I don't think I'm going to enjoy the new EVE Forums.

I am currently away, traveling through time and will be returning last week.

The forums provide depth of expression, notoriety, and long term coherency to our characters.

Please allow the Eve forums to be a place where we can talk to each other and discuss things amongst ourselves in our own way.

Bullet points that would help toward that end:

-Everything stays on GD: it would be nice if there were a voting system to classify threads and a subsequent way to sort history by that system. But no more editing by placement.

-Up and Down voting for posts. Didn't we used to have down voting? It is a wonderful tool for skimming through multiple page threads and picking out the high points.

-The way posts always appear in chronological order here is perfect, please keep that.

-I love the default font, layout, and lack of pictures; it is clear and easy to read. Please don't change that.

-Would love to see people forced to post with their main.

-I would like to see forum moderation done by paid professionals who do not play Eve.

To all members of the ISD, thank you for your time and efforts.

Kindest regards,

CFM

That is, you will have one character account, with no forums, and one forum account, with no characters linked to it.

What is the point of such change? Isn't it better to have one account to rule them all?

To kill RP on forums.

CCP realized that the first place people go when considering joining a new game is it's official forums.

These forums use to be a hell hole. Anyone who would bring up an opinion or idea outside of the collective norm would be ostracized relentlessly.

Now they're boring because once a conversation kicks off that's generating a lot of interest, trigger happy ISD's who define their self-worth by imposing their CCP given abilities do so with wreckless abandon.

There's no middle ground.

It almost feels like the forums are moderated with a quota system, whichever ISD deletes the most posts gets a bonus or something.

It's hard to balance though. Let a bunch of self-proclaimed geniuses dominate every conversation with their cabalistic back handed insults for the sake of generating lulz and "tears, or have a nice clean but bland presentation for prospective new players?

I dunno. Its not my paycheck on the line.

The ISDs have closed too many good threads when nobody's feelings were getting hurt or anything. That's why GD is shrinking away

I tried out that Discourse software, I don't like it. Its scary, confusing and difficult to read/browse, although I'll admit that may just be because I'm getting old. It IS clunky, however, with all those superfluous animations and doohickeys, and if they can't be turned off I'll be forced to block them at browser-level, if that's even possible.

Also, Erotica 1 did nothing wrong. o/

Why would I contribute content for free while running the risk to be banned from the service I pay for by doing that? In what universe does that even make sense? Big smile

The idea will be to promote more open and direct (but civil) discussion, and give the community a more relaxed place to talk about spaceships P

We'll have more information in the near future <3

It makes sense when you break rules of that service.
In what universe does that not make sense?

Paying for it does not make you exempt from or above the rules.

A thread being closed is not a ban, nor is the content (except those which violate rules) removed.
Yes, unfortunately, other people can deliberately drive your thread into the ground.
If you have a solution to that, lets hear it.

If CCP is bound and determined to go ahead with the Discourse platform (despite reservations by the CSM) they've obviously established a business case and made some investment. I don't think I'm going to like the new EVE Forums as much. Maybe I will - heck, I'm willing to give it a try at least. Mainly so I can say "Told you it was going to suck."

If they would look like Valkyrie forums, it will be downgrade. At least give us BIG avatars, not those peephole sized round ones.

Colors should be like here. And like button should be like here, and option to quote and edit should be available, make it look like these forums basically.

And allow creating alts for RP, on the same account.

And EVE mail should be available like here.

If any thing from the list above wil be gone, CCP will only confirm more strongly they dont care about the playerbase that were here from beginning. Removing EVE wiki was just a first step. With this they may do the last one.

Thanks for the comments, it's nice to know there's still a sizeable amount of people who care about the health of the forums, for sure.

We're actually in the middle of testing an entirely new forum system with the assistance of our Volunteer team, and we'll more than likely be looking to roll it out somewhere toward the summer Smile

The rollout of these forums is going to include a complete rewrite of the forum rules (relaxing quite a few of them), re-organizing our forum categories and the introduction of a new mandate for ISD in terms of how moderation is carried out, as well as a few other things that the community team will be blogging about in the not too distant future (more than likely soon after Fanfest, which happens in April).

The idea will be to promote more open and direct (but civil) discussion, and give the community a more relaxed place to talk about spaceships P

We'll have more information in the near future <3

Meanwhile on /r/eve:
20 concurrent trash threads filled with almost identical one-word/line trash posts about TEST cane fleet lost in a WH.

Wow. Such content.
So player moderated.
Much better.

Sorry, discussing moderation is not allowed, remember? But you are correct, I agreed with the terms and conditions so I consented to being policed. My own solution is simple: do not give the authorities something to police. My solution is to not post. This week has been somewhat of an exception ^^

They could have relaxed rules many times. They dont need new forums for that.

I think they want to make this forum like Reddit. Because they like it more.
