Excellent, great to read all the comments, i find the diversion from mining to maybe belt ratting or joining an incursion fleet most refreshing. If someone is fixated on mining, why not fit up a battleship and keep going? Probably not many points in hulkageddon for a battleship. Probably won't result in a lot of resource gathering, either. Keep the hulkageddons coming I think it is a great idea.

Are participants supposed to attack the Goons they see mining in nullsec too? I just want to know because if I blow up a Goon in a Hulk, then the Goons pay insurance, do I get points for the forthcoming Goonscam 2012TM event?

No Rifters are a blast to fly, you just need at least 10 to take down a Hulk.

I try to be nice and mind my business just shooting lasers at rocks. There is just way too many asshats in New Eden for that to happen.

Assuming for the sake of argument that your allegation is true, I see no reason why prospective participants would not elect to shoot down these hypothetical, GoonWaffe-affiliated mining ships that you describe. There has so far been no correspondence even suggesting that GoonWaffe or her allies would be exempt from the event, and there have in fact been public announcements from our coalition leadership to the effect that anyone caught mining will be shot on sight (without regard to this upcoming event).

The definition of "Goon" in the mind of anyone making an argument against us is very broad; in fact, there are much fewer Goons play EVE Online than most people seem to believe, and this in spite of the fact that I frequently try to correct these misconceptions.

Seems like it is just what the game was designed for, massive user co-operation. It makes mining a seasonal activity, like farming. January thru March is winter for the miner. Time to do research or play the market or go into production. The players are shaping the game as much as the game is shaping the players, and that is a good thing.
