Um... psychology-wise, orange is the most aggressive color on the palette. More than any other color (even reds,) orange goes straight into the brain and screams "attack!" The color palette EVE is living with now says "yaawwwn, take a nap."

There is a really lame argument floating around where people claim that green, because it has a shorter wavelength or something, is seen by the brain quicker, and is therefore the more aggressive color. But the time it takes us to recognize the color (the differences which are measured in nanoseconds) has absolutely nothing to do with the emotional responses a color gets.

Now that's something new to me.
AFAIK red is far more aggressive than orange, maybe you can point me to a link about that ?

I know that green is the color that's best perceived (for obvious reasons, actually ... trees, grass, etc),
but that speed of perception has anything to do with emotions ... that's something new to me either ... and sounds bullshit.

Fake Edit:

Okay, after googling, it seems that in different parts of the world, colors are perceived differently, with different effects.

Interesting, i didn't know that.

All "Warm" colours are more irritating & provactive than cool colours.

The pie is a tautology

Fish, Tree Frogs, Snakes... Bees and WASPS!!!1
Can you guess which I get where I live?

Anyway: I did like the subdued maroon/red versions of Gallente ships. In fact, the NPC's seem to get all the good ones. Black is nice too.

The green argument is floated around as a suggestion that stoplights are the wrong colors. It's been a long time since I've researched it (it was back when I was deciding for a color theme for my Tau army) but the idea stuck in my head because the yellow of a traffic light, which is usually more orange than yellow, is the most aggressive color on it. Whether the relationship is causal or not is unexplained, and might matter for traffic lights, but for other uses it can be taken advantage of regardless.

And yes, I care about art. And yes, I'm of the strong opinion that the evolving art style of EVE, regardless of the technologies involved, has made the game visually more dull.

I think that the Roden Shipyards Megathron should be available. That blood red makes the Mega all the sexier.
