Its the issue of a world cyber and otherwise unfettered by any code of moral decency where this action is applauded as some sort of standard of behavior In a meritocratic game like EVE you stand to benefit from the misfortune of others. This is a core property of the game and one in which I find uniquely appealing and all to rare in modern society. In order to truly win someone has to lose. Just becuase I drive home from the bar drunk and manage to not kill anyone doesn't mean what I did was somehow less wrong becuase nobody got hurt The apology was a good start, but like The Mittani even mentioned actions are in fact greater than words. What I want to see is what he intends to do next. In my mind he brought attention to a serious issue in a flippant, arrogant, and insensitive way. I'd like to see him make amends for that. A simple I'm sorry and a little ISK is not action as far as I'm concerned Furthermore, even though I did not vote for the guy I do respect what he and the rest of CMS6 achieved for the betterment of the game. Its a shame that this had to happen and that its likely his influence within CCP has been voided by a few words. CCP has to and will protect its interests in this matter. To be frank some of the blame falls on CCP for having a Panel Session in which grand arrogant gestures are encouraged and the speakers are provided alcohol. It was only a matter of time before someone said something stupid. That by no means absolves The Mittani, but the set up did him no favors. When you appeal to the lowest common denominator that is likely what you will get.

this is the portion i think makes sense too --->To be frank some of the blame falls on CCP for having a Panel Session in which grand arrogant gestures are encouraged and the speakers are provided alcohol. It was only a matter of time before someone said something stupid.

CCP did create a sandbox to allow some gamers bask in this scenario of being a jerk and get away with it, he obviously took it too far. he always takes it to that range doesnt he? and his followers do not bat an eyelid over any virtual crimes or wadeva its called, nope its not a crime, its part of the game feature... right ... so now it starts happening in real life?

and i say again, lifetime ban for him.

You may think that, many others might think that, but every site which is reporting on the story are reporting it as Cyber Bullying and that is what matters.

Do you not know the difference between cyber bullying and griefing? This is clearly griefing. Cyber bullying is repeatedly going after this guy again and again constantly. Bringing up an old story during a presentation and making fun of the conversation once and not constantly harassing this guy is not cyber bullying. How does this differ from any number of the greifing and smack talking that goes on in the game, on the forums, on third party websites, evenews24, kugu etc. etc.? Its every pvp players given right to smack talk and give crap to people who are stupid and explode to make a huge deal out of losing internet spaceships and pixels. Every alliance and corp is guilty of it and everyone has done it. Nobody makes light of the people walking up to the mic when Mittens is sober and trying to do a CSM panel and gets bombarded with players not asking questions and only wanting to say he is a douchebag and he sucks etc.! Why isnt that cyberbullying? Why doesnt that get shamed on? Oh yeah... its because nobody cares and its all in good fun and its part of the game and the experience in being in a perpetually changing world of pvp fun and hilarity.

The part where he "repeatedly went after the guy" was when he ordered thousands of Goonies to harass him. I have no idea how even a Goon could be shameless enough to ignore the fact telling thousands of your fellow scum to attack someone is harassment.....

Wow, you guys really are shameless.

Underhanded politics indeed

How much laughing will he be doing when he is turned down for a job in the real world because of this? I am not saying he will be by the way.

In the current world with so much internet usage companies hiring people into responsible positions, and even universities on high demand courses, are no longer just investigating the back ground of people through the old ways, criminal record checks, credit checks references etc. They are now also searching the web for the prospective employees social networking sites, youtube channels and what ever these link to. They then use this to help them make a decisions to employ someone.

People have been turned down for jobs because they have posted pics of themselves at a night out were they are rat arsed beyond belief and mooning their friends who take the picture, this includes pics on linked friends profiles if it is not on theirs if they are the one in the pics. This is a tad more serious than that and so may have more long reaching effects than either he or his friends might think.

In this day and age you have to think carefully before posting anything like this or doing it infront of a camera drunk or not.

Some universeties are now even thinking of or have brought in rules that behaviour off the campus is still actionable by them even during the holidays. Such behaviour could therefore in theory also result in someone being thrown off the course they are on.

Just because people are posting with NPC corp characters does not make them alts, nor their opinions worthless, just like you they have the right to express their opinion, you have the right to ignore it, but trying to belittle them is more telling about you as a person than it is about them.

I imagine Mittens called them off when he because scared about losing his CSM position.

So, by your own admission no goon actually fulfilled this 'cyber bullying attack', which logically means that the attack never really took place. Or are we going by Minority Report standards?

Also, I don't suppose you happen to have proof that I'm a goon do you, or is this just another error on your part?

The presentation and his BIG BAD THREAT was on Friday, and none of this really blew up until Sunday/Monday. That's 2 or 3 days of solid harassment this ARMY OF GOONIES!!! would have gotten in before he came to his senses. Yet, when he (The Wis) was contacted about this on Monday afternoon, he had no idea that anything had even happened. That must have been some serious harassment!

Of course, it's that or Mittens made a godawful joke that nobody listening took seriously until some publord who fell asleep halfway through reading a Cliff's Notes of The Prince decided to use this to get Mittens removed from either the CSM or from the game entirely.

That's just silly though because GOONIES

Wow, you guys really are shameless.

No idea who wrote this, but they are talking crap. Mittens was ASKED by some dude for the name, having mocked the tears of an anonymous miner - one of several, his presentation was a collection of tears - and said '"IF you want to make this guy kill himself, his name is The Wis" (Mittens then spelt the name out a few times)

Notice how he did not order anyone to harrass this guy at all?

People are just jumping on the bandwagon without knowing what actually went on. Sure, Mittens was a tool, an inibriated tool, but he is not guiltly of cyberbullying or whatever other charge people are labelling him with.
