All those types who claim EVE is about to hit the bucket are wrong.

I think...

1) Dust will bring in new players to EVE, increasing sub numbers and competition - a good thing. Dust also seems like it may not be as terrible as it could have been and may yet make some sales.

2) Still early times but the winter expansion looks good. The new bounty and crimewatch system looks great. Viable bounty hunters is something this game has needed since its creation. New destroyers have also been needed for a long time.

3) EVE has remained stable despite a tough few years. Things are on the up.

EVE has been dying since 2003, but subscriber numbers climb each year.

A growing number of subscribers is a clear indication of the death of an MMO.

That depends entirely on whether the unique player count is going up, or people are just getting more alts.

I wrote some true EVE stories! And no, they're not of the generic "my 0.0 alliance had lots of 0.0 fleets and took a lot of 0.0 space" sort. Check them out here:

1. No, it won't, Ive played Dust and its basically HALO with a bunch a crap added on
2. No, it's not good, it will increase grief-er war decs and boom, more new players quitting as *the offend a vet* who has an ego, god complex and gets a bounty on him.
3. No, it hasn't, the player base was always 50+k till around 2 years ago, no we are lucky if we break and maintain 30k

*snip*

1. Dust has already brought in new accounts with people who seem to believe they will organize their own orbital strikes. Also, "basically HALO with a bunch a[sic] crap added on" is ironically more of an argument in favor of Dust's success.
2. That is only a theory on only a portion of the expansion, and no one here has yet to see valid evidence that a significant amount of people quit over griefing. I personally know of two, but both of them rejoined after a season.
3. It's like you just reworded what OP said as a cynic, then claimed you were making a point.

EDIT: Sorry, just had to edit the quote - ISD Type40.

There's nothing worse than an EVE player, generally considered to be top of the food chain in the MMO world, that cannot smacktalk with wit and coherency.

I think perhaps you may have confused playerbase size with the peak concurrent user figures. The playerbase is currently around the 450 thousand mark, not 50 thousand. This graph is reasonably accurate with regards account numbers, though obviously it does not account for one person with multiple accounts. Hope that clears a few things up for you - ISD Type40.

Cheeky P I would still say that the average player does not have that many accounts. Most of the 2-300 players I know only have one account, though there are a dozen or so others that have up to 8. Large numbers of accounts are the exception still, and not the rule.

No it will nor. The average console players plays a new FPS for about 3 months, or until the new FPS comes out.(Call of Duty)
MOST of Dust players swill just be current Eve subscribers. Dust tying into Eve is a waste of time. There's plenty broken in Eve they coukd fix instead of trying to tie Dust into Eve.

I think that the amount of people with 2 accounts aren't that less numerous though.
