Definitely been a long term issue.

I think an inactive/offline tower should become un-anchored and available to everyone after it's been offline for a set amount of time. Any player, either in a player corp or NPC corp, should be able to pick up/remove it or destroy/salvage it. Only player corps should be able to reactivate/anchor it.

How about hacking offline towers to take ownership of them.

CCP creates tools.
This is EVE.

You use tools to solve problems.
CCP shouldn't have to use mechanics to do something a player could do with a tool.

There's this mysterious module: http://www.eveiverse.com/items/data_subverter_i , that fit the hacking purpose, no info
when it's being introduced or what the use are.
Or, create something like Lloyds open contract to salvage it.

I'd prefer the only loot that comes out of someone elses PoS was whatever was in it when it was abandoned.

I think if someone is willing to sit in space, at the PoS, for a good period of time with a suspect flag running in order to assume control of an abandoned PoS, then they deserve to have whatever was left there.

The PoS itself can then be disassembled and disposed of if it doesn't fit the need of the person that hacked it.

Also, if you can't sell PoS ownership, that should get added in.

I can see CCP actually implimenting PoS hacking when they do the revamp. I got the impression that the idea is to allow for a kind of personal housing type PoS module, where you would be able to store things. Hacking them to steal the contents would be akin to lock picking in other games.

High sec would probably require a war dec, oporational structures would call CONCORD, and abandoned can be hacked with a suspect flag.

Edit: PoCo hacking as well. Same kind of flagging system as PoS hacking.

We took down 6towers last month, was it boring yes, was it profitable hell yea, did we fought cfc hell no.Plenty of dead corps around so stop whining and being lazy and just use your brain before you wardec. Its easy to scout and estimate opposing forces simply read the info from their corp and locator agents. All is working as intended.

If a POS is offline and inactive - it should be conquerable. Bring the fuel, fire it up, supply the anchoring rights doc (from the LP store) - tada! You own it !

Kinda like squatter's rights. Real Estate laws in sunny CA are quite clear - you must maintain your property and pay the taxes. If you don't, and somebody else does - they takeover ownership via squatter's right. It's the same concept.

That way, if there is anything juicy in the storage bays - you keep it!

The typical 5-10 hour torching exercise is a serious dysincentive and none of the existing structures or stored goodies can be recycled.

This totally. Though the effort and cost to conquer the POS should be significantly greater than that of blowing it up and setting up a new one.
