My 2 cents on Hulkageddon V

Intro:-
In a busy Minmatar system, a few days before Hulkageddon V...

Nooby Yo > Oh great Banks, i herd u liek grate Seer, so plis tell me mai future!
Banks > Very well. I see... an explosion. Like a supernova in the great Darknesss.
Nooby Yo > Wow! I keeled a goon?
Banks > Nope. Your ship exploded.
Nooby Yo > WHAAATT?? B.. but.. I dyed in blaise of glory, rite?
Banks > Again, no.
Nooby Yo > ...how I dyed?
Banks > A tragic mining accident.

Moral of the story:-
Tank your ship. Watch local. Check your six. Operate on principle of maximum paranoia. You can and should minimize the risk of a 'tragic mining accident', but even more than that - you should learn to accept the fact that bad stuff will happen anytime in Eve. And when it does, learn from it and emerge from the fiery crucible hardened by the experience... or emoragequit after contracting your stuff to me.

TL, DR:- You will die in Eve. It's just a question of "when".

P/S:- To Hulkageddon peeps, outstanding job so far and do your best in the final leg.

there was an interesting setup posted somewhere involving two hulks triple webbing each other while aligning

think out of the box and own

Too few miners evolve the mental acuity to research tactics such as those to ensure their survival.

Most examples I read about (here and on the Hulkageddon blog) suggest they are more like cattle, meekly grazing on the asteroid belts and being oblivious to their surroundings. Until they go "BOOM" and find themselves in their pod (or in a cloning vat somewhere).

Miners couldn't be bothered tanking , spamming dscan, constanly aligning, group webifying etc for a measly couple of million isk an hour, complete waste of time , we'll just see more of the same that we've seen up to now; plenty of players closing their accounts.

Sunday 20th May, Tranquility server graph peaked at about 42.9 thousand players.

When I started playing a couple of years back, 55 thousand on a sunday was Minimum.

Enjoy the empty Hi sec systems gankers Roll

...except that it's not going to be empty for long.

Less miners means a rise in mineral prices in the market. A rise in mineral prices will attract a generation of new miners to fill the market demand. A generation of new miners means targets for the gankers. And so on.

Cool, gankers will have reached their goal of tricking miners back into the game when Tritanium gets to 500 thousand isk a piece and then the miners will undock with their shiny Hulk which will cost 15 Billion and be oblivious to all danger, I'm sure miners will Fill every hi sec system and its gonna be sheer Heaven for all the gankers Roll

Okay, yeah, you're a troll. Bit too obvious with that one, you need to work on your subtlety.

That's pretty cute, I like that.

Actually, using even a single 60% web, then setting speed to 65% (ie: instawarp speed) would bring a Hulk down to... 34m/s. Staying within 2500m of your can (so a ~5000m traverse) means you only have to change direction every 140 seconds or so. Not to shabby at all.

That gives you plenty of scope for a decent tank too (Meta MSE, T2 Invuln, Meta Invuln should just squeak on), handy for when you have to swap direction.

I'm told that with mineral prices as they are, hi-sec belts yield in the 25-30m/hr range. Per Hulk.

For me, that seems like it's worth a bit of aligning.

We set up a little mining gang with the webbed barges a couple of years ago during Hulkageddon, along with a heavily tanked Orca, cloaked Blackbird and the hauler could swap out to a heavily shield tanked Myrm. We watched local, used d-scan, were in the HG channel amusing ourselves watching the carnage while we sat in the belt, but also keeping an eye out in case anyone mentioned systems close to us.

Testing the day or two before HG got started we were getting pretty quick warp times out of the barges, it's well worth trying out for a gang of mining boats.

WoW holds your hand until end game, and gives you a cookie whether you win or lose. EVE not only takes your cookie, but laughs at you for bringing one in the first place...

Im sorry , but I remain confused as to why you need to have your self webbed? Anyone with a brain can manually set there speed to 1m/s anyways so whats the point in the web? I must be missing something here, would anyone care to explain?

You don't warp until you reach top speed. A web reduces your top speed. Ergo...

FOREVER HULKAGEDDON!

Hey, if it's always Hulkageddon, the miners will stop complaining about the fact that they have to dock their ships up for a month. Honestly, Hulkageddon should require nothing more than the same caution you always use, but since many people are too lazy to keep checking local, they whine about the increased danger constantly.

And I mine, too.

Oh look at the smug gankers pretending they're doing pvp. Wow. Such studly pilots. Generous, too, giving advice to the masses about hardening up and all like that. There are soooooo many good people in this game.

Top speed is calculated when you initiate warp. You can see this in action if you use a webbing alt to get freighters into warp faster after jumping through a hi-sec gate.

1) Freighter is at a dead stop.
2) Freighter starts to warp towards next gate.
3) Webber alt throws 1-2 webs on freighter
4) Freighter near instantly warps off

The following sequence does not work:

1) Freighter is at a dead stop.
2) Webber alt throws 1-2 webs on freighter
3) Freighter starts to warp towards next gate
4) Freighter takes the normal amount of time to get up to speed and into warp (or at least, it's not instant)
