Same issue here, im even unable to run launcher.
I tried to install http://cdn1.eveonline.com/EveOnlineLauncher/launcherUpdaters/updater_tq_1312.exe , but apparently it fails.
When i use launcher_console i have something like this :

C:\Program Files (x86)\CCP\EVE\launcher>launcher_console.exe
20:41:20: Debug: src/helpers.cpp(140): 'CreateActCtx' failed with error 0x000000

for some reason my computer is blocking the launcher as i saw a prompt that says something like "patch.win.exe' is on your list of blocked programs, yet i have placed every eve program in the exception list. Could the file have been placed somewhere else or is maybe the microsoft service pack 2 is causing a problem? Anyone have any advice? i already reinstalled the Eve client...

I have exhausted all possibilities. I am now uninstalling and reinstalling the game completely.

My opinion of your technical support has been really lessened. Let's just say I will not be recommending this game to my friends.

FYI -- computer products 101 -- make the product as easy as possible for users to utilize or they simply won't use it, which inevitably leads to a loss of business/revenue/and profit.

God help you if a more efficient and technically-sound developer ever comes up with a competing sandbox-style MMO.

And I'm not someone who normally complains. Check my posting history.

the launcher connects to CCP, 30k over pilots normally its over 42k ...

so there are over 25% subbers out there affected

or you just podded all 25% of subbers?

repair does it job, but it doesnt fix evefile.exe, this direct run evefile.exe doesnt work anymore

update the launcher yes it makes the launcher complete but the launcher does not patch the client completely

what repair does to the client is a diff image from what launcher patching does to it ... hello CCP any1 listening ?

ok solved

it is still using the same re-run repair till it fixes approach. it seems in my case, i had to upgrade ATI drivers and direct-X.

never used any launcher, launcher seems to be unfixing the program ...

I have already resigned to the fate of having to reinstall the game every time a new patch or hot fix comes out.
I am sure they know the problem exist (this thread is evidence of it, with them having to post manual updates every time a patch comes out).
I just wager they just do not know how to fix it yet.

For the last 3-4 months every patch has involved running repair.exe many many times, until I found out that the online server status page provided patches that worked.

But now CCP have altered that so it doesn't link to patches and I'm back to running repair multiple times.

Ever since the new launcher was introduced patching Eve has become a continual nightmare that puts me off ever bothering with the game.

Do CCP care, no they don't... especially when you see them cutting off the only workaround that was available.

Alternative patching method has arrived.
April 26, 2012: Updated links to client version 365966

The alternative patching method has finally completed and passed testing, it is as follows.

Instructions, Windows:
1. Download and open the zip file
2. Copy the .patch file into the EVE Online client folder, usually that would be C:\Program Files\CCP\EVE
3. Run the launcher and it'll do the rest for you automatically.

Here are the Windows patch files.

ARE YOU F'''''N!!! KIDDING ´? i have read through 16 pages of bulls.. nothing works you're goddamn launcher keep telling me to re-launch, and some repair file THAT DOESN'T EXIST has to be terminated before that works!

I've downloaded the patch, but as I mentioned on the previous page, my launcher spits out an exception and quits before it gets to a point where it sees and applies the patch file.

CCP: Earlier in the week, you provided patches in the form of .exe files which worked brilliantly (at least for me). What is preventing you from doing that again?

Derpy question ....

1) Can we get a 3 strikes condition in the repair tool?
2) Will there be / is there a swap command / checkbox to download this automagically?
3) Can we re-visit peer assisted patching?
4) I would like to see the launcher to be run as a windows service, so that say, patching can be done in the background, or persistent connection to Vivox. Would this be hard to do?

I find the launcher and patching experience extremely poor, I have not been able to play the game for several days now.

Every time you patch the game it takes days to navigate the issues with the patcher and launcher failures.

From the customer experience perspective this is very negative.

In my view the previous method of patching was less of an issue from a customer perspective.

Other games have launchers and patching methods that do not have these continual issues and this I find very poor on your part to introduce something as unstable as this and not resolve the issues quickly.

I have downloaded the most recent 4.4GB full version of the game twice in the past 2 days , it obviously is not the full latest version as it immediately tries to patch as soon as you run it and then the patch fails and it is rendered unusable.

Repair does not return the game to a working state no matter how many times you try it.

I will try further today but I shall cease to subscribe to your game if I cannot resolve it today as I am spenidng more time patching and navigating patcher technical issues than actually playing at the moment so I'll spend my limited leisure time on something fun instead.

Your fix on the first page does not work as I have done as it states and the patcher still fails in exactly the same place every time it just crashes out with no error messages.

Basically this is terrible customer service as I am paying for something I cannot use.

If it can help devs about what happens and player which are in trouble, the trouble i got and how it was solved :

launched the launcher, got the blue bar showing launcher update then nothing : tried to run again launcher but nothing, this one start and go down in like 2 or 3 seconds without nothing showing at screen.

Thought my launcher was ****** and then ran repair tool : i got a ~230 mega patch which was installed by repair tool. Then again tried to launch launcher and like before nothing happened : exactly same trouble.

Spoke to some mate which said to me, to try use ccp/eve/bin/exefile.exe instead ccp/eve/eve.exe to launch the game : and that worked like a charm launcher run fine, game was patched (prolly by repair tool). So now i'll always use ccp/eve/bin/exefile.exe to run the game.

I'm under Win 7 64bit.

My 2 cents.

Take a deep breath and take the matter into your own hands. Uninstall, go to the download page, and reinstall the client. Some time later the problem is fixed.
There you go. One satisfied customer.

Note: You can be really lucky to experience this issue on several machines you're playing.
