Can we turn off the new jump animation?

Advice for people who (claim to) get motion-sick: Whenever you see the word "Jumping" big on the screen, close your eyes for a few seconds until that jump tunnel sound has ended. There you have your blackscreen, problem fixed.

This is an amazing effect and it really ties together the systems so that I no longer feed like I'm playing in isolated systems. Everyone now feels connected.

Kudos CCP!

+1. I tried it out through highsec before and everything feels so much smoother, and they have killed a lot of loading time for me (granted I play with a high end PC so I don't have graphical lag issues like the OP).

To the OP, this animation is the sort of thing that graphically makes sense a lot more than anything to do with WIS. It is a fantastic change.

I recommend upgrading your computer, as I would bet a sizable sum that is where the problem lies.

For once, i honesty cannot think of a thing i do not like with the new expansion, directional scanner looks awesome, jump effect awesome. The one smooth transition between systems awesome!

Second time I see that response.

The current new, for some motion sickness inducing Jumpgate animation, and I'm included with those who start to feel sick after 2-3 jumps, was there to replace the black screen and/or loading bar from the past.

Quite ironic that to not get sick you have to resort back to a "black screen" = closed eyes?

The new Jumpgate animation looks beautiful, sadly it also makes some of us nauseated. Which is just plain bad design.
Can we agree that there needs to be a fix for this?

Please, Please CCP give me a option to switch off the new jump animation.

Some people have motion sickness (Simulation sickness)

See the camera moving and moving and moving make me puke after the 5th jump trough a gate and make this game unplayable for me.

Let the animation as is if people like it but give us a option to turn off.

THis is just same exact mistake as Incarna. Forcing an FUNCTIONALLY IRRELEVANT feature, just for the sake of wow factor that effectively reduces the quality of the experience.

Seems CCP really cannot understand simple things.

If this type of idea was reallly good, then the Office help talking clip would still be all over us nowadays.

The uncontrolled camera movement is a game breaker for me.
The effects are ok, but moving my camera without my consent either during warp or during fights is unacceptable.

I am aware of what i am targeting. When i am focused on something else, there is absolutely NO NEED to move my camera to the ship i just targeted. I just started playing again, and now find EvE even more frustrating than before.

I would like an option to disable this camera movement.

The sudden change of orientation is not somethign you get used to. I know because every game somethign remotely like that is on, I must choose between "Closing my eyes".. or stop playign the game. I will literally vomit on my keyboard if I make a 30 jump travel in eve with eyes open.

That is NOT good costumer experience.

Doesn't keeping your starmap open negate the effect entirely?

And on top of everything else - after exiting station I'm getting black screens, with a few assorted in space items showing but totally not able to change my view orientation.

Confirming I had this problem last night as well. Had to dock/undock multiple times before anything besides the UI appeared on screen. I actually really like the new jump animation btw.

Heh yeah this is a pretty obvious solution. Simply fly with the starmap open and you'll be fine. To be honest who doesn't travel with the starmap open for long journeys anyway.

Well I don't but my computer can handle the warp window on multiple clients.

Well I don't but my computer can handle the warp window on multiple clients.

My computer can also handle the effect on multiple systems. But I prefer to fly with the starmap open as it reduces the fan noise, and also even if it didn't I prefer to have a graphical overview of exactly where I am in the eve universe. Also the starmap looks awesome.

But yes, I think the people complaining have to be in the minority. I don't want to see CCP wasting Dev time reversing this change which is now integrated into the system transition mechanic and so would be difficult to reverse. I really think this is a case of a new thing being introduced and some people take longer to adapt than others, but eventually everyone will get used to it. Just stick with it for a month or so and see how people who are feeling sickness will feel after. I reckon no one will even mention it in a month or so.

Dude this is Eve, most of the features of the game are turned off when I fight in a fleet fight. No lasers, no effects, no drones, no trails, no GPU effects, all graphics turned to low and the map zoomed out until all I can see are little boxes.

All so I can have 50+ FPS on 5+ clients simultaneously with 1-2k people on grid.

Even outside a fleet I dont use sound, I don't see a point to hearing space wind on multiple clients.

Most players have the CQ turned completely off

So ya, people disable things in this game, that's just how it is.
