This is really the first part of a two part announcement, but we've found one of the missing boot.ini files and it was delicious: https://twitter.com/erlendur/status/276699221065875456 More later.

Jokes aside, then 5 and 6 Dec 2012 mark the 5 year anniversary of the Trinity expansion and the boot.ini incident. It is in hindsight one of the more hilarious bugs in the gaming industry. I hope you have all recovered and forgive us. Smile

This is the most important question I will ever ask a dev on these forums - what kind of cake is that?

(I hope it's not a terrible one)

A layered chocolate cake with buttercream covered with fondant.

So they said they had some extra time on this expansion so they used it to bake cakes? Well I guess your not the first company to make people pay for malware. I'm not sure I see the humor yet :) but someone has a flair for the kitchen so lets all celebrate anyhow. Or is it to early?

I'm assuming Part 2 will be a photo of various CCP employees with smashed cake crumbs and smears of fondant across their faces?

I didn't install the patch right away that day and as such, had great fun that day.

Happy Bootini day everyone!

The confection has been verified by potographic proof.

I've always wondered, how exactly was this problem fixed? Seems like it would require a second computer.

It's funny I'm just saying.

"Hey guys remember when we forced all those people to reformat their hard drives? Haha." isn't something I would want to assist in preserving in the collective memory of your subscriber base.
