On win7, could access Launcher 1.05 settings the first time it came up. Cannot access settings anymore even after multiple re-starts of launcher. Mouse over settings button will light-up the button but does not open the settings window.

Are you running the Launcher from a path which contains a hyphen? If so, the work-around is to either remove the hyphen, or remove the .patch file in the directory (assuming you've successfully patched to the latest TQ version). This has been fixed in 1.06, which is currently live on SISI. Hope that helps Smile.

I received an exception and patch failure every time I tried to install, and even the client repair tool would spazz out on me. This is apparently because every time I started using either, I would tab out to chrome. So I quit chrome and everything else, tried to patch again, and met with success. :ccp:

edit: wait, every time i fire up the client now, it shows me the installer page and immediately tells me that the game is ready to play. good thing that it's such a refreshing visual and so i am not at all annoyed by this turn of events.

There are options in the patcher's settings to impor/export and keep patches. You could as well use symbolic links to fake additional install dirs (and just patch one).

So, wait for server is up Dev post,

Launch client "there is a new pacth would you like to download it?"

Hit yes, watch the 3.68mb dl come down (guess thats the launcher)

Eve Online Update Setup starts to run ...

Gets to (6/7) Downloading patch: Initializing ....

and it has sat there since 14:45 or so

PC is not hung I can do other stuff and Task Manager says that the "Eve Online Update Setup" is running (ie its not died to a non-responsive)

So what is it doing and why is it just sitting there ?

(yes I've tried stopping this and then re-downloading the launcher and it just does the same thing, so I left it alone incase its just taking a long time to download and/or checksum my install)

could you please add some indicator when things are doing "stuff" so we can tell if it has died or is just taking a long time to do said "stuff"

There might be something wrong with the launcher's self-update procedure. My launcher version was stuck at 1.04. Repair.exe didn't redownload anything (as did the launcher itself)

I deleted the launcher sub folder, ran repair.exe again, and now the launcher updated itself to 1.05. This is very strange!

Edit: This still didn't fix the clickable links. They open for me in a blank IE window with no page content, empty address bar and no visible loading progress or anything (the window is just stuck but I'm able to close it).

Unfortunately the IE problem you mention is a known issue, see https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=80365&find=unread. We'll try to get to this once we've sorted out the update problems that people are having.

And another nice *deep breath*.

IS THERE ANY REASON WHY MY SETTINGS ARE GONE?

I know this is Eve and every couple of patches have to break something in the user settings but this is ridiculous.

Edit: And yes, I know how to get them back. The simple fact that *I* have to do it instead of the process being automated is stupid.

If you'll spend a little time and read the thread, you'll know this issue has been raised and a solution suggested.

Maybe, but the Edit still applies - if *I* have to spend effort to do something that should have been done by the system, then there was a failure somewhere. That's what I'm mad about. I have precious little time for playing Eve as it is and spending some of it trying to fix stuff that shouldn't happen is quite frustrating.

Yes its frustrating, but with new things come bugs. And CCP is doing everything they can to fix multiple problems that cropped up. Writing code is far more tedious than many of us come to realize and simple mistakes can be made and not caught until after release. Lay off the devs, they're doing what they can.

Also, just making sure I haven't been forgotten about CCP with my client failing to patch and the launcher saying it is patched. Just lookin for some suggestions or if I should just resort to a fresh install. I've already started downloading the offline installer and will hopefully have it down by tomorrow.

After installing the launcher I let the launcher do it's thing but it stalls after 15% and doesn't do anything. It also took about 30 min to get to 15%

Same issue here. Eve Launcher cannot run now. nothing appears.

1. Download Eve Client from Website EVE_Online_Installer_349998
2. Install Default Dir == OK
3. Run Eve
4. Patches. Exception Crashed with log on 4/7.
5. Run Eve [ Not running anymore, nothing happens]
6. Run Eve Online Launcher shortcut [i.e. launcher.exe /forcelauncher] = Nothing Happens
7. Run repair. Repaired ok with Exepction log. Same as many people happening here.
8. Download Repair and run [Still not running.
9. Uninstall.
10. Re-install.
11. Rinse and repeated 4 times.

12. Sorry Eve doesn't runs anymore

Same Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit operating system.

CCP any solution or possible answers?

it is already 4hrs after downtime.

Launcher freezes at: (1/3) Creating EVE_Online_3344784-349998.patch 15.0%

Repair tool freezes at: (3/7) Downloading recipes: Initializing ...

No errors in either case, and no activity visible in the Task Manager. In both cases, MY NETWORK CONNECTION STOPS WORKING. I cannot connect to anything using my browser or even ping other machines on my local network. So I'm thinking of course the launcher and repair tool freeze: they can't access the files they need on the CCP server. Once I kill the launcher or repair tool my network connection returns.

I'm running Windows XP 32-bit SP3

I have exactly the same problem on same Win XP 32-bit SP3 system... Been trying to sort this out for 4 hours, no sucess Attention

Any Ideas ?

All Tech 2 blueprints will no longer have market entries. Any blueprint that's ever been used for manufacturing or research cannot be listed on the market, which is assumed to apply to all T2 BPOs, and having a market entry for them is causing showinfo to have a "view market details" button rather than "find in contracts".

Not in my Client...

Cache, settings and appdata stuff cleared. No change.

Hello,

This afternoon I tried updating the client through the launcher and everything seemed to go fine at first.
Until a little message box with the title ´Exception´ pops up and tells me:

WindowsError: [Error 32] Het proces heeft geen toegang tot het bestand omdat het door een ander
proces wordt gebruikt: 'C:\\Program Files (x86)\\CCP\\EVE\\resDX9JoveSentryDrydock.stuff'

Which is saying the proces didn't get access to the file because a it was already being used in a different proces.
I tried restarting my computer, the repair tool, using administrator rights but all no succes.
Isn't there any way we can just update our client manually? Or please come up with a solution.

Here is the full log of what the exception box is spitting out: http://pastebin.com/EEMSnudg

Heh... I'm a software developer myself and I know quite well how tedious and difficult is to write code. However, this kind of mistake should never make it pass QA. Stuff like special chars in the path of the installation or 'misplacing' the settings are things that should be checked for each and any release.

To be honest, this kind of 'mistake' would get people fired at the company I'm working for. I'm not saying this should happen here, but the fact those problems show up every patch or three is not normal either.

Dear CCP Devs

Could i please get a clear explanation on what i need to do when i get the message "The EVE Launcher cannot update a directory from which processes are running. Please close the following process: launcher.exe", which is keeping me from patching and running the game ? I have unsuccessfully tried to manually run the patch, run the launcher from a different location and importing the patch from the launcher. Thanks for your attention.

Attempting to update Mac client (2GHz MacBook, 4GB RAM, OSX Snow Leopard)

Launcher installer fails. Hangs for about a minute and then dies. Trying to restart client gives the message that the patch is ready to install and client will now close etc etc

Console shows this error message among a stream of missing blocks

14/03/12 2:34:04 AM [0x0-0x3b03b].com.transgaming.EVEOnline IOError: [Errno 2] No such file or directory: '/var/folders/gd/gdklsseseriubbiasb9g1k+++ti/-tmp-/tmpquhqzc_0.datapile

Firstly, could that missing file solve the problem

Secondly, did some digging and found that while "/var/folders/gd" did not exist, "/var/folders/GD" did exist. In fact, most of the folders referred to are named with caps

I honestly don't know what that missing file is, or whether you guys put it there, but I'll go out on a limb and say that it looks both necessary and temporary given its convoluted path naming. But if you guys put it there, can I ask: Could you not have used caps lock to match your code to your path

Some of us Mac users have case-sensitive filesystems for a reason. Errors like what this appears to be are unnecessary

Thirdly, if and when the problem is rectified, how do I convince the client that it needs to download a fresh patch?

Broadcasting "target" while using the Japanese UI seems to either not work at all or crash the client

I tried to broadcast the next target while I was missioning with my friend (who was also using the Japanese UI), and the second I "X+left click"ed (default broadcast target shortcut) the NPC, both of our EVE clients crashed

I experimented a little bit and so far, only the "target" broadcast seems to cause this problem

I'm on WinXP, my friend Vista. Both of us using the Japanese UI.

OK I am able to use my EVE / EVE2 junction setup again. The procedure is to start the launcher to run the first
instance of EVE and, after the game starts, close that launcher and start the a different launcher, one whose
properties use the EVE2 (not EVE) path. Then close that launcher, etc

The thing you want to avoid is pressing PLAY for multiple instances. That will not pick up the different settings
files for the multiple paths when using junctions.

So, I have one shortcut to my EVE installation (for my main)

"C:\Program Files\CCP\EVE\eve.exe" with "Start in:" "C:\Program Files\CCP\EVE

which picks up my settings from folder "c_program_files_ccp_eve_tranquility

and a separate shortcut to my EVE2 junction (for my alt)

"C:\Program Files\CCP\EVE2\eve.exe" with "Start in:" "C:\Program Files\CCP\EVE2

which picks up my settings from folder "c_program_files_ccp_eve2_tranquility

It looks as though users running Windows 7 Ultmate x64 are all encountering the same error messages.

CCP: Error logs have been provided by multiple users all showing the same problem, are you not able to ascertain from those logs what the problem is? If so then what's the point of said error logs? Just another box I have to click "ok" on?

Again I am requesting the actual files to be provided for download to allow those of us struggling with Launcher.exe to bypass it and get our game to run.
