So as everyone has been rather harsh with your efforts to make our gaming experience the best it can be, I'll leave some words of encouragement!

AWESOME ******* JOB CCP!!!! Roll

So my state of the art is as follows.

The launcher gives me the following output.

Launcher wrote:
OFFLINE MODE
You are seeing this because no connection could be made to the content server or something went wrong while loading the online content.

Restart Launcher

Tranquility server: Status unknown

Running the repair tool, it idles in the background for a couple of minutes and then pops a chubby that says:

Repair Tool wrote:
Errors occurred

See the logfile 'c:\Users\Username\AppData\Local\Temp\tmpdir\repair.exe.log' for details

But for whatever ******* reason, your programmer deemed it wise to delete the ******* temp files as soon as you click the OK button, basically, making you run the ******* thing again! Awesome work again!

After running it again and accessing the log file, it has the following.

Repair Tool Error Log wrote:
Traceback (most recent call last):
File "repair.py", line 303, in module
File "updateSelf.pyc", line 85, in UpdateSelf_nt
File "updateSelf.pyc", line 15, in ReadUpdateInfo
File "repairTool\repairTools.pyc", line 231, in GetRepairInfo
File "repairTool\repairTools.pyc", line 143, in SafeUrlOpen
urllib2.URLError: urlopen error timed out: 'http://client.eveonline.com/patches/repair_info.txt'

It must be a ******* odyssey to actually test **** before doing a release!

AWESOME ******* JOB!

Also, while talking about AWESOME ******* JOBS, when you hit the PREVIEW button on the forums, because I copied the logs, and those include the "larger/smaller" signs, it basically pops another chubby, telling me the post may contain HTML and proceeds to tell me to **** off by erasing all I had written! Again, ******* precious!

If I ever did such a **** tard release at my job, I'd be fired on the spot ... and it would only affect about 4000 people that are using the app.... you just took a giant crap on 100k+ clients and .... AWESOME ******* JOB!

Err nope, repair doesn't work. Sits in task list doing nothing...

Obviously connectivity issue, then.

  • Klicked on the repair.exe -> waited about 5min to run

but after doing this go to the "bin" Folder and right click on the "ExeFile" and start it as admin! This sorted it out!

temporary solution, but this works

I thought as much. It was stuck at 50% for ages today that I had to fix it by runnning repair manually.

CCP's launcher is a lot less robust vs the WoT launcher is all I can say - from the user perspective.
Try shutting down the CCP launcher while it was stuck at 50%, it took several long seconds before you get any responses.

Edit: Dear CCP Atropos. Robustness is everything. Always, always, always aim for robustness.
I've been saying this for years ever since your auto updater came out.

How can you tell when the repair tool is running and when it is finished? I click it and it doesn't seem to do much, but then when I click again it says it is running and cant open two instances of the repair program.

If you open the Task Manager, assuming you are using Windows, you should be able to see 'repair.exe 32' in the list.

The only time CCP seems to listen is when their players threaten the EVE wallet so maybe it's time to do that again cause we are apparently not getting the attention this issue needs...

WE DON'T NEED A LAUNCHER!!!

I guess I'll have to reinstall. The rapid tool won't even do anything. Literally. I run it and nothing comes up. It just seems to hang as I can see it in my task manager. It does nothing at all. I have sat for as long as 10 minutes just waiting and nothing. I've tried it over 10 times now, and nothing.

I can't get the came to start from the bin launcher as I just get the incompatible message.

I've tried running as admin, I've tried just about everything. The fact that we even have to go through all these work arounds is kind of silly but none of them are working for me anyways. Very frustrating.

Be patient, everyone and their mother is running this tool all at the same time.

took mine 22 minutes to launch...

Game now works!

1) Locate the folder where you installed EVE. If you are not sure where that folder is, see http://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/EVE_default_directories
2) From the EVE installation folder, open the folder called “bin” and there you will find the ExeFile.exe
3) Run this ExeFile.exe to start the EVE Online client

it works...

  • then it telling you that it fails hard and ccp suck

  • but you are a bro and you klick on the rapiar.exe in your eve folder

  • you klick on it and nothing will happen - but after 5-10min later the repair.exe starts

  • now you are happy but it "Starting..." and doing nothing for about 10-20min...(havn't stoped time)

  • you think it works now until it telling you that it failing to download!

  • but you are going to the "Bin" Folder and open up the "ExeFile" and it might work!

After trying the repair tool around 7 times or so it finally seems to be doing something..... none of these other workarounds from players worked for me at all.

repair completes and it says:

"No connection could be made to the content server. Please make sure that your Internet connection is up and restart the Launcher."

Clicking "start eve" instead of "ok" worked for me after the repair.

CCP, please delete the wiki that says to delete the ini file... that "fix" broke my client further and I had to replace it from the trash bin.

There's a very noticeable drop in players showing on the eve-offline, and I'm certainly one of them.
