Downtime doesn't remove ships from space or reset aggro timers, but node remapping does? Look, EVE PvE has never been a strength, the only thing that remotely matches server mechanics during fights in importance is the economy, and you **** it up this bad?

Why does this function differently than downtime? Why is it possible to "accidentally" do this without a warning that you're doing it to an extremely full system? Why the hell are you trying to excuse saving hundreds of billions of isk, if not over a trillion, with an "oops"?

There's a reason that critical functions are normally engineered with multiple checks and failsafes, because human error always DOES exist, which is why it's completely ******* inexcusable that CCP has nothing in place to mitigate that possibility here. "We'll make sure this won't happen again" isn't sufficient, fix how it was even possible to begin with, and fix it on multiple levels.

I don't like empty quotes.

listen a critical system was removed from the node. this was not like downtime... ccp ****** up and did something that removed again a CRITICAL SYSTEM... its assumed this system is CRITICAL... so use your brain and think what really happened.

The thing is, this isn't the first time it's happened. It's been less than 3 weeks ago CCP did another "Oops".

Let's see about that Goon dreadfleet we had tackled when the same thing happened just a couple weeks ago.

The point is that it shouldn't be possible, regardless. Human error should be considered here and that's the point of the questioning. Not the actual mechanics behind a server going offline and it dropping it's information.

The combat aspects of this game should persist through critical failure or go to backup.

It's how any competent IT infrastructure is designed. What happened today would be kin to Google losing e-mails to an entire country and having a response of "Oops".

This is the level CCP is trying to compete on, a professional one where we give them our money to entertain us.

Today that broke down. The sandbox did not work and CCP's infrastructure failed miserably with a response that it's human error.

No mater what side you're rooting for, if you're rooting for one, this is unacceptable.

ITT Nulli member groups player induced espionage/diplomacy using legitimate game mechanics and CCP induced server failure into the category of "meta".

We are painfully aware of this and believe me: it hurts to see such epic battles, which are not found anywhere else in the whole gaming industry, being cut off like this.

We want to give you the servers, tools and environment to create and enjoy such epic moments to its fullest extend, that is what our dream and passion is about - destroying such battles just to influence the course of the in-game actions, however, is not what we do.

But that was the effect here. And quite huge influence it was. Sure it would not change the outcome of the war in a single battle but it will help test.

Worst thing is all the hours everyone lost here.

CCP you just ****** one of the largets fleet battels in eve history... THANKS!

In the attempt to improve the overall fight quality and node stability in the Z9PP system at 22:41 UTC by moving away all non-critical services from this node, our engineers unfortuntely made a mistake and actually moved the critical system from the current server node instead of moving all other systems. As result every pilot in this system lost connection to the node and therefore to Tranquility.

The system Z9PP is online and accessible again now.

It is extremely unfortunate to make such a mistake and we apologize deeply for disrupting one of the truly epic battles in the history of EVE; especially since this battle already raged on for several hours and was still heating up for more! We are very sorry about this incident and will make sure that such mistakes won't happen again.

so you guys were doing your job and over 6 hours still managed to keep the server going and made a human error due to fatigue...

i think people should be thanking ccp that they kept it up for that long...

heck i remember back in 06 a 400 man fight was unheard of. let alone 2100+

I remember over 1000+ fights in 04, so you I do not know where you got your information from.

Clearly in the new MODERN eve, 2100 is too many for the upgraded system from 9 years later.

problem is as your tech gets better they will blob more and more in system. its a war that can never be won.

i remember after dominion you could not do more then 1200 in system with out the server crashing...

now you can do 2100 plus

if you made it stable under 4000 they would try to cram in 5000 and complain about it.

You mean it's not what you would like to do? Because we all know it's what you just did?

Your hopes and dreams are all nice and dandy, but stop accidentally crashing a node after over 6 hours of constant fighting is just not a way to run a game.

You know what else doesn't happen in the whole gaming industry? Engineers accidentally stopping the biggest fight in their game's history.

I guess its time to create a AI that automatically does this sort of stuff with no human interaction...

Take your pick. There have been like 4 that have been saved by node crashes.

In spite of all the idiots sperging on this thread, I have one honest question: Why weren't the tackled capital ships still there when we logged back in?

They were in warp disruption bubbles with agro timers. According to everything I know about logoff mechanics, they should not have moved anywhere, regardless of server crashes, characters log offs, or any amount of tinfoil.

I'm willing to accept that it was a simple mistake and there was no foul play, but only if you can give us a solid explanation for why the carriers disappeared from the field, in contradiction to well-established logoff mechanics.

Please explain CCP.

GRIEV3R does have a point...and the live feed had wrecks and drones still there aswell so there shouldnt be any exception for the bubbles and the Cap ships still inside of it

We'll trade them for the metric ****-ton of CFC dreads we've had tackled when a node crashed and the pilots refused to log back in.

Don't mind the Goons, they were about to extract and this is part of their metagaming strategy (it's how they win wars).
