if this is an optional DL that comes with a disclaimer of the sort of "if my pc explodes after i install this, its my own damn fault for trying to run it on 10 year old hardware" then yeah, im in.

I completely support this and wish for it to be made available as soon as possible. It would be a great addition to fill the void until the devs add dx11 to the game

I've been after CCP about high rez textures since 2003!!!!!!!!!!

Back in the day I even reskinned the ships to higher resolutions.... then CCP made it against the EULA.

Hell yes. We used to have the choice beetween high res/ low res client , and it was a good idea.
