The CSM published by CCP

Excerpt from page 20 of the linked CCP document-

CSM REPRESENTATIVE CONDUCT

any behavior or actions considered being a material breach of the eula or tos
by a Csm representative is grounds for immediate dismissal and permanent
exclusion from all pending and future participation in the council. There are no
exceptions, regardless of the infraction. representatives are not only expected to
uphold the social contract that all society members are held accountable to, but
should also set a behavior standard for everyone else to follow.
____

This sounds pretty clear cut to me. Unless we don't play by these rules anymore?

"immediate dismissal and permanent exclusion"

Policies are created to insure all players are treated fairly and equally. We can't
begin making exceptions to one without eliminating the rule altogether.

What kind of publicity will EVE receive if he or any future player does commit
suicide? The media will look back on this incident and see how the company
handeled it which could open them up for future liability.

Any player regardless of alliance affiliation needs to understand the gravity of
this situation outside of the context of Eve.

This is a situation that could end Eve.

Man, that sure would be relevant if he'd actually breached either of those documents!

Somebody sends death threat to Hilmar from their home address with a dead frog inside the envelope then they are going to get banned despite the fact RL doesn't have a specific TOS / EULA. This is why the whole "fanfest isn't covered by the same rules" argument the goons have been making is completely bogus.

My opinion is should such a case go in court, the CCP would have hard time explaining how sending death threats outside EVE constitutes a breach of contract.

If someone sent a death threat to Bill Gates, does this invalidate his Windows or Office licenses?

I wonder how many players have been banned from eve online during the games history.
I wonder how many times they have been successfully sued for breach of contract.

Its taking this long most likely cause CCP has to have their legal beagles going over all sorts of stuff.

I'm still suprised that CCP has nothing to say after 2 days of all this...

Does the Fanfest have an EULA or TOS ?

Do you think somebody would get away with keeping their eve accounts if they surged up on stage and punched hillmar on the nose?

They would.

so i do not see anything wrong with a perma BAN on this player

Have to agree with this. Had an audience member brought up the topic and the panel joined in then that is spontaneous especially with alcohol involved. Preparing a slide in a presentation to set the stage for those antics, drunk or not, is premeditation. Depending on who prepared the slide presentation, someone other than Mittens, then that is conspiracy.

Whether there are laws in Iceland which specifically address this situation, and I doubt it, from a PR perspective CCP would be wise to act on the side of caution. Then again if Mittens is booted they'll lose tens of thousands of accounts. If Mittens isn't booted, you know which concerns they considered paramount.

honestly Mittenz should step down as chairman but remain in the CSM...

10 k people did vote for him so he should remain but has also lost the privilige of being chairman... Personally this is a good compromise.

so its like, someone commits a crime, the criminal gets to walk because 10000 who likes his "wayward behavior" says he has not done wrong ... (wrong to the tune of suggesting a depressed whining player actually go have his suicide) LOL ! ...

what about the rest of the population who was not in the 10000 ? i am very sure they are not NPC related

i am also quite curious ... of those 10k who did voted ... how many are in disgust of his presentation about "the wis". i am very sure not all 10k+ people are standing together with him on that incident

Be carefull of wat you wish, that 10k might turn 20k as well.

i am very sure eve is not just made up of just these ... pilots ...

so a probable BAN on 1 single player wun hurt goons that much

^^^ This, It was on tape and pre meditated. Mittens intended to harass that player publicly or it would not have been in his presentation that was surely made days earlier. There really is not much to investigate here . CCP is just hoping it will all go away.

So my earlier suggestion. Everyone on the panel, every CCP employee, everyone in the audience who laughed should have action taken against them as well. Can't single out 1 person like that. Everyone is equally culpable. I saw CCP employees laughing, I saw the panel laughing, I saw/heard audience members laughing. Why aren't we going after those hate mongers too? No 1 person is liable for this, all or nothing. Mittens said it, no-one stopped him. Many joined in his mocking laughter. We have to immediately ban half of EVE except the white knights now, otherwise I will not be satisfied!!

in fact ... his presentation is mostly just to demean other players he has harrassed in game ... and it went into a bigger stage of harrassment at fanfest ... AMPLIFIED with video, audio, slides, audience, etc ! now how did it come to this stage that CCP set a stage for a player to do this?

cmon CCP, are you really going to let him off?

Yeah after showing my dad the vid and the actions of the goons on these threads the last few days Im in full on Ban the mittani territory.

The trolls that are still on going by the goons tell me that just him stepping down is not going to send the right message.

Full on ban time.

I think most people notice how Mitten's half assed apology is fake and he feels no remorse. It is obvious he is trying to save face, which didn't work, which makes him look like an even bigger douche now.

i am very sure it is easy to re-register as another new player to play eve. heck he might even do power of 2 ! LOL

but that is not important

what is important, CCP needs to tell players the right message, you do not tell people to go to their deaths at a fanfest ...
