they just dont realize what EVE at its core is, its the most rewarding game out there, you can't have that kind of reward for doing nothing! If you like doing nothing and get nothing in return play something different.

Bottom line is this - the large number of fast-travel devices we have in-game makes it ridiculously easy to travel across EVE in a matter of minutes. It makes no sense as to why I can travel from Syndicate to Curse in minutes, locations on opposite ends of the game universe.

By nerfing power projection, you substantially increase the cost of maintaining coalitions the likes of which we see today. Increased difficulty with logistics, substantial movement of heavy assets, etc. should encourage nullsec alliances to focus more on their home region(s), instead of adventuring around the cluster looking for any cap fight to drop a ton of supercaps onto.

I realize that some of these changes might not stand the test of feedback to Phoebe (med clone pushback being the strongest from the looks of it), but I encourage the devs to keep pushing for these changes. A healthy nullsec is one vibrant with large numbers of alliances and coalitions, rather than one big blue donut. Even if you lose some subs in the process, as happened during past changes (like the Nano Nerf), keeping the game healthy is more important than catering to fickle subscribers.

I'm a logistics pilot. The "challenge" of making the game 10 times more tedious with no increase in fun factor is not one I care to take on. HTFU in this situation means standing up to the people turning the game to crap.

People play games to escape boredom, not engorge themselves with it. Not that I expect a person incapable of spelling "weak" to understand this.

As long as you nerf incursion income into the ground, make level 4 missions ALL burner and remove concord protection from anyone who has been afk for more than 15 minutes then yes you can have your "make null alliances stronger" changes.

On the clone change -

What happens when you are stuck in null due to campers/etc and just keep getting sent back to the same (presumably hostile) station? Without being able to change your clone to anything but the current station you would be very screwed.

Maybe a once - per - Month emergency death clone to a home station in empire would be a nice workaround.

Likely one can always use the NPC stations that are normally always available, and only the corporate HQ will be limited.

As it stands, I believe this plan, while interesting is going to kill off T2 production in EVE, especially nullsec. There is no possible way to move large quantities of moongoo easily anymore.

It's going to have a significant impact, to be sure, and that's something we need to keep an eye on. At the same time, though, people built T2 ships and modules before jump freighters existed, so we're somewhat skeptical of the argument that that T2 construction is impossible without JFs.

really? really???
do i need to remind you that before JFs existed you where able to move 60k-90k m3 of stuff with a dread or carrier?
do i need to remind you that when you first introduced the damn jfs, no one was really using them? that you guys had to do a number of nerfs on carriers and dreads so that ppl will finally start using jfs in large numbers?

and now you are telling us this crap? where you even working at ccp when that change happent?

This post is golden, as it's showing that Greyscale, as an EVE developer, does not know that before Jump Freighters existed, other jump capable ships were used to haul valuable goods around. (As stated, dreads with large cargoholds and carriers with industrials filled with cargo in their fleet hangers)

This man is attempting to lead a poorly thought change, which so far, has met widespread backlash from players living in all regions of EVE. He is acting to change a very fundamental mechanic of how the EVE universe functions and players interact with each other.

What can go wrong? P

I suppose whoever oversees the team led by Greyscale has never heard of Star Wars Galaxies, and how it was doomed to failure by a bunch of developers very similar to the image Greyscale carries on him.

At least SOE had other games that they continued generate revenue for them when developers without a clue doomed Star Wars Galaxies. CCP does not.

Reasonable change that would actually accomplish goals....10 minute static jump cd and 10 ly range on carriers.

Unreasonable change....making it so that it is impossble to move fit ships anywhere.

Put crap up for contracts, and buy it again elsewhere? Not that hard. You have not tried moving an entire corp yourself out of wormholes, no caps, no jump drive, and your 20 other members already bailed on you. Thats hell. Adapt or die. Or better yet, instead of unsubbing as a knee jerk reaction, why don;t you post WHY you think it sucks and how to improve in the idea. The idea is coming but you and other can tweek it to make less shocking.

Here are my proposed suggestions on how to better improve this idea while still maintaining the intended purpose of nerfing power projection.

1) Back away from BLOPs... leave it as is. If you are going to apply the nerfs, then compensate by making them real T2 ships with proper resists.

2) Leave JFs alone... Logistics is already a pain.

3) Instead of a flat 5LY nerf, cut the range of Capital ships in half.
-- Carrier = 7.3125LY
-- Dread = 5.625LY
-- Rorqual = 5.625LY
-- Super = 5.625LY
-- Titan = 3.9375LY

4) Introduce varying degrees of 'Jump Fatigue'
-- Intra-Constellation: 25% of Jump Fatigue
-- Intra-Region: 50% of Jump Fatigue
-- Extra-Region: 100% of Jump Fatigue

A few notes about this:
This allows logistics and blops to occur as they currently do, both are completely reasonable in their current forms.
The titan is nerfed even more than CCP suggested to counter a little bit more jump range on the individual ships. This is a great way to further nerf power projection.
By varying Jump Fatigue, you also help to "designate" jump gate usage. Since people will look to travel within a constellation or region and then use gates to move between them. This adds new opportunities to the game since regional gates are seldom camped and they will be the riskiest to jump through using caps because of how far apart you can decloak after you jump.

In my mind, this goes quite a ways to balance power projection without sinking the smaller groups and solo pilots that want to use their caps.

I think a lot of people commenting here about how great these changes are and how they can now move into nullsec and claim a stake for themselves because the big alliances will be busy looking after their core systems.

Sure, you might me able to lay claim to a system. Good luck keeping it without being able to supply yourselves properly.

I rarely comment on these forums especially patch ones. There are many bad changes CCP has brought in recently.

But this is just awful. From some1 who has lived the mining life in highsec, the pvp life in both low and null, this is truly bad and doesn't achieve anything other than an attempt to draw more money out of people's wallets.

We used to have 40-60k people log on 2 years ago. Now we are lucky to get half of that.

These changes, I firmly believe, will kill off more people. As other's have mentioned you are making Eve more tedious. I cannot see player retention going up after this change.

You are not stopping the big entities from deploying anywhere as they have the isk and power to easily place massive capital fleets all around space. All you are doing is making it even harder for the smaller groups trying to achieve something bigger.

Truly fail CCP. I won't threaten to quit Eve just yet but I'm also certainly not feeling good about what's coming.

Without reading 120 pages of thread, and having read the blog, will there be skill adjustments for JDC / JDO? Because there's no way on earth that the current training times for those skills equate to the benefit that they give, and from where I'm sitting, I might as well just abandon that account that the hauler is training up on.

Absolutely terrible.

Because people of smaller entities will be more willing to commit more expensive assets without the fear of getting mega blobbed by you.

Thus providing more content for both parties, you just will have to rethink your "I win" button strategy.
