I have deleted my Boot.ini file in honour of this moment...and the GF's boot.ini file on her lap top and her main computer.

Tomorrow I shall delete the boot.ini file at work...ok I might not manage that one...

I think 5 years is a good time to mark the occasion...as time goes on, it does become a fairly big troll by CCP.

Do you realise we have war memorials to remember the people whose lives we frittered away pursuing whatever goals were important at the time? We don't have war memorials to celebrate the glory of blowing the crap out of whoever was our enemy at the time.

Remembering the boot.ini incident in this way is just CCP reminding themselves that QA is important, with a bunch of folks in the office thinking, "well, it's okay to take risks today and stretch to reach my goals because nothing I do will be as massive a mess-up as that was."

People who wish to bury their mistakes are more likely to participate in revisionist history. I don't trust them.

Jokes aside, then 5 and 6 Dec 2012 mark the 5 year anniversary of the Trinity expansion and the boot.ini incident. It is in hindsight one of the more hilarious bugs in the gaming industry. I hope you have all recovered and forgive us. Smile
This is the most important question I will ever ask a dev on these forums - what kind of cake is that?

(I hope it's not a terrible one)
A layered chocolate cake with buttercream covered with fondant.

If the boots.ini are wearable cake shoes.....i'll get some

I think players who frequent the test servers have an idea of what we might be up to, but it will surface soon... Big smile

I wouldn't be so sure about that... look in-game market Special Edition assets section and apparel under it.. there's Boots.ini shoes now for women and if you click the 3D view you'll see funny text. Blink

Oh, by the way, there's also item called "Key Pass to Open the Door blueprint". Anyone know yet where you can find one of those? Lol All the other materials seem to be available on market except for "Villard wheel"...

Ah, the Villard wheel. Years ago the industry tutorial had you make a perpetual motion machine, and that was one of the needed materials. I think you had to run an invention cycle on the agent provided bpc to get a new bpc that did not need it.

Yeah, I still remember it clearly when I was looking at its installation process. I did see boot.ini and I immediately knew it wasn't good. :)

Even a few months before that, I saw the "boot.ini" in eve folder, and I was wondering why CCP put up a file name as the same as the windows one. I guess I shoulda voiced out to CCP back then. :s
