, but what makes it tough? Not that the game is difficult in itself to play, it's because it allows thugs to play the game. Complete with the junior high bullying as the norm (day in and day out what do folks do for fun? Kill, destroy, maim and scam. A steady diet of that what do you think happens to people? Magically it doesn't do anything? Like magically you're not physically affected by playing on computers? No). It's like a throwback to 1961 Alabama and segregation in full swing (heck that's fine description, because you can't even get into a fleet in EvE without the racial slurs -- really that rager called another a racial slur? Maybe the rest of the world needs to live under desegregation, because it's crazy how much hate is in the game).

I'm not interested in playing The Matrix: Godfather Redux. I only play select parts of a game, the rest of the tomfoolery (like this crime social experiment) can stay in a galaxy, far, far away...and including all the ragers and weirdos to go with it. Straight

So SC may or may not be a healthier play environment, but as long as the players have options and not be forced to play social experiments gone wild, it at least maybe a better game for the more "mainstream" gamer since we don't have a socially responsible space sim.

If you think EVE is an unhealthy experience, WHY ARE YOU HERE? Are you some kind of warped masochist?

EVE has been EVE since day one. It's supposed to be how it is, AND WE LIKE IT that way. I can only speak for myself, but EVE is to me the most honest, grown up game i've ever played. Like real life it's full of pitfalls and treachery, it rewards ruthlessness and creativity and punishes stupidity.

It's fine that you like games that coddle you and protect the weak, but why not just enjoy those games if you hate EVE so much?

It's a rhetorical question. The honest answer (that you won't admit to yourself) is that, at heart, you are a reverse-griefer, someone who trolls game forums trying to grief people you don't like. The problem is, you should be happy EVE exists, because people like me having EVE to play lessens the chance of you encountering us in other games...

No, because adults can differentiate between in game and real life. Roll

Thug life, yo.

Holy ****! We should re-name RvB to be Crips vs Bloods! (or is that already implied in the whole "red" and "blue" thing?)

Actually, being judged by thugs is a compliment.

I don't accept this EvE criminal culture. Just play the game for it's elements, and keep far, far, far away from what the criminals consider "fun".

That's your cup of tea, just don't bring it to other games that's a tad healthier in the mental department. Straight

So you play a game despite what the game is. That's what you never seem to get, the problem isn't us, it's you.

I'm a PVE player I don't do "thug" stuff unless you are a Blood Raider or Sansha, but npcs don't have feelings so it's ok. But I understand the nature of the game and it's community enjoy that nature rather than the fake BS nature I've seen in other game communities. If i didn't, i'd be a fool to stay here.

It really speaks to why so many dislike you (which you will simply dismiss again as "troll" and"thugs"). You are a misfit, not because of how you play, but because of who you are. Like all such warped personalities, you imagine external causes to internal problems.

Seek help.
