inverse logic:
make the new station hangar default and say that WiS is degrading for capsule pilots in a fun way. But add a little advantage for being out of your pod... like using the market/station services with slightly less tax/costs or so (quick fix). Doing illegal face2face business in station (long term).

how to fix eve: 1) remove ECM 2) rename dampeners to ECM 3) add new anti-drone ewar for caldari 4) give offgrid boosters ongrid combat value

Bump for being EPIC good news!

Nice to hear it straight from Torfi.

Generally, I like the current setup. But for the sake of those who are financially unable to buy a computer strong enough to handle it, I decided to change my mind and go back to the old ship-spinning hangar with the option to "exit from pod" so to speak.

or those that think the whole thing reeks of "quick money making", and "alpha testing for other games", or just who purely miss the functionality of the hanger.

This thread is making me feel great. Please CCP, for the love of EVE, make people bust their asses and deliver these promises ON TIME (not in 2013+). This will be the beginning of a great turn around for EVE if you just PULL IT OFF.

In retrospect, it shouldn't have been a surprise, we were simply too stubborn I guess. We wanted to up the bar on fidelity, as we have always done over the years, but it came at a cost. However, it should be noted recent gaming graphics cards run this fine. I was running four clients in CQ the other day on my machine with a Nvidia GTX 570 at around 25 fps. However, we do support very old machines and they have an issue with rendering the CQ. Some lower-end laptops as well ( sometimes referred to as craptops ), that have very trimmed down chips that support the same features as desktop cards, but lack a lot of the parallelism and bandwidth that higher end laptop cards and desktop cards have.

prior to CQ 6 clients flitting about doing stuff was never an issue, in fact it was so low use i opened 2 more accounts about 2-3 weeks before incarna was rolled out.
now with CQ on my gpu struggles with 3 or 4, especially if im docking and undocking a lot. even with it off there is either a memory leak or memory useage issue which will bump 1-2 clients up to 0.9 gb ram useage with the rest between 0.6 and 0.8 gb used. prior to incarna clients were 0.5-0.6gb max useage.
i dont have a super computer but its not that much of an old junker to warrent an upgrade just to play eve(gpu will be shortly). i hope, i really do hope this issue will also be addressed with the roll out of the new old hanger as it does effect my and other people i know game play.

There are many pendings things for the next expansion or expansions:

New nebulae.
Make Incarna useful, corporation meeting rooms, bars, shops, black market.
Racial CQs.
New ship spinning hangar.
New ship skins (This has been announced years ago).
New NeoCom for EvE, this was announced on 16th december, 2010.
And the new changes/revamp for null sec.

The implementation of most of these features on the next winter expansion would be great for the future of eve.

Well everyone does make mistakes and being able to admit them and put things right is really all anybody sensible can expect. Thank you for that. With regard to recent graphics cards thought he issue isn't so much with frame rate as with GPU intensive card thrashing. I too can run 4 clients in CQ and get 25+ frames per sec in each. But I wouldn't want too for any length of time because the card is running superhot at maximum utilization and the fan sounds like a hovercraft. And unfortunately its still extremely inefficient with just 1 CQ even with the graphics taken down. I honestly believe there is a big graphics resource bug/design problem with your CQ engine. Other modern 3d games can use my GTX 580 card and not make it run at 75% usage in a single instance while doing and awful lot more.

So I don't think this is really about older machines particularly and I think it would be a mistake to focus on that. The engine needs to be made considerably more efficient and trim resource wise on even modern computers before its truly ready for prime time.

Sure. Losing the UI functionality was pretty bad, but it's being resolved.

Great news, and to be honest there are some win/win angles for you bringing back this old hanger view concept as well. I really liked what you did with Incursion alert status in the old hanger view - seeing as you are now replicating this functionity with the carbon framework I'd hope you can go on to refine it and add even more functionality that will be a fitting payoff for everyone's patience!

For-example - Let Alliance/corp leaders customize some warning klaxon's in people's hanger view for their members logging in while there are wartargets in system or maybe have some maximum alert status visions when ops are planned. That kind of additional immersive feature is just what we need to keep people interested and involved in the game.

It's good to see that some within CCP are listening from the player base and i think they got the message loud and clear thru our actions since incarna got released, but as someone who's been playing non stop since 2003, i take a show me first aproach since i've seen a great many features talked about by devs with a lot of enthusiasm, even at fanfests, and they never made it into the game....One such example goes back now 5 years ago.

Below comes a very large picture of the recently released hyperion( this is 2006 keep in mind), that had aliance logos on it(lotka volterra in this case), and we've never seen anything since then unfortunately(scrolling to see the logos on the bow and stern of the ship is mandatory).

CSM Statement after emergency summit wrote:

Torfi announced that the current "Disabled Incarna Door" will be replaced with an environment that will provide similar functionality and performance to the pre-Incarna Hangar, and this environment will be available until Incarna performance is similar to pre-Incarna performance. While the final details and timelines have not been worked out, ships will once again spin all over New Eden.

1. The statement after the emergency summit indicated the return of the hangar would be temporary, and would be once again be removed when Incarna perfomance was improved. Is this still the plan or is it going to be returned permanently?

2. I understand that you can't give any specifics about the timing of this much awaited feature, but perhaps you'd know if it's likely to be released as a patch or not until a full expansion?

3. Any info on the method of switching between Hangar/Incarna? ie do you dock to hangar then de-pod to incarna? Incarna first with option to spin? Only via the ESC menu?

Good questions, these may have been answered somewhere - there's so many blue posts to read Big smile but any chance of a response?

I still don't quite know what to make of this.... 0.0 is suffering economically, alliance activity is stagnating in areas, supercaps are killing fun pretty much everywhere, age old POS updates and basic ship balance updates that are long overdue...

....but it appears that in the end, the *alleged* return of ship spinning is already having people declare that " EvE iz saved!! " :-P

I'm still struggling a bit ....months of protest, and THIS is what the pitchfork mobs are finally satiated by??

I must have been mistaken....I was informed that the theme of the Eve Online Tea Party Express was....."MAWR FiS"...and yet here it is that "Spinning in Stations" finally brings the first wave of tears of joy and relief.

Everyone wants a different aspect of FiS improved, but you can't underestimate the annoyance of double clicking the door - yet again - because you forgot that dosen't open cargo anymore. And don't even start me on undocking in the wrong ship because you forgot which one you logged off in and didn't bother checking. The lack of a session change timer on ship change is awesome though, big thx to CCP.
