Well, "law" and "morality" aren't exactly the same thing. One attempts to uphold the other, but since moral values vary from person to person (heck, even the idea of "morality" means different things to different people), it is destined to fail at doing so. The difference is that you should probably not break the law too often or too obviously, whereas you can choose whatever you want as your set of moral values (and most likely be judged accordingly by society).

Of course, if laws and consequences were a simple matter, not open to discussion, interpretation and subjectivity in any way, shape or form, we probably wouldn't have need of such people as "lawyers". ultimately, what matters here is what CCP says and they aren't exactly cornered by the law into only having one choice for action (if any at all). This should have no bearing on whether people personally agree with such behavior, although it seems that some are prone into falling the "fallacy of the law" trap.

Well if the tweets are true then well done Mittens for taking responsibility and resigning for what was obviously a totally unacceptable breach of CSM conduct.

Hope this is something of a chastening lesson for the goon-followers on this thread.

If he sincerely apologizes and it's clear he realizes what he did was stupid and he accepts some kind of punishment (or even imposes one on himself), then I think it will be over and we should move on. It sounds like he realizes he went too far, which is surprising. I could actually find myself having a little bit of respect for him once it's over if he does it right.

But I still half expect the apology to be sarcastic and insincere. We'll see.

I have a sneaking suspicion that Mittens is trolling, as the latest tweets ("Oh, I made a boo-boo") are totally against his recent posts on the subject.

Of course, there's always the possibilty that the Twitter account or the game account isn't operated by the same person (or is accessible by more than one person), which would explain the disconnect.
