This is why we're recruiting people from every spectrum. While I feel that WiS should be equal in attention alongside FiS, there are those that would disagree with me.

Perhaps FiS having a grace period of attention before getting to what "avatar enthusiats" want. Or maybe, just concentrating on one part of "space."

I have my opinions, I defend them. But it's time more than just a large alliance voted for people.

I seriously want to know how many people truly believe that EVE is a game that should focus on playing dress-up in a station.

It has never been that, it will never be that. I don't see an avatar taking sov. I don't see an avatar running a mission. I don't see an avatar shooting at a spaceship. That has never been the focus of eveonline, and it can never be allowed to become the focus.

Somehow this game has survived for 8 years with only spaceships, I fail to see how equal focus should be payed to eye candy.

I have been keeping away from eve for the best part of the year and all the news that came with it. It's sad to see the way it is going right now after catching up with all the controversies in the last six months (even a riot? Pirate). Paying stupid amounts of real life money for a monocle is just stupid and after all it's virtual which saddens me more due to the fact that people buy these gimmicks because it looks cool.

But i also think that the players who have been around for maybe 4-5 years or more (including myself) are struggling to adapt to how the marketing strategy of MMO's are run these days. You notice that most MMO's that come out are free to play with tokens etc etc, even WoW is doing it..... this is the future of eve?

I hope not but it could well be and we are being ignored as this process is being slowly introduced into a game that, has built it's own culture and character through the player base. As much we hate a certain person for being on the CSM they need our support right now and they better be right with what they are doing or it will fall into a further spiral. And if they do get it wrong.......

You see, this is the problem with a few people. You see innovation, social interaction and a new aspect as something that you would write off as "barbies." While others do the same thing by calling EVE nothing more than a Spaceship game.

It's insulting, really. I mean, what about the people that spent hours customizing the "vanilla" avatars? Surely, you wouldn't classify them as barbie players.

By demanding EVE stays the same, you are only shortening its life-span. I'm pretty sure this is something most people don't want.

CCP has been constantly adding and tweaking the spaceship pew-pew aspect almost every expansion.

I don't get why everybody should complain about this. :p

Except that a major part of every expansion has been fixes for the previous expansions bugs that they never patched. Now I'm not sure if its because they're lazy or incompetent, but at the moment it seems that EVE dev is severly under resourced.

Its a bit hard to not realise the CSM vote is happening. CCP plug it on login, and a lot of people say to go out and vote, the people who don't vote are most likely too lazy / don't care about it.

I'd be interested in knowing, though, how many people actually pay attention to login adverts.

I'm asking for emphasis to be put on the root of the game, what attracted all of us players to EVE. We can for SPACE combat, and a SPACE game. I see far too many people/companies/games alienate their core playerbase/voterbase/whathaveyou by moving away from the principles that made them popular in the first place.

It's like Blizzard going: Ok, we have this super-cool new feature that allows you to blast a rocket off into space and look at Azeroth from the sky. We're now going to make this the focus of our development for an entire expansion cycle, **** it up, release no new raids, battlegrounds, instances, or levels, and literally only have eye candy. SEE GUYS! SEE! WE INNOVATED AND DID SOMETHING NEW! THAT'S GOOD RIGHT! Too bad your entire playerbase just quit because there's been no new relevant content for 2 years.

I'm going to avoid pyramid quoting here...

You're saying that there's been no relevant "space" content for 2 years, but I happen to remember a little thing called Incursions and from the looks of it, plenty of people are still utilizing this feature.

On top of that, this is more than a "rocket into space," this is a whole new level being added to the game and with the complexity involved I am not surprised that a year's worth of expansions is being used to fully introduce it.

So, for 7-8 years CCP has been developing on the "core" game and the second they bring in a new aspect, that they've been talking about since day 1, you're in an uproar over it?

Me too, I pay attention to them because they only show up once, theres probably a better way of doing it, just no ones thought of it yet. The part I really don't like about the CSM vote is when theres the follow the leader type of canditates that Alliances put up, but thats just me.

I think you would find the majority of "capsuleers" would have no problem with both Incarna, and the nex store, had CCP actually continued to develop the FiS aspect of the game, and not use the few resources Eve actually has to introduce the Aurum system which has only 1 purpose, to make quick money. Why do you think we are still waiting on the other CQ? The only reason Gallente CQ was pushed out so fast was because of the next store.

The blizzard analogy was just that: an analogy. Don't read too far into it.

This is nothing at all more than a wow player being able to orbit around azeroth from space. We can sit in a station and talk to people. BUT WAIT! We can't even do that yet! That will take another year to roll out! We can sit in a station by ourselves! FUCKYEA.

Focus on the **** you know how to do CCP. Blizz wouldn't develop a sandbox MMO. You won't develop a theme park MMO.

You develop spaceships. You have made a really ******* good spaceship game. Don't turn it into something it isn't.

This is a valid point, which is why I believe it would be fair to say that both aspects of the game we all play should have equal attention. I mean, I've been waiting for Incarna for a long time. The main reason I argue is because I would hate to see CCP take 2 steps back. I don't think that falling backwards is what needs to be done.

Maybe a reallocation of resources, I don't know though, I'm not over their in CCP HQ. I'm not a developer. I am simply a subscriber to a service that I enjoy.

Most are demanding the opposite, that some actual work gets done on changing, expanding, and refining Eve. I have no problems developing WiS, but not if it's just going to be a MT shopping mall, which is pretty much where I see this going. If that's where it goes I'd rather not have it at all.

That said, FiS is EvE, always has been, always will be, and that's where the vast majority of the attention needs to be placed.

And now you see the real problem.

People arguing with each other because resources are spread so thin.

All we all want is to continue for Eve to be a great game. The problem is for alot of people, Incarna is the next step in their "great game". For others, like me, we see it to be a bane, mainly because it takes away resources from "our great game" the FiS aspect.

This is why everyone needs to band together, whether you are pro incarna or against it, because what we are really talking about here is Dev resources towards Eve in the future.

Whether you like Incarna or not is not the issue here. They've re-released sleepers and created one room in the time it took them to release all of wormhole space. This isn't just neglect for flying in space, this is neglect for the capabilities that Incarna offers.

Yes incursions was a little thing. Sleeper UI applied in known space. One little thing in 2 years.

And it wasn't a "second" that they have been devoting the lions share of their devs to dress up. It is going on years. Dress up is just not worth that. Sure 6 months and an incarna expansion. Great no problem.

But now we are going on 2 years and all the other parts of eve that ccp openly acknowledges needs fixing have been put on hold. Devs still aren't giving us any idea when they will start working on eve again other than to say they probably will never do a big expansion like apocrypha again. This is why anyone who can read gets the idea that eve is being abandoned.

And yeah if you spent *hours* dressing up your vanilla character you *were* playing barbie. Incarna has no combat. It is just *walking* in a station. No sane person thinks that will make for great gameplay.

The problem as I see it...CCP bit of more than they can chew. They are trying to do three things at once. Who cares if they have separate teams for each project. EVE should be their number one project no matter what else they may have on the table. They promised us CQ's and WiS by August of this year. Well it is now Sept and now we're told that the rest of the CQ's will get released sometime this Winter™ with the rest following soon™ after. How are we suppose to believe them when they haven't been truthful with us regarding Incarna.

Also if all Incarna is going to be is a jump board for more MT - then I hope they never finish it and I hope EVE, WoD and Dust 514 crush and burn horribly. Incarna should not be about MT...it should be about expanding the potential game play of an all ready great MMO by giving us alternate alternatives to flying spaceships 24/7.

EVE should have and needs the human factor. What EVE does not need is to be neglected and turned into nothing more than a badly implemented space sim with an MT store attached to it.

Ponies!  We need more ponies!

So tell me what it is you want from Incarna? Beside strut around in a room with a door.

CCP has thrown out a few concept ideas on where they want to go with Incarna, which all sound awesome in theory. But when it comes to CCP's ability to deliver, well, whatever new feature they just released falls flat on its face and stays there until someone at CCP happens to look at a already huge backlog of things they should really fix - years ago.

As much as you would hate CCP to take two steps back, I hate that CCP is so utterly convinced that new features sell better than polished features and content that I would rather see CCP take two steps back than three forward.

What do I want out of Incarna? Establishments, bars, minigames (poker), maybe a place where listeners of EVE Radio can actually meet up in person.

Although the first iteration is only a room with a clothing store, you do realize that there is more coming, right? I see people make this statement, "Oh well, Incarna is a just a room bla bla bla!"

It's part 1 of an "ongoing" expansion.

A little lacking on the feature side? Yes, absolutely. Totally cool anyway? Yes!

+1

IMO, even FiS folks would have been "happy" with Tyrannis and Incarna if they had been released as fully fleshed out expansions instead of as the "meh, we can't be bothered" symbols of half-arse-edness that they epitomized in succession.

Damn, now I have that song running through my head.
