"Even now, higher-ups still talk down on players,"

There's this paragraph in that interview, that struck me the wrong way, I mean, really upset me after reading about all this lay offs (inevitable I know) and all this 'we were wrong and were going to fix this' mentality then being struck with an insider interview tha still some of the decision makers in the CCP workforce are arrogant enough to believe they are the ones right, and all this is a bump on the road.

Dear CCP higher management, that arrogance was what put you in this situation, and led to the loss of subscribers therefore the lay off of 20% of your staff, that arrogance should be the one dismissed and laid off, I like to believe Hillmar doesn't know all happening inside, I do like to believe though he'll slap this higher-ups talking down on players, I hope he'll do it, or else this is just a cycle that will repeat itself in the future.

The whole paragraph:
Quote:

Earlier this month, CCP CEO Hilmar Veigar Pétursson apologised for the mistakes made when CCP ploughed ahead with risky plans that players, the CSM and even developers on the inside had raised concerns over. "Even now, higher-ups still talk down on players," the insider told me, "and say we have just hit a bump because some bad players refuse to see the awesomeness of our vision. We're told that it is not our fault." As a consequence of recent development plans not panning out as expected, EVE subscription levels have dropped, previously secure jobs have been distressingly lost, and morale among developers appears understandably low.

I hope you guys don't end up playing alone in the awesomeness of your vision.

It does me no good whatsoever if there are candle-lit shrines to me all around the CCP HQ whilst bugs are not fixed, issues are not resolved.

Similarly, I don't care if they call us disgusting little peasants amongst themselves, as long as they deliver on the development of EVE, knowing that the consequences of failure to do so will be that their company will fall apart.

Frankly I don't care what they have allegedly said or how they feel about us. CCP has to struggle with internal morale and external PR issues at the moment, so they'll say what each audience wants to hear and I can understand the need to do it. As a customer I mainly care about results at this point. This works against CCP in that I don't value vague promises and I'm sceptical towards excuses if they fail to deliver on what was promised. It works for CCP in that I don't care about what some nameless insider heard at a pep talk for the devs still employed. Either CCP starts delivering on some of their promises and make me a happy camper or they don't/can't and I'll GTFO.

Well this may be true for someone you know personally, I don't see how his tone in any way sounds other than what it is - the way he annuciates his words.

Pleasse reconsider your unsubbing.

Aah yes, the convenient "insider" that is forever anonymous and always truthful in all matters!

Source critique ... it is not optional when navigating the interwebs .. if you do not conduct them with religious fervour then please do the world a favour and yank your network cables.

But ...
Is that evil equally anonymous executive wrong in his assessment that mainly the Emo's are to blame for having limited imagination?
Personally I'd say yes, but its close to 50/50 split on the blame front so a tough call. CCP dropped the ball badly when they threw all that weight behind something that only a handful of their customers could see as part of Eve/identified with .. ie. a massive project management failure and the king of timing suck.

We'll still have Nex, streaking in stations, station brothels and what not .. it will just be after they have caught up on all the stuff they neglected when they put on the blinders

PS: If an anonymous source quoting an anonymous third party on anything is enough to "stroke you the wrong way" then you need to see a doctor ASAP and ask to be heavily medicated, you are a threat to yourself and everyone around you.

LOL. His tone actually sounded quite normal for a change; you know, like a regular human being having to come to grips with having made some bad decisions of late. If his 'tone' had been like that from the get-go, we wouldn't be in the mess we are now to begin with.

Also, his tone is always wrong: if he says the wrong thing people jump on him for, obviously, saying the wrong thing; and if he says the right thing people will hate him for just telling us what we want to hear. It's a no-win scenario. One of the inevitable burdens of upper management, I reckon.

Rather than listen to his tone, I choose to watch his deeds. And so far he appears to be steering the ship back on course. That's good enough for me. Naturally I'll be monitoring his eyes for NeX-induced dollar signs over the next few months, but the measure of a man are his deeds, not his tone.

The general principle is immediate dismissal but, given the small knowledge I have from Icelanders I have a small belief inside that the anonymous source in this case is correct (even it it's made up anonymous source) and I also believe how hard it was for Hillmar to post what he did in the other blog.

On the other hand, the typical 'dismiss everything' and/or 'everything is not what it seems' fanatic needs to see a doctor, the balance is the key, and history cannot be drawn (or should not) with 1 single event alone in mind.

By the way, since we're already talking, do you want to buy a rifter? I've got the cheapest rifters in Metropolis. If you can find a cheaper rifter, buy it!

So does his pants TBFU.
The first thing I admire or get turned off on... are someones pants.

Also:

The Dev's have egos just like the players do, so ofc they will blame everyone else (just like you do) We "could not see the awesomeness of their vision, and it is thus our fault" is typical of the gross and counterproductive Human ego.

indeed.

tbh if what the "source" said is true, then, well the upper management guys are wrong, and I'll tell you upper management guys why:
there are many people that see the vision you have (including some of the CSM I think?), and yes it's awesome. The "sci-fi universe sim" so much touted all these years is awesome, and I want it to bear fruit, as perhaps many people in this game.

you totally ****** up the delivery tho, by thinking we could wait :18 months: till we get any good content, which you didn't provide at all.

The development plans for the winter expansion have been deferred in favour of releasing small features like new ships and modules, and adding implants to killmails. "All prior release planning is basically in the trash," the insider told me, adding that "several people are getting carte blanche for teaming up on a feature basis, making little things with a measurable impact."

This part is MORE important then what the OP is complaining about.
Why?
Because it means they have been deliberately ignoring us, their game and wasting everyone's time. Now they are weathering the backlash of those decisions and trying to rectify it.
