Evelopedia is constantly wrong and inaccurate.

There is an ISD community that can do it because you are too cheap too. Make it happen, because it is honestly embarassing that the 3rd parties you wanted to charge to develop applications to interact with your API can develop content for you. Yet, your own simple services like, "what is this." Is completely wrong.

OP is right a game as complicated as eve needs an updated evelopedia. If they made it user changeable it would be updated quickly I suppose.

Agreed, the information on EVElopedia is hopelessly out of date.

I offer a low level simple solution to the problem. I do not want to be a jackass that just complains. I suggest opening the wiki to edits either managed or done completely by the ISD should be acceptable. I do not mind if it takes some days, weeks, months but there is information 2-3 expansions old.

Maybe I should have put this in features and ideas. Just something to raise awareness about the wiki and get people brainstorming solutions. Maybe one ISD position can moderate the edits submitted to pages.

The wiki is an important PR tool for new people looking to get into the game. You look up cruisers and there is still information about mining cruisers. Trying to make this as community driven as possible. We are shedding light on a problem, lets fix it.

Thread locked for cleanup.

With my patented Ginsu knife, I have sliced off the offending parts of the thread.

In answer to the OP, there is a branch of ISD that is dedicated to updating the wiki.

As you are probably aware, we ISD are volunteers. Not paid employees, and as such, we volunteer our time and energy to help make the game we enjoy a better place.

I will bring this to the attention of my superiors.

I will unlock this thread, but please keep personal attacks out of it.

I wish to apologise for my attitude and actions.

The OP has a valid point, and I had no right to say what I said to him, or any of the other posters in this thread.

I am unreservedly sorry for causing this thread to be temporarily locked.

For me the biggest problem isn't as much out of date articles as it is out of date stat blocks. CCP has been doing a lot of ship and module re-balancing lately, so the item database is horribly out of date (and a number of new ships and modules are absent). As far as I can tell, that information was auto-generated from a database dump. CCP needs to do another one so the stat blocks on all the items match what's in the game.

Furthermore, I would recommend, CCP continues to do one every major expansion where something gets updated. (so refresh the wiki's item database every 6-12 months, that shouldn't be too huge an effort)

Yes Yes Yes! Please , Update your official source of information. !

And why is it edited by volunteers only?

Seems like it should be updated straight from patch notes, but idk, i just play here, lol

CCP should really tell us when they go on holiday so important posts like this don't get ignored.

Please do update the wiki. If you can't do it yourselves give the players editing rights.

CCP should mirror Eve Uni's wiki, as they are simply doing a far better job at keeping up with updates. I always tell my corpies to never trust the original documentation but to use Eve Uni Wiki, Goonwiki and Eve Survival instead. Quite a sad state of affairs when 3rd party alternatives are more accurate then the official wiki.

Like all the information from this page which comes up on goggle when you search the site name? Yep, might be time to pay a few people to work on that thing...it's a full time, year round job at this point from the looks of it just to bring it up-to-date.

+1 100% AGREE, as a new player my self nothing has been more annoying than looking something up in evepedia to see that not only is there very little information but it's outdated or useless. It'd be nice when you look stuff up to see what makes them useful or what they might have, like the combat sites and relic sites at certain levels or specific sites. It'd be nice to have some more information on them.

I have a solution. I never read it...

Everyone is always repeating the mantra "Don't Trust Anyone" ad nauseum... If I can't trust the guys I play with, why bother playing with them at all? Fly Solo...

I don't speak up on these forums often, but I would like to add weight to this request. It is disheartening to refer new players to the official documentation only to have them encounter completely incorrect information.

Please do lend some priority to updating the wiki; it needs it desperately.

It's like Evelopedia, like many wikis, doesn't have an "edit" button so you can help the community by updating out-of-date information yourself! Preposterous!

so how do we apply to be an ISD to update the eveopedia?
