Sorry if this is covered, but ive been trying to find the solution for 2 days now.

My PC likes to switch off randomly. The other day it did it during loading up of eve.... I couldnt get the launcher to run, or the repair tool to fix it. i spent a day downloading e

Today, same thing happens. PC switches off randomly, stupid eve launcher breaks agai

So, rather than spend a day downloading again, and loosing all my data yet again..... can someon tell me if this all means something, and if there is a way to fix it? Please and thanks.

note... ok, i cant post the error (exception) because its HTNL or something.

EDIT: FOUND A FIX!
Found a workaround if you're on a PC or any kind of Windows Platform.
On your computer go to:
Computer (C:) > Program Files > CCP > Eve > bin
Scroll all the way down and locate the Eve logo that says "ExeFile"
Double click and somehow it miraculously bypasses that stupid launcher and takes you to the log in screen.
Good luck to everyone and fly safe.

Not working for me.

Thanks!!!!! I was on the verge of some serious uninstall and unsubscribe emo there. bit annoying I need to do this to get the game to play though. Anyone know how to delete the launcher and reinstall it without loosing the whole game?

For those using Kaspersky Internet security you must pause protection (yes that means your computer will have 0 protection from virus' and hacking) in order for the launcher to connect to ccp's servers.....personally I'm not entirely sure eve is worth my money anymore because I sure as hell should not have to disable my firewall to play your game.

The title of this Sticky is misleading ... "THERE IS NO FIX"

I HAVE DOWNLOADED THE CLIENT AT LEAST 5 times and REINSTALLED IT OVER AND OVER.

IF NOT FOR THE SUBSCRIPTION I WOULD JUST DROP PLAYING THIS EVE OFFLINE.

EVEN PATCH FILES SENT BY OTHER PLAYERS DON"T WORK WHILE THEIR SEEMS TO WORK FINE HAHA.

Peace is the way of my war.

im not sure if this work around has been stickied .... here goes ...

if your launcher does not update client properly .... or it says client is updated ... but eve does not run ...

1) clear bulkdata (some how there are some instances where old bulk data n new patch data can become cross corrupted)
2) off antivirus (some may have to off firewall)
3) off any other internet service (not sure abt this 1)
4) run repair
5) run evefile.eve direct (take note the error) ... not the launcher.exe (note that launcher somehow is unable to detect if the game client is fully patched or not ...)
6) repeat process 4-5. until evefile does not return a error report and actually runs.

7) return back your other programs to service (ie --> antivirus, torrenters, etc etc)

I launched the game yesterday, after taking a four day break from trying to fix my problems with the launcher looping at 25%, and everything worked perfectly.

Thank you CCP.

I am now only hoping that there is not going to be any more issues once a new patch is deployed.

I take all the good things I said back.

The game was working, I resub my one account, CCP takes my money, CCP launches a new patch, and now my problems start again! I am unsubbing the account again now.

An hour per day devoted to getting a game to work?

Does CCP even acknowledge that there is a problem? They have been silent for a long time on the error. Are they looking for a fix?

Really CCP? Again? Roll

This monumental testament to incompetence that you call a game launcher has already cost me an entire week of lost playing time (with no compensation I might add) and now it's happening again. Is this going to happen every time you patch the game from now on or will you people finally get your heads out of your 5th point of contact before you drive all your customers away for good?

Fix your game.

Do the launcher, repair dance again and repair says it can't add blocks, even when I delete the files in question and all it has to do is copy them to the eve dir.

bro listen to me lol

dont DL new client. it WILL restart a patch process and it will "mess" up again.

1) off anti virus
2) off firewall (some may not need to do this
3) run the repair tool
4) it will tell you error encountered? yes ... re run it ... there is 1 instance i have to do it for OVER 30 times
5) goto CCP EVE BIN folder, run evefile.exe .... error reply = not fully repaired .... runs = bingo

RINSE n REPEAT step 3 n 4 n 5

why is this happening?

i am lead to believe ...

THERE is a problem in how data from CCp is not going into your EVE folder

and it is not a fixed problem, it is intermittent

running repair till the it randomly fixes has worked for me

I can update and launch the Eve client perfectly at my office using the office network / ISP. Problem solved I think! I bring it home and launch it, to find that CCP has deployed a new tiny patch! FFFUUUUU! No Eve for the weekend then for me.

Please don't ask me to download the Full Installer again just for a small patch. It takes me THREE DAYS to get the installer downloaded because ever since these latest changes, the downloads take forever.

Give us back a way to Manual Patch the client!

I will be happy to use the Launcher updater once it actually works. Until then, give us a way to at least log in. In the next 24 hrs, I will now have 2 accounts that I cannot change skills on.

My issue might not sound as serious as others' here, because the launcher seems to do what it is supposed to do, i.e. "launch" and "patch" the crap out of EVE... But I wouldn't be posting here if all was ok, would I? Blink

The fun part starts when some new patch arrives and I forget to run the repair tool after it gets applied. Client starts up, then BANG! Oops, I mean, BSOD. Windows keeps saying it's nVidia to blame, but, funny thing, when I do run repair, nothing like that happens. Eve just runs.

Now, the question remains, what's happening the moment some patching is done, that can be repaired by the repair tool without any serious downloads (repair tool doesn't even start any), and why does it happen EVERY PATCH?

Running Windows 7 here and the steps from K got the client running.

Don't bother with the new repair tool I don't think, mine was saying everything was good to go and it still produced errors trying to run the client.

I just did steps 1,2,4,5 & 6 and eventually it worked.

CCP your launcher is a bucket of c%#p.

Thanks for the tips K.

Ditto, and the error log vanishes (as does all content in the temp folder it's created in) as soon as you close the error message popup.

Further, the logfile can't be viewed while it is in use by the repair tool...which only lets it go when you close the popup...which deletes the logfile upon closing.

Last patched worked ok, today I rebooted the PC during DT as that was the only thing I thought that might be different i.e. no launcher locking files.

Failed. Repair tool in progress looks something like this, after reboot so again no locked files:
