The launcher seems to be working correctly for me, but I would like to point out a minor display issue with the new process.

As of writing this this character has not been activated on Singularity so this has allowed me to see that the error messages returned for attempting to log in are not helpful if you do not have a 'valid' account.

When using the current launcher the client returns a message stating that the account does not have a current subscription (or something to that effect).

When using the new launcher/client the error message is instead something about not being able to connect to the server. (Although I will have to wait for account activation to ensure it's not something else on my end).

Resolving this issue will make it easier to resolve issues with trying to sign in.

Using "/server:Singularity" for the eve.exe file allowed launcher to connect correctly, but the client did not. Changing to ip address fixed issue.

Launcher crashes on execution, no play button and it connects to TQ, tried the old shortcut trick but it won't work. No logs or anything either.

Can you give some details on your setup (OS, install path, etc). If it crashes on execution how is it you know there's no play button and that it's connecting to TQ? What is the old shortcut trick you refer to?

Installed sisi on E:\ drive, eve is on C which is an SSD.

I should clarify that the launcher works, i see it connecting to TQ but with no play button, so i try to close it down and it freezes up and I have to terminate the process.

Could you take a screenshot so that I can understand what it is you're seeing?

It seems to work now for some reason. Reinstalled the test client and used the IP andress to singularity in the shortcut instead of the server name, that did the trick.

What happened was that the launcher looked like the old one and kept trying to connect to TQ, listing online players and so on, except no play button. When i tried to close it it froze and i had to terminate the process.

Just an addendum to earlier post. It seems I get the error -7 randomly on starting the launcher, seems to be something timing out, the login window appears on about half the attempts to bring up the launcher. The buddy ad at the bottom also is failing randomly.

I cannot see anything wrong from the logs in itself, this might be something specific to Wine.

We've just pushed out another update for the launcher addressing some smaller issues:

  • Fixed an issue where self-updating would break the UI if it could not connect to the self-update path
  • Fixed an issue with Unicode that would cause the UI to break in languages other than English

We could not reproduce the /server:Singularity command line argument issue in-house, and from reviewing the code it looks like it should work just fine. If someone still has trouble connecting with that argument, please provide launcher and eve logs.

Thank you very much! While we still cannot reproduce this in-house I could see the problem from the eve logs.

Downloaded the new version 2.1.532936-beta.3 Tested under Lubuntu 12.04. 3.2.0-40-generic #64-Ubuntu SMP. Wine version 1.5.28. New wineprefix. winetricks corefonts vcrun2005 vcrun2008 vcrun2010,

(The version of launcher after installing looks like to be EVE_Online_Launcher-2.1.533100-beta.3.win32)

The installation went well, launcher started (old style, TQ info about ppl online, no play button). After closing I've got error message with a link to log file:

http://pastebin.com/YTVhyUzY

When I tried to run EVE first time after install with command:

wine explorer /desktop=eve,1920x1080 "D:\\EVE\\eve.exe" --args "/server:Singularity" "/log:debug"

Everything looked well. When I started it second time, the left down images were missing. When I tried it third time but with command:

wine explorer /desktop=eve,1920x1080 "D:\\EVE\\launcher\\launcher.exe" --args "/server:Singularity" "/log:debug"

I've got the same -7 url not found for the login and the left down images were missing too. And when I tried the first command again, same -7 error and no images.

debug.log (Its from the /EVE/ directory not the /EVE/launcher/ dir. In the launcher dir has no debug. log file for me.)

The debug log has some errors that might explain missing images and the -7 error. I think the error messages

[0510/210328:WARNING:backend_impl.cc(1660)] Messed up entry found.
[0510/210328:WARNING:backend_impl.cc(1946)] Destroying invalid entry.

Singularity - EVE-EVE-STABLE - 8.3.531040
Launcher - 2.1.533100-beta.3

The new launcher fails to properly log me into the game. Entering my username and password on the launcher itself seems to work well, however, the game fails at the 'connecting' stage and gives me the error:

Bad Address
Could not connect to the specified address. Odds are that you have not established an internet connection, the server isn't running, or the server address or port number was wrong.

Launching the game with the old launcher works correctly.

Awesome. Mine did the same thing after the launcher updated. I had to kill the process and restart it. I forgot to take a screenshot.

Your launcher should update itself soon with a fix for this issue. Annoyingly this update will once more lock up the launcher after it was applied (because it was still the broken code running), but future updates should then work without a problem.

This is due to a bug in the EVE client with the current SSO implementation. Instead of using /server:Singularity you should use the IP, e.g. /server:87.237.38.50 - I am updating this in my original post.

Interesting. I have no clue why there are messed up entries. It might also indicate that our launcher has an issue with SSL certificates under Wine. Can you visit secure websites using Chrome under Wine? Sadly I don't see anything we can do on this from our end, but please let us know if you find anything! :-)

Hmm...now the launcher won't update at all or check for verification. There's no golden loading bar at the bottom. I can input my username/password, but nothing else. I cannot even close the launcher without terminating the process. There is no log file.
