Why Did CCP Shelve the Original Gallente Colours? (IMO)

I was inspired by the fanart thread, with the sexy Hyperion MKII.

Seriously, the Orange/Black/Grey is the best colour scheme ever, was there a (Good) reason this was completely destroyed after Trinity? I mean, sure, Gallente ships have their ups and downs visually (Megathron is a sexy beast, Dominix............. not so much) but the colour scheme they have looks forboding, and menacing; not the aura you would expect from the righteous, democracy-loving Gallente. IMO, the Gallente colour schemes would work better with the Sansha or Guristas.

Yes, I'm complaining about this, but then again, I don't really care either way. I'm just a bit dissapointed CCP got rid of such a good scheme in favour of a sub-par one, and I would like if someday, they revisted it (Perhaps fleet issue ships?).

Unless everyone else hated it lol.

Orange > Blue

Steel with Orange > Steel with Blue

I suppose it won't matter when we're all flying ships with personalised skins against new nebulae backdrops!?

I have to agree that the old skins were better, I totally want my navy mega to either look like this

Orange

or this

Black and Grey

and the thought of a black and grey dominix almost requires me to change my pants.

Darker colors make more sense and orange is more of a happy, light color.

Gallente are a ridiculously liberal, free, democracy based government that banks entirely on the positive notion of individual liberty & freedom. Painting a ship orange isn't going to draw more attention to it in space.

because the art guys are on the bandwagon of "everything must look exactly the same". They won't be happy until there is only 1 color in EVE.

Silver/steel is fine, but I don't think it goes well with the other Gallente colours; it meshes well with Red, Orange & Light blue better.

Oh i was talking about the general theme of EvE,
where darker colors simply fit better.

And it doesn't have anything to do with drawing attention.

Orange is a positive color. Joy. Happiness.
It doesn't fit color-psychology-wise.

In a gothic story, contrasting gothic elements with more mundane elements makes the gothic elements more effective.

I agree with you.
I don't say that it wouldn't fit race-wise ... it's just game-wise.

On the other hand, with ship reskins and possible pink ships ... omfg ! *lol*

It'd get primaried even by miners ........... *lol*

Um... psychology-wise, orange is the most aggressive color on the palette. More than any other color (even reds,) orange goes straight into the brain and screams "attack!" The color palette EVE is living with now says "yaawwwn, take a nap."

There is a really lame argument floating around where people claim that green, because it has a shorter wavelength or something, is seen by the brain quicker, and is therefore the more aggressive color. But the time it takes us to recognize the color (the differences which are measured in nanoseconds) has absolutely nothing to do with the emotional responses a color gets.
