Let me give you guys a little more information on what is coming. Starting next week we will be producing a series of 'In Development' video blogs which will look at what the various teams are planning for Winter 2011. I want to stress that these videos will not contain release dates as we are aiming to provide a lot of stuff and do not want to commit to a date we cannot keep. These will include:

Engine trails - Yes, that's right we are adding engine trails to EVE and we will show the work in progress so far.

New ships - Recently we featured a shot of the Tornado, the Deviant Art contest winner, on the EVE Facebook page. We were not happy with just giving out one ship so we will be showcasing all four new ships.

New nebulae - These new background sin the EVE universe are stunningly beautiful and will add to the immersion and feeling of being in deep space.

Team BFF - This team should be Best Features Fullstop and CCP Soundwave will give an overview of what his team has in store. Capital ship balancing, balancing hybrids, assault ships bonuses and much more will be added during winter.

Customer Relations - The Lead GM's will talk about changes to how petitions are handled, more options for Stuck petitions and how we aim to deal with your issues as fast as possible.

We are not just going to stop there. We will bring you more video blogs about what is in development for EVE Online.

Dear god if anybody would have told me this 1 month ago I would have trolled him into oblivion.Shocked

I wanted to quote this post again as it seems I may have given you the impression that all of this stuff is coming now. That is not the case.

Some of these developments you will see in the next release and some of them are currently in the design phase. What we aim to do is show you what we are working on and what you can expect to see in the future. The Community team will be working with all departments within CCP to provide you with video blogs highlighting the work in progress.

soooooooo in game fixes of existing and long time bugs coming soon?
also Faction Warfare and other features that were introduced and abandoned...

There's isn't a lock capsy enough, or a caps locky enough, to make my BAW!!! large enough! How disappointing!

Oh well. We still have a lot of good stuff in the pipeline for this Winter and I'm looking forward to it. I'm very much looking forward to getting some screens of the other ship models, too. Khanid Paint Job, please?

Actually, a Khanid style ship for the Amarr would be epic. Torpedo slinging armor boat, here I come. Pretty please. : >

Please please let this include revaluation of the horrible ship tiering system. I want to see more then one viable t1 frigate per race, more then one viable battlecruiser per race, battleships that are sorted by role instead of what can fit on it (admittedly a couple already do this)... I can haz balanz plz?

I dont understand why EvE players are so messed up over *cosmetic features*.

Protip, unless nebula's add some new game play eliment, then this *expansion* has nothing in the way of substantial game play eliments. Adding new ships and rebalancing old stuff is *not* new features.

Giving us back things that we had 5 years ago is also not a new feature. Adding a cosmetic effect to space is not a new features.

I litterally think that CCP dont know what to do to give the game new game play systems. here is a tip, concentrate on the space we live in and how it effects our space flight. NOT giving us new ships. there is only so many spaceships you can put in the game.

Dont get me wrong, i will be happy to see engine trails back, all be happy to have a new ship to blow up. But what i really want is new gameplay systems. and ones that include everyone at that.

Make the nebula's do something. Or this is just "trinity" over a again. pretty but no features.

People like you have no idea what a MMORPG is - go play tetris or something. If graphics or cosmetic features didnt matter, then EVE should just be text based along with every other game, But its not, Why? Becasue people like looking at beautiful graphics and getting the most out of their elite custom computers. Immersion is a HUGE part of MMORPG. Is gameplay more important? Yea it is, but you cant have outdatted looking graphics either. In todays gaming world, you need a combination of both. Maybe you like playing ****** looking games, but I dont. Nebulas for the win.

What about blocky shadows, new and better textures (think they were anounced), warp tunel effect (still randomly missing one), better anti aliasing performance?

The blocky shadows are more likely from your videocard, or your graphics settings. AFAIK, the game engine only says 'send light here, and here, and make shadows here'. It has little control over how those shadows actually appear. If you haven't already, pick up a DX11-capable graphics card -- it makes a ton of difference in image quality.

The shadow textures are very low resolution, hence the blockyness.

Now if CCP would consider soft shadows the problem would go away, just that minor issue of space not having soft shadows in the first placedue to lack of objects for the light to bounce off. It would still look 100x better than the current solution though.

I agree with that. There is no place for soft shadows in space enviroment (maybe in places with lots of space dust) but crisp, highres shadows, would make significant difference.
Maybe an option for shadow resolution so everyone could decide what's best for their systems.

P.S. I don't see how DX11 hardware would make better image in DX9 game engine. I have ATI 4870 with DX10.1 support and everything runs at 60FPS with max AA except in complexes with space dust where it drops to 30-40FPS but that's driver issue I think. Turning of AA I get 60FPS trough entire game (CQ and in space).

Engine trails bringing them back maybe, but adding would suggest something new. Even if they're different, you're still just bringing back something that should've never been taken out in the first place.

But that being said.

YAY FOR TRAILS! Big smile

I sure hope the T3 Amarr BC will be one of the best of the T3 BC's, because the Legion was left choking in the dust. Tengu best for PVE, and the Proteus and the (hmmm I seem to have forgotten the name of the Minmatar one) are better for PVP than the Legion. I also hope for a good looking one as well, because the Tengu looked the best (in my opinion) with Legion after it.

Pleas figure out the difference between Tier 3 and Tech 3. The new BC's are tier 3 as in you need BC level 3 to fly them.

DX9 wasn't written to handle some of the newer rending and shading technology. When I upgraded to a DX11-capable card for EVE, I saw a noticeable increase in the texture detail and lighting on my Rifter.
