Next up... CCP terminates Chribba's account.

How does this even make sense.

Because it seems like they continue to do stuff that pisses off the community, and Chribba is a rather popular public figure within the community from what I've heard. Not that I've ever had any interaction with him in- or out-of-game.

The unsub protest worked apparently. Hit em where it hurts wasn't it?

Now you're going to unsub in protest over these firings and a few more will get the axe.

Not over the layoffs themselves. But over the methodology of who and what was cut and laid off.

And why hilmar still has his job.

So, apparently a big majority of the 20% that got fired from CCP are the community devs.

Unfortunate for those losing their job, but on the other hand its not necessarily a bad thing for EVE.

I would rather CCP be putting resources into CSM, leaders we choose, than trying to pay people they choose to be our leaders.

Because 'community rep' is short for 'sales person'. If it aint selling...

Thats poor thinking from a now PROVEN bad CEO/management.

Yeah they fire the very vital people they need right now just for Public relations reasons.

I can understand cutting devs for WOD if they are dropping it to double down on EvE and Dust.

But the community guys were the people they needed in the days ahead.

This is insanity on their part as far as I wll say.

Hans you can attest that this is similar to some of my rants in corp chat that CCP was in major trouble and the writing was on the wall. Just from my own past experiences in game dev.

You'd love to believe that the punishment for the monoclegate fiasco might maybe (just maybe) be dispensing with the services of the NeX brainiacs that came close to screwing the game completely wouldn't you?

I will be so damned disappointed if those guys survive this while decent community reps do not.

That Alone concerns me.

They should have been first on the chopping block IMO.

Anti NeX Monoclegate protest cannot be considered any form of success until CCP recant that horrible corruption of the Eve sandbox. If the response to the glorious Jita protests is firing other devs while maintaining the NeX designers/pushers in corner offices then its simply another ludicrious misjudgement by CCP senior management.

Sadly the spiral will continue until this lesson is learned because there are an awful lot of annoyed long term Eve players who can afford to post on forums and spin their ships by selling off their space-stuff for plex without resubscribing until CCP pull head from ass and genuinely face up to the mistakes they have made.

I dont take any pleasure in hearing that someone will lose their job. I understand thats a degree of human empathy typically loathed by the EVE community but I think I can stand up to the flames.

All in all its a pretty sorry tale.

Do you wonder if CCP management plays Eve? And do you wonder if any of the 20% know the names of management's characters...?

And so the flames, despite being apparently turned to cinders, are thus, by the hand of the Cackling Demon, fanned again to Brilliance.

Burn CCP! ... Burn! ... such a sad day indeed. Perhaps they just fired the people that pointed out to them how WRONG THEY WERE and kept the ones praising the NEX fiasco as the next best thing.

So usual. Perhaps a new CEO is in order? or perhaps let this game die for once, truly die and be done with this charade. Also Dust over WoD, so wrong on so many levels, at least the twilight crowd would have filled that game to the brink. Ha! the irony is amusing.

Incarna , the Playbook of CCP, another good idea to come CCP? perhaps OS/2?

My god, CCP. You'd just managed to earn some of my trust back, and then this...

To make this clear, I am not objecting to the axing of jobs. Axing of jobs was quite likely an economic neccesity. What I am objecting to is the firing of core personnel who gained a deep understanding of EVE as a game, as a piece of software, and as a community from long periods of experience with all of the above.

Fallout and Zymurgist are only the beginning - what about Hammerhead, who was responsible for a huge amount of game development over the years and a much better idea of how we would respond to, ignore, and even abuse a game feature? What about CCP Valar, a database manager who knew what the hell was doing (in a time when the server seems to be falling dead from database issues every couple of weaks)? What about Maidensteel, who was just in the middle of collecting suggestions by the playerbase or new NeX products we'd actually like?

I think Hilmar finally realized that he is the CEO of a company.

Getting rid of unessesary people, like some parts of the EVE community team and closing this WOD Project for now is the best thing he did in years.

Finish your "PS3 Adventure" while hopefully giving EVE real Expansions again is the way to go.

You gained much trust back Hilmar don't blow it this time.
