I lived a year in that part of Genesis and recognize MANY names on that KB. They were always good with intel and throwing off the gankers, but I have NO idea what is going on now........

Yep, no challenge in ganking anymore. It's a childs game now or a viable career. They make more isk from your dropped loot and there's really nothing you can do about it except pray that they won't target you. CCP continues to prove that they frap furiously everytime a miner gets popped by a ship costing 1/10th the isk. The final straw is that you can not swap ships from an Orca if someone shoots AT you. You get the same aggression timer as a thief. WTF?!? If I do not shoot, jam or loot from you then why should I be penalized?

Clearly enough kamikazes whined to CCP that they couldn't gank smart miners as easily because of hot swapping.

Yep. I'm sick of CCP continuing to form this game into something that rewards douchebag behavior. The Real EvE game is about choosing your own path. Not being told that your path is for the victims and being shown this time again by CCP as being their philosophy. Where's the "Butterfly" effect? Some douchchebag is a member of an NPC corp that can't be war decced. 15 seconds getting a drink of water and your ship is toasted by some guy who runs and hides for 15 minutes so he's not considered to be a criminal any more.

Sometimes I go mine in high sec. It happens... sometimes I just really feel like it for like 2 hours at a time. Am I a total nutjob because I always do this:

always check public killboards like eve-kill for Hulk kills in that system and in general who gets popped there, always check Dotlan for jumps and pod/ship kills, I always check out all belts in a covops first and make bookmarks, and then make sure I pick a location that would work well with d-scan and checking for ganks, and press that scan button quiiiiite often. My Orca runs shield links and I have destroyer I keep in the Orca's ship bay that I change into when seeing something suspicious, just for lolz (camouflage? Lol)

Well, the upside of being a paranoid dumbass, if I were any of those miners and not, in fact, a bot, the second I saw that suicider dude (or anyone from known Hulk-popping collectives) in local I'd be out of those belts before their ship even showed up on d-scan. And I maybe wouldn't have mined in those systems to begin with, depending on the bigger picture. Also, IMO mining is less boring when you have to stay on your toes all the time.

Those Low Slot Mods are NOT going to help one whit if beset upon by a gang or Smarties.

May as well just leave the Mining Laser Upgrades in the Lows and go for the yield.


A hulk has 3000 naturally EHP in hull. Not having a DC 2 is pretty stupid. However the fit is meant to be run along side an orca which removes the need for any upgrades and actuall puts your EHP up to 34k with 80% resist when running the shield gank link.

I agree here. Mining without the Gank threat would be quite deadly itself to the human mind.

The issue is some kind of ABUSE is running rampant....or there are more Bots than CCP is even admitting.

Sometimes with all their secrecy, it's difficult to figure just WHAT exactly is going on...or whtat to even report.

That's all well and good, but when you run away everytime some douchebag enters your system it's like flinching everytime someone nods at you. During the goonies Gallente Ice blockade, the mere presence of a ganker in the station ALL DAY kept most of the miners out of the belts.

And no it's not less boring when you're worried about a 15 second gank that you have no defense against. But I'm an addict and a masochist.

He is using a scout alt to get warp ins as there is no time to set up ganks as a flashy with out using a scout.

Just figured I'd post that as it's a pet peeve of mine when people using scout/booster alts ect..ect say it's solo. It's not, it's multi boxing. When i'm scouting my BC with a cvt ops I'm multi boxing.. when I'm flying 2 Drakes , I'm multi boxing.. When I jump into a Hurricane blind jumping through low sec not knowing what each jump will bring that is soloing.

Another broken game mechanic is the Aggression Timer. If I have not shot at anyone, stolen from their wreck or repaired someone who is shooting at them, then I should not have the same timer as a thief. If another pilot or even an NPC shoots at me and I do not fire back then I should not incur ANY aggression timer. It's as simple as that.
