If you have a Windows PC than go to:

"C:\Users\YOUR NAME\AppData\Local\CCP\EVE\c_games_eve_tranquility"
The name "c_games_eve_tranquility" will vary, depending on your installation path of EVE. You can see that I have installed EVE on my HDD under C:\games\EVE.

There you can find the "CACHE" folder, which you can delete manually. The game will set a new cache folder if you log into EVE. All other "cache-backup xx" folders are old cache folders which EVE had stored; every time you delete your cache regular in the game with the ESC-menue- and should also be deleted. Have a look at the size of these folders. Big smile

Every time you clear your cache you should also delete the backup of this old cache. I have a link of this folder in my folder where EVE is installed. So I can easy clean up my HDD. Big smile

Dear CCP.

Thanks for the response to my petition and acknowledging this thread and the fix presented. However, the main issue that I have told you about in my petition still stands.

First off telling me that you're working with ESET to try and find a solution to your problem as opposed to telling me the standard BS reason that you told everyone else being that you were hoping for ESET to release a patch to fix the problem confirms exactly what I've been saying all along in this thread. The problem is NOT with ESET or other AV / Firewall packages but within CCP's launcher code.

Secondly, when you discovered this issue there was no rollback plan on the client and server which should have been done the minute problems started cropping up in the first place. You've completely alienated your Mac and Linux users in the midst of trying to figure out what you did to screw up a fairly decent number of your PC users atop of it all. This should have been the immediate course of action when the production release failed for such a widespread number of your users.

Third, while I appreciate the private thanks from a GM on this issue, I'd much rather see all of the community that has participated in helping to find workarounds and help you be publicly acknowledged and a formal apology to the community for not being more forthcoming as promised by your CEO just last summer.

Many of us have been very patient over the last week while you guys took off over the weekend and left us hanging and waiting for a fix. There has been no fix, no apologizes, and no acknowledgement that the launcher and it's use of the rsync protocol via http has caused issues. There has been little chatter about Mac and Linux users issues by anyone from CCP. There has been no announced intent to roll the launcher back until it's ready for consumer usage. In other words, CCP is acting like all is well on the home front while it's players are left thrashing in the wind.

This is now how you treat customers. This is not how you treat loyal users such as myself that have been playing 8 years or longer on several accounts and have put up with one debacle after another during major patch releases.

A little piece of advice. Get off your backsides and make good before you lose a lot of customers. The natives are restless and ready to revolt if you can't tell from the tone of the community.

Well, I am pretty sure that CCP is pursuing AGILE. I think I read that somewhere.

Which basically means, they don't do Q&A and push changes live without any particular sequencing to them.

Which means horrible quality.

I don't understand why these guys can't grasp that in a persistent universe, the one thing the players most need to succeed is a consistent experience.

Sure, make improvements and upgrades, but like the mostly useless CQ, why push out a launcher that does almost nothing, without adequate testing? Why change the overview, when almost everyone had much higher priorities on their wishlists?

CCP will get off AGILE or they will go out of business. PSN is going to let them push frequent DUST updates, but when they start breaking the console experience, you can bet Sony is going to have a word with Hilmar about quality control.

Launcher stopped working, keep getting "URL ERROR." Ive used the repair tool, did not work, checked firewall, all is good, cleared cache, still nothing. What is wrong. Worked one day, then fails the next......whats going on?

This is just horrible .. the client keeps getting worse and worse with no fix and no improvements . I cannot run 2 clients on low settings , i cannot even run properly 1 damnn client at low settings,huge delay , crashes to desktop and alot of other problems ... this is unexcepteble .. My subscription expires in a week ... i will not continue my subscription if these issues are not fixed cause i will not waste money on the inability to play the game ...

You could also try to understand that your computer is probably not following the evolution of the game. I'm sorry to hear you got some performance problem but if your game performance has to be better at a cost of the game evolution, I would recommand you to look for a new PC.

Still, it is a matter of opinion, because in my case, even if graphics improve from patch to patch,, client seems to run better and better. So maybe we're talking about an optimisation problem here?

Hmm new patch, and......

EVE is broken again :P

It throws the same errors I provided the screenshots for days ago.

I've tried a few things:
1) running patch (throws same error)
2) running repair.exe (throws same error)
3) running launcher installer (doesn't automatically run the launcher anymore after install)

Why is there not a permanent fix for the issues yet? At least some root cause shared instead of "try rebooting your PC and running repair.exe"?

Agile does not mean Q&A is left out. In fact it depends on the concrete chosen process. Scrum for example does focus very much on Q&A, since stories which are not 100% functional and do not pass the sprint review may not be release at the end of the sprint. It's a matter of whether the rules on which the process relies are obeyed by everybody on the company. But this is a problem which is not agile related. Q&A may be a problem of CCP, but it is not agile related...

im running a mac... before this patch my graphics is all good.... after the patch.... waaaa....... is just like im using an outdated card..... T_T hope a fix soon....

Is it just me that thinks the 'fix' to the module/ambient sound is still FUBAR?

To hear any missiles firing from my ship i now have to be sat directly on it. Why couldnt you just put it back to the way it was before you did the original mess?

edit: right done a bit of playing around...with a close-ish view on my ship.....

incoming missiles/explosions - ok

incoming gunfire - ok

my drones - slightly loud

my outgoing missiles - non-existant.

to be able to get to hear my launchers, it shoves the other 3 listed above way OTT.

just me or same for everyone?

Thank you for this 3rd patch which has broken my game FOR THE THIRD TIME.

I look forward to spending the next 3 hours COMING UP WITH MY OWN WORKAROUND AGAIN while reading the many useless "reboot and run repair.exe" comments from CCP.

3rd email complaint being sent, the previous two being ignored.

How can you go from getting so many things right and being adored once again by your community to this monstrous array of mistakes garnering nothing but loathing and anger? Bravo sirs.

going from 60 fps down to 3-8 fps over a patch ain't "game evolution", that's just bad programming.

Hello

This has just happened after the launcher installed the latest patch.
I start the game and the graphics on the log in screen is just horrible. The colours are all messed up and i can not understand even the letters.
I play EVE on the lowest settings on my laptop with ATI Mobility Radeon HD3470 graphics card.

Edit: When i use Window mode or Fixed Window, the graphics goes back to normal only then i can not get rid of the settings window and am unable to enter the game.
Also when i take a screenshot of the messed up log in screen and open it in Paint, everything looks normal.

I just lost all my overview settings and everything just completely reset. ARGH!!!!!

I even lost all the saved usernames on the main client screen.

Why CCP? Why????????????????????????

As per previous three patches downloads about 2/3rds and then just hangs and does nothing (petition updated asking for manual download link).

Just a quick full-bodied whine whilst I wait for a corp mate to export the patch from his working game, upload it to a file-sharing website so I can download it and import it into the launcher and play the game.

TBH not being able to play Eve is helpful as I need to pack for Fanfest... but I'd like to queue up some skills before the taxi gets here in 5 hours.

Is it OK if I swing by the office tomorrow with my laptop CCP? Pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease Lol
