Every two seconds, an area of asteroid field the size of Jita is lost due to belt stripping or destructive practices. Seventy two per cent of Caldari's intact asteroid landscapes and 55 per cent of the Null's have already been lost forever. Now the Gallante's belts face the same threat.

While the causes vary from region to region, they all have one thing in common: strip mining. Through orca stripping ,mob mining, multiboxing and crappy spawn, humankind is wiping out the asteroid belts - and the life that depends on them - at a terrifying pace.

What is being practiced now is unsustainable and will only harm the benefits of future generations(as in belt generations).
As the belts are stripped of their minerals , the upcoming spawn will be much smaller in quantity and much lower in quality.
Decreasing at 5% every time you strip a belt

For the sake of your own profit and the benefit of the whole of New Eden. Save the asteroid belts ,not just for your neighbors ,but also for yourself

Be in the know.

Good post, and something I think a lot of players overlook. Your average EVE denizen's thought process goes something like "hurr durr me mine belt, belt grow back eventually"; ignoring of course the tedious and manpower-consuming coding that goes into generating a new virtual resource.

EXACTLY!
and we must raise awareness about that issue if we were to survive the end of this century

No miner will heed or even read your warning; they have proven themselves to be AFK. CONCORD itself is complicit in the **** of our natural wildlands. Again and again, the high-sec miner has shown himself to be the absolute scum of New Eden, the very instrument of death that will rob our children of their legacy. Since we cannot count on the miners themselves to curb this abuse, we must take up arms against them. I call on all good capsuleers to destroy all mining vessels found within Empire space.

CCP has no sense of humour.

The first step to making change is to educate others.

Firstly, you need to understand the "root" element being discussed: Asteroids

Asteroids are located throughout New Eden in Asteroid Belts which are mined with various ships for various purposes. For those wishing to learn more about finding Asteriod types, feel free to click here.

The most important thing to understand here to continue the flow of New Eden is to understand how to mine. I'm certain that this information would provide all would-be miners with the needed tools and knowledgebase to be effective miners in New Eden.

Hopefully this provides some foundation for discussion as many here have expertise in this area and can provide a plethora of knowledge on the industrial aspects of the game. Enjoy :)

EDIT: Also, for those interested in taking your mining experience into a more interesting area, feel free to learn about this and this, which are part of EVE's exploration profession.

Sir, I will read the pamphlets on this matter and be a well informed consumer

Actually, this has already been worked into gravimetric sites in Anoikis.

Quote:
Although abundant supplies of fullerenes were the darling discovery of the new wormhole regions, the influx of access to more raw minerals was not something that went unnoticed either. For many years, experts had postulated that the current supply in known space was beginning to fall slightly behind demand. Fortunately for all parties involved, the discovery of vast ore deposits in these far-flung, unknown areas ensured that such an event would not happen in the foreseeable future.

You'll see that text pop up any time you warp to a gravimetric site in a wormhole. More rocks are out there, you just have to go looking for them. Big smile

If you don't do it for yourself, do it for the newbies. Won't you think of the newbies.

SIR!!
Its not just the wellbeing of ourselves we are looking at here !!
Legend has it ... LONG before our founding fathers built EvE , there was a distant planet called lurth ,it was a planet where geysers flowed through their lush fertile land.. A PROMISED land from the Gods , but their people betrayed the gods and were hence banished to here ,where a New Eden must be built from blood and sweat of countless generations.
.

WE ARE NOT going to let that happen again!!!

JOIN ME and you won't be just feasting on the riches of today but starving tomorrow...
The bounty of New Eden will be yours for eternity and more !!

Clearly you fail to understand the catastrophic effects of a ship in warp collidiing with an asteroid!!! Miners deserve the love and...yes... reverence of every capsuleer for their selfless devotion to the practice of clearing these dangerous hazards to navigation.

I've warped into one before.

It threw me out at a high velocity.

My wife was killed in a collision with an asteroid when she was in warp. Made a Wile E. Coyote hole in her ship P

And what about the planets? They will get mined out to nothing at the same rate.

Its a great example of the Tragedy of the commons. Although we all know the horrible harm we are bringing to New Eden we also know that the asteroid fields will be stripped bare.

So why leave others to profit from strip mining, when we ourselves can benefit?

The solution is clear. We require new rules, and direct Concord Intervention on behalf of our beautiful starscapes.

OF COURSE we recognise your contribution to the local safety ,but what we are asking for is an industry wide self regulation of mining activities.

Think of the planets!

The planets are mostly spared due to their immense size and general lack of activity on intraplanetary scale. Not to mention terraforming nanites which automatically kicks in when the planet's resources are depleted.
HOWEVER ,asteroid belts doesn't bear such luxury and its up to you and me to sustain growth in New Eden
