No, it's a very strictly accounted corp (see monthly updated PDF) that CCP may check any time, as their policy is very strict for this kind of charities. It's also famous enough that it'd be stupid to "launder money" or whatever, in fact CCP's CEO even showcased it at Fanfest 2011.

Finally, this is a video on Youtube proving every single ISK went into PLEX that got sent to CCP.

I'm curious - are ISK donations that are converted to PLEX that are given to CCP who then give cash to charitable organizations...

Tax deductible as charitable donations on schedule A of my 1040 tax form?

Techfree Investment Group Via iCandy Bond #5 would like to donate a Modest 10% of my Profit (After paying back investors & their interest payments) for the month. obviously at the conclusion of the bond.

Should be in order of ~100m, ( i Said Modest Oops ) a 'Tithing' if you will.

Why would anyone donate through you and risk that their money does not go to charity. When they can donate themselves?

Why would anyone start a savings account when they could just not spend the money? Why do people pay for an unlimited minutes plan when they could save $10/month if they used the 1100min plan because they never use more than 800/month?

There is a higher mental cost with keeping some spare change around and be ready to donate than it is to just let VV handle it.

1) Retirement. Some people may like to do something useful with their isk when they quit eve. This has been responsible for some of the donations to the fund.

2) Some people may not want to buy a whole plex when the plex for good thing next comes around (as a side note, it's been a while now; perhaps CCP is waiting for their own financial position to improve before they start charitable tax write-offs again).

3) The general benefits of a saving plan (as noted by Barakach).

4) Donating 'ahead of time' allows your donation to accrue additional earnings for the charitable endeavour before it gets spent. I believe my own donation has earned something like 5bil in interest for the fund since it was given.

5) There isn't much of a risk. a) CCP has said they will not tolerate the plex for good drives being used for scams because they have real world ramifications; b) VV has an excellent track record, including managing the donation of something like a hundred billion to the last drive; c) many people believe that VV is too stubbornly bloody-minded to even be capable of going against her word (whether this is a character flaw or a virtue is debatable).

On another note, hello to everyone and thanks for the kind words earlier in this thread. Sadly I'm not coming back to eve (yet) as work burdens don't allow it (another new job in another country starts in 6 months) but I do keep my eye on the MD forum every few weeks and will eventually come back if time ever permits. Couldn't resist wasting my 'hours for plex' on this particular question. Special hello to VV, Rykker, Grendell, Mme P (Vera?) and flakeys. And very sorry for not answering your email yet Rykker. I'm an *******. Got it at the start of my holiday when I had very patchy net access and I periodically remember I haven't replied and kick myself for it while not actually doing anything about it. Will do soon. o/
