CCP - You better be working late to sort this Royal mess out.

Launcher borked, direct \bin\eve.exe works OK.

Let's hope this isn't a prelude of the Odyssey upgrade....

Launcher starts a process then stops doing anything.

EVE exe file: Incompatible (protocol).

Repair tool: Five attempts at least made it open a window. Been looking at this for five minutes now with it showing "starting...".

Part of me wants to scream why CCP can't simply ******* test their crap before rolling it out. Then again, another part of me knows that you can't possibly test any complex application in truly realistic circumstances.

So what do I think? Other than "Crap this ain't working" I don't know.

After repeated attempts unable to get the new launcher to work. It seems a large number of customers are also having issues getting into a game they pay for to play.

I'm not a rocket scientist but can't you just roll back to the previous launcher that did work until you fix the issues with the new launcher?

UPDATE ON THE REPAIR TOOL:
It took me 12 tries but the repair tool finally connected to the CCP server without an error. I'm going to see if I can start the client after it finishes. Hope this helps keep trying to repair even though it fails.
The repair tool takes about 5 minutes for anything to happen btw so it'll be a long wait gents.

EDIT: Btw I had multiple repair tools open at once until I got one to work then I exited the rest of the failed ones.
That should speed along the process.

Yes to the first and no to the second.

For me both load instantly and i got the launcher updated and working properly. I had the problem in validating process of the patch/launcher because i updated it manually from the EVE/launcher/cache folder.

For those reporting that their settings have been deleted, this issue is simply solved by restarting the EVE Launcher. This happens due to the updater automatically starting the EVE Launcher after it has been updated, with incorrect path semantics.

Secondly for those getting the offline mode webpage from within the EVE Launcher, this is because the EVE Launcher is timing out when attempting to connect to our webservers. We're currently looking into why the webservers aren't responding in a timely fashion, and hope to have this resolved as soon as possible.

Thank you for your patience.

No go on anything tried; "Incompatible (protocol)" is the closest I get (running EXE from ../BIN folder linked elsewhere).

Available for PROFESSIONAL QA of product releases PRIOR to dumping it on your customers, CCP. Please contact me at this toon for rates and availability.

I did the following:

Run Repair Tool > Failed due to errors
Run Repair Tool Again > Does an "update", shuts off when complete
Run Repair Tool Again > Brings up Repair Tool Box and checks game integrity. Does the full repair finally.

Launch from the CCP/EVE/bin/EveFile.exe application. Works like a charm.

Not to repeat the previous posters and sound like an unoriginal ****, but nice QA.

Guys, I had the same issue. I was playing then relogged to switch toons and it did the update and Bam! Offline mode :(

Anyways, I used this work-around by going this route, my computer> local disk> program files (x86)> CCP> Eve> Bin> then run the Exefile.

Basically it by-passed the launcher and took me straight to the log-in screen. Which is damn lucky as I only had minutes with which to activate a plex on one of my toons :)

Hope this helps

Nope, because then the client starts and says: incompatible protocol, on my windows 7, 64bit OS.

That means it failed, keep running it until it actually runs. It's trying to connect to the service, which is intermittent at best.

I couldn't get those links to work at all..
The 2nd link I actually gave up on after waiting a few minutes for it to load or whatever it was supposed to do...

I hope someone is either rolling back this update or making a fix asap...

I really don't understand why BIG companies like CCP doesn't even bother to TEST THE DAMN UPDATE widely BEFORE they distribute it to our PC's, players who pay the price to play!

We're converted into "testers" when this happens ... that's sad, very sad.

Tested everything, nothing works! Shocked
